#What is the most painful way to end a chess game?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
losing on time when YOU'RE WINNING
i've never stalemated a won game
obviously stalemate
Stalemating a game you’re winning is ROUGH.
Rral

Real
stalemate is ðŸ˜
so awesome to do
nah it depends on the level
The most painful way to end a chess game is when your opponent has like less than 20 seconds and is in a time scramble but procedes to play perfectly anyway and checkmates you just before their clock runs out
especially when you're on time pressure
Stalemate or loss on time
I would say losing a winning position on time, to be specific
Whilst you have many minutes on the clock
OR, losing a game right before you're about to hit 1000, 1100, 1200, etc.
Opponent offering you to take en passant and then getting mated/blundering your queen after doing the forced move on autopilot
nah its def blundering. you can only blame yourself
yea
chess wind what do you think
blundering m1 and losing money
blundering
Stalemating a won game is just funny
completely winning a game and then having to leave for reasons
Nah pulling up the queen death squad is the best way to win
Losing on time just feels deserved
yea
Blundering is painful
got to be honest, the loss on time is stressful, but if youve just made a queen and your thinking "finally, some elo points for all this hard work", and it just stalemates, gotta be the most painful way to lose
It's just funny at a point
Blundering and losing in a completely winning position hurts the most in my opinion
it is definetly blundering
Like if I stalemated at this level id probably just laugh
losing a game right before you're about to hit a 'milestone' like 1200, 1500, etc. is the worst
I go in expecting to lose before a milestone
but then
figuring out i moved my king into a terrible position, possibly making a mate in 1 or 2
It feels kind of natural
now ur backt o 1190 or somehting
Getting a rook and king checkmate, but got low on time and mouse slipped your rook and ended up with a stalemate.
Expecting is the wrong word, ready
Checkmate by pawns lmfao
Bros getting checkmated instead of resigning
nah lwk all of them are your fault so they shouldn't be painful
nah, because now you know you can do it, and have done it. It only worse if your rating starts to plummet after and you go to 1120 lol
Wait how is mouseslip not an option on this poll
I feel like that would be the most picked one, or at least rival stalemate
I guess that falls under the category of blunder
or disconnecting when winning
like
u got mate in one
but
internet shuts off
or smth
Actually that's worse than mouseslip
I still think losing on time in a winning position is the worst
Because mouseslip is actually your fault
Just a different fault than usual
i meant how to losing on time
^^^
it should be something thats not the players fault
Ion really care how I'm checkmated
When both teams’ most useful pieces are dead and then you made a mouse slip (skill issue dude) then pawns checkmated you (when it was meant to be a stalemate)
Yep happens all the time that exact situation to me
Why did I structure the sentence like that
disconnecting is definitely the worst
I agree actually
Disconnecting when winning = i feel sky falling down
Self sabotage
nah i js delete the account
Man wtf
Real
- Imagine when you’re only one step away from winning and then you disconnected 💀 2. Why your icon is deepseek lmfao
Losing on time, disconnecting in a completely winning position is just so sad
2) deepseek is fire at chess, totally
Blundering pieces because that’s the only realistic thing to happen otb
Accidentally giving away your pieces... 😔
Losing against a younger sibling
blundering really bad multiple times after playing a good game
and then hanging backrank
by making an excuse to leave just bc you know youre done for
Losing on time in a M1 position or Getting flagged.
What about misclicks!!
Fr
But the times I’ve stalemated with a winning position and winning pieces is unhealthy 🥲😓ðŸ˜
stalemating is 100% hands down painful, one time i was in winning position and i had 2 before mate before the game got stalemate
most saddest day of my life
Æ
fr
Statement is the worst
so basically, you are losing on time but you are actually winning. which is hella annoying since you know that you can mate in 2 but you have 5 seconds left 💀
The worst thing is losing because of bad WIFI
true
Blundering pieces/mate in winning position. Happened to me a few times before.
the most painful way to end a chess game is when you have more than 20 secs on bullet and the opponent has less than 3 secs left but checkmates you at the last moment
brilliant move followed by queen blunder + missed mate + missed a free rook + blunder your last remaining, loyal lil horsey
Blundering is a part of a game everyone blunders and is extremely hard to avoid but not stalemate because most of them are because of low time where u have no choice but to move ur pieces quickly
can't deny
Lost internet connection has to be among the choices why isnt it there
Correct
i had M5 but i lost due to internet
flagging one move before mate
Blundering in your own opening repertoire
Missclick in a completly winning position and end up loosing the game
- when opponents decline draws
Missing your clic and causing a blunder instead of a great move OR having a game where you are completely dominated by your opponent
Missclick
idk I don't win haha, I'm like 100 elo
Your opponent runs out of time, but its draw by insufficent material </3
Blunder a piece in a won position
Personally, when you lose a drew game or blunder due to time pressure (In a longer game without being blitz or bullet)
So many times I was losing and considered resigning but I then noticed how many people would accidentally stalemate me which gave me motive to not resign.
a specifically frustrating situation with blundering is when it's right after your opponent that goes for a tactic or sacrifice that doesn't work and you've correctly accepted it, but then you hang another tactic and lose a piece or smt
Loosing to a mouse slip...ouchie
My experience blounderign so i was on a match on a tornament so i was playing agressive and good but one i blouder so bad that i lost on a checkmate and I felt so mad because he called me Broski after the match
Cheating on OTB (the guy touch a piece so he need to play it/take it...and this makes me winning but he say that he didn't touched the piece or said ajust while he did touch the piece and DIDN'T said ajust)
Fr
who stalemates a win game??!! A 100 elo chess player??
Losing on time on a winning match is more painful
stalemating a won game is amateur mistake, why people vote for that so much
blitz/bullet player would understand why losing on time is such a pain
a lot, even dumb version of magnus
however its SATISFYING when THEY stalemate
When they checkmate you without you seeing the mate
nah thats just 800 elo issues
Me: a 300
yea good i saw that comin
hey D:
