Hello everyone in my very first post in this platform.
The next game was played in Round #1 of the Chess.com 2024 Daily Chess Championship.
https://www.chess.com/game/daily/603423851
After a quite chaotic Caro-Kann, I managed to eliminate the castling options of my opponent, while I launched a strong attack from an opened central column.
I was already a pawn ahead and my position was clearly winning, with my rook at e6 threatening the black King. My rival played 19... Qd7? and we reach the position of the diagram.
To conclude the attack, I played 20. Rxf6+!!
and my opponent only resisted a few moves more.
If: 20... Kxf6, 21. Qe5+ Kf7 22. Qxh8 and the attack is definitive. In the game, my opponent played 20... Ke8, that leaded to a mate trap in the end.
The best of all is that with this game I got the mathematical confirmation that I was advancing to Round #2!
What do you think about this move? How would have you played instead?
Thank you for your comments, I wish you a enjoyable competition!
