there is nothing IMO short of a center leg you could do here, or some sort of full metal undercarriage, that's going to make a butt joint on a bench like that stand up long term

I’m planning to use large loose tenons (Dominos) for internal alignment, but for the heavy lifting, I want to route a channel underneath and inlay a 1/4" (6mm) but im not sure of the structural advantage with this method
yea not sure what to tell you here, I dont see that as likely to hold up at all
