#hand planer for jointing table top?

I'm going to be building a hard maple dining table soon. I do not have a jointer.
I have used a jointing jig on my table saw to get straight rip cuts, but I don't think this will work for joining long boards. Brad nailing a straight board to reference is getting me closer, but the joint is still not clean enough.
Would a hand plane solve this problem? Any recommendations on what to buy online? I'd like to stay below $150 if possible.

Thanks!!

This can be solved with a hand plane, a #7 is the classic jointer plane, though you can also joint with a #4 or #5 with the right setup and a bit more difficulty. LN or Veritas are the recommended brands for purchasing a new plane, but you'll find $150 is not sufficient for a high quality plane, you don't want a low quality plane. This limits you to the used market, which can be a crapshoot and is its own deep rabbit hole. You will also need a workholding solution for the long boards. More experienced folks will probably have more advice.
