someone said i could use the off cut for the attachment part... but that doesn't seem correct

#

They are overwhelmingly too small

#

i confirmed with some people on here that i could do this

#

yes, I was here for that

#

was it you?

#

you didn't mention that your offcut would have no material past the angle

#

No, it was not

#

ah well i asked him how much i should shave off and he told me not to think so much

#

so basically i just need to make another 45* cut on a larger piece of material

#

do you think the cleat as a whole is f'd or just the offcut part?

#

would be awesome to be able to use these scrap pieces

#

I can't even see the cleat

#

you just rip strips 5-6" wide first, then you split those at a ~45

#

done

#

Not enough

#

well, maybe juuuust enough

#

this is the kind of stuff i'm wanting ot hang

#

5" stips that are split at 45 will leave about 2" flats to affix

#

rip means i have to go buy material

#

sucks bc i don't have a car (nyc)

#

so gotta lug everything

#

wish i didn't expose that gash also

#

ahh it was poet

#

i found the thread

#

good, maybe ping him

#

im willing to atleast try it if it means i can get rid of the scrap

#

if not obviously

#

will get the right stuff

#

so what standard board should i buy do you think?

#

do you like, read every 3rd message or what

#

i read every single message you send to me.

#

you told me 5" strips

#

which insinuates buying a larger board and cutting down to size

#

but lacking a table saw would be nice to have somethign standardized so i'm not ripping strips out

#

just buy a 1x6 and skip the ripping step

#

okay, hopefully I can track that down

#

I used to think that french cleats were the simplest method for hanging things but now I'm questioning why the universe hates me

#

what issues are you having with them?

#

me?

#

unsure what that means

#

well, that's lovely... thanks for the response
