Export your finished train as a stl, 3mf, fbx, etc. for 3d printing

  • The main problem that I know of is that prints want a unified/watertight mesh or clipping watertight meshes where as games only needs surfaces/planes to be shown

  • an option for interior vs filled in interior would be nice (taken to the extreme would be floor by floor/dollhoused rooms)

Beyond this point I'm being a bit persnickety

My concerns for resin 3d printing:
  - not high enough detail (resin can do textures but it needs to be on the mesh)
  - not fully watertight mesh for infill (It needs to be able to drain resin without a buttload of holes)

My concerns for color 3d printing:
  - to a lesser extent detail
  - file format matters (for as an example .stl can't store color)
  - colored differently than advertised due to shader/texture reasons

my way out there ideas

  • print in place joints
  • 3d scene capture
  • 3d map capture

(I own a resin 3d printer which is why I put it higher)
