It'll help. If theyre caught, they can be banned from discord and chesscom..of course, nothing is foolproof. However, if they're IP banned from Discord server, wouldn't that automatically ban all alts from joining? Without use of a VPN. I'm not too sure though.

Maybe only members who have been in the discord for a week plus can join the club? Trolls, etc, would have to join with tons of accounts to get around bans, which is also somewhat detectable. It just will be more security, I think it'll be fine.

They get banned on chess.com either way, idk about how it carries over to discord, but they probably get banned on discord too, cause u cheated where u r getting a paid gift
Or atleast their access in server is very limited probably cause they aren't technically breaking discord rules
And chess.com band r most likely ip bans

If they have good records, and with them now knowing their discord, shouldn't be too hard to ban them here.

Would kinda defeat the purpose of increasing community engagement through discord, cause for example i joined after i learmed of it from tata steel stream, so can't really ban participation cause it's a fresh face, and smurf accounts r problem, but there is only so much that can be done about that

Well yeah that's very clear, but cheating in online games kinda might not qualify to ban from access to community completely, altho they probably restrict participation in the events like arena

That's why i doubt complete bans carry over to connected social sites

Great point, I didn't think of that. Although, they own both platforms and ultimately can moderate users at their discretion. They're also a company, so getting rid of people sho bring their product down and make it less enjoyable probably gives them good PR etc

Yeah but it won't be kinda fair in terms of how to run online platforms, what kind of player u r doesn't define what kind of person u r(in chats and such, and also even if ur behaviour might warrant bans in chats, doesn't necessarily mean that u actually participate, so might not be any reason) altho in long run at some point who knows how things end up, it probably just won't be a good decision from their standpoint rn, especially since tech is developing so much and more and more people r exploring this area
