I was going to say “that’s just what happens when you spectate someone with the ambi”, but naw he just made it that big.
So my other two guesses would be 1: he plays at a high res like 1440p or 2560p, where the crosshairs scale with resolution, so that crosshair would be 4 times smaller than it appears at 1080p. Maybe they play at 4k but recorded the demo in 1080p to save on storage?
2: maybe they play spy and melee hitboxes don’t require precise aim, so having a fast but imprecise idea of where your aim is superior to a slower more precise crosshair?
Or potentially, they’re a funny meme lord and they either like seeing comments about their cursed crosshair or it doesn’t bother them because they’re using 1 interp so stuff feels so generally bad that the crosshair feels fine in comparison.
Honestly I think this is most likely because the way they were rotating as if matadoring, while still clearly in front of their target, suggests they know they use forked settings.

completely crushing the colors
all the lighting in the comparisons make the characters stand out in a way that isn't good
by doing custom implementations in the player entity, such as adding a string where you could define model location and other things like hat offsets, particle offsets & such, valve could then add this to a "player renderer" that would put the stuff in the correct place, without using any extra entities. valve took in on the easy way by just linking entities to the player, which if you use enough hats, 1 player can take many entity slots. valve then realizing that using the latter is slightly expensive - they probably removed a lot of details from weapons and maps in a attempt to fix it

honestly the continued discussion of this shitty crowbcat video is a nice reminder that a lot of gamers just go "woah shiny, i like", and are exactly why real time raytraced reflections are still a hot selling point for games
like I get why people want extra detail on their weapons, but it sticks out like a sorethumb on the more subdued look of the rest of the game

the reason why the weapons look different is because of the move to c_models.
they wanted to redo em to use fancy new stuff like exponent maps, Ambient Occlusion.
with the added benefit of weapon skin support.
also doing less work, since you only need to work on 1 model instead of 2.

because the nades are still there on the w_models and v_models still in tf2's files

the GL has a bone called "procedural_chamber"
so at some point it seems like they considered having the GL barrel size match the actual ingame clip size
its even got networked variables
once again, that bone not in v or w models
so i wonder if, in this case, they were playing around with an idea, scrapped it (or it never got finished) and never re-added the traditional anim
maybe they were having issues lining up the grenades in the barrels
revolver does not have a separate bone with this, so i assume maybe it was an oversight when they redid the first person anims for the revolver
and by redid i just mean port to c_models

if i had to guess, for some reason the import tools i'm using are not considering the fact that animation layers exist, and are writing the animation from scratch, using the base location of the armature for some reason
cause the place where bip_pelvis is in this animation, is very close to the place where the bone normally sits without an animation
but i don't know how to subtract the ref location
you would thing it would be easy to copy just the relative movement of an animation in blender
but i tried for far too long and couldn't figure it out

watch as the modding community 1984s their mods from comfig eyes (they really detest sv_pure, mods bypassing it are proliferating)
In fairness, I’m not the biggest fan of how sv_pure was executed. There are some nice QOL mods like particle reduction mods or animation mods that just don’t work or require tame-ish work arounds to get working in casual, and should really just be whitelisted imo. To my knowledge, uncletopia is the only server that has a custom sv_pure whitelist that isn’t just all-on or all-off.
I like how deep rock galactic handles mods. They have 3 categories of mods, verified, approved, and sandbox (iirc). Mods are reviewed by the company and verified you can use in any lobby, modded or not. Approved mods are fine and don’t hinder your game progression, but you can only use them with people with the same mods. Then sandbox mods essentially disables your progression, and only lets you play with people with the same mods.
Valve would never do this as it would require too much manual oversight. And obviously a co-op game you can have different progression states. But it’d be nice if they had done something like that in the community workshop. Or set up a method to apply for verified status. It’d keep passionate modders working in intended ways and then only bootleggers would have to go through the work arounds.

l4d2 is an interesting exception to the rule

seems to be an issue with on any distribution (or flatpak runtime) that builds off llvm 16. it’s fixed by using a newer version per usual, but according to a friend the package on arch doesn’t work so 
@mystic turtle tested a static version of it i built with nix though and it worked
so maybe recommend trying to pin it like you would sdl, but if that doesn’t work, use a binary or compile it yourself with the expression i made
it would be easy if volvo remove the precombile binnaries and use the OS one

sometimes in casual my heavy, sniper, and scout anims are just busted
sniper completely, scout and heavy kinda just fucked up timing (things playing at the wrong time, etc.) other weird issues

i've been playing a lot of the current custom mvm campaign recently
its cool that the devs have figured out how to do really crazy bosses
like they're genuinely scary
helps that some of them cancel medic shield after a few seconds
but even outside of that
they just throw tons of completely unexpected, but still easy to understand things at you
usually made with pre-existing things in tf2, just re-used in a new context
meteor spells, AoE buffs, even the sound of a vaccinator swapping to let you know when the boss swaps to a different thing
and it results in really intense and fun boss fights

the most mvm you can do in vscript is set money, set if a player is considered a miniboss (applies scaling), the travel distance to the bomb target, if the game mode is mvm, if refunds are allowed, and if its quick build time (mvm pre-round)
