I have some woodworking projects on the drafting table that are wall decor of sorts. Picture frames, shelves, coat rack, ect. What do you do for attaching them to walls? The only thing I can think to do is the kind of thing shown in the picture, or use hardware. Are there any other ways? Is there a way to do it with hand tools?

A French cleat is pretty great for larger stuff and very historical for hand tools.
Keyholes like that are nice, but I don’t know of a good hand tool way to make them.

Yeah french cleat ftw. really can't be beat imo. Way easier to get level than pretty much any other option, and super solid once the thing is mounted.
