Hi folks, is it normal for each veneer in a lot of 12 to be missing a huge chuck out of it (see pictures) or should I contact the seller?

I've never bought veneer, but what possible downside is there to contacting the seller? It would be unbelievable to me that their quality control could have tolerances that large.

Yeah, that's normal if you're buying a burl flitch.

If it's VeneerSupplies it was mentioned.

@merry plume one of the challenges of working with really nice burl is it often has little knots, voids, weird holes, and so you're working to layout your pieces to avoid them or finding inconspicuous patches.

If that hole was right in the middle it would have been sold as a lower quality flitch, but since it's up in a corner it is more acceptable.

If the pictured packet didn't have the notch and didn't mention voids in the flitch and it was an AAA you could reasonably say "Hey, this seems like a bigger defect" and get a few bucks off for grade.

But it's not abnormal/defective per se if that makes sense
