When I mess around with the contents of my tf/custom folder I usually go through and delete the VPK cache files. Not sure if this is warranted or completely inconsequential.

The game will just rebuild them next launch. They can get corrupted and cause a memory leak, so I delete mine on every boot, but you don't have to go that far or even delete them if you're not having that particular issue.
