- Rxf6!! was the best move of the game
This move allowed me to open up my opponent's king so I could follow up with a checkmate. It allowed me to win my group and advance to round 3.
My general thoughts behind the move was that I was down material and needed to attack the king before it ran back to safety. I didn't think I could play a "safe" move since I was down a knight and I thought I would eventually lose.
When I was looking at sacrificing the exchange here I saw that there were only 2 responses. If the pawn recaptures then the king gets opened up and potentially checkmated and if the king moves away then I win the knight for free and the material is equal again.
In the game the pawn recaptured so I checked the king again and got my rook on the 7th rank. The king was stuck with a mate in 2 to follow.
