Without the boost, it sounds very light, with the boost it sounds kinda wideish
yeah try to compress the snare more
I changed the ratio to 4:1 slow attack fast release
Thresh to -3.8
Attack around 16 ms
slow attack isn't going to sound good on a snare because it's not going to be hitting it much
did you watch the video tutorial i sent you
Not yet m just tryna fix the snare and he'sd off to sleep
*head
I'll watch it tomorrow
So ure saying I should change the ratio?
Go to sleep and hit it again in the morning
Attack it is
How much ms attack should I put
the video covers that so u should check it out tmr
that's not really true
but define "slow"
16 is perfect for a snare really
it is
I guess it's kinda on the edge of being medium
For snares 15-30 is slow
10 is medium
yeah
5 is fast
anyway yeah, this is what i'm hearing
get rid of that
remove soundgoodizer
just get rid of it
I don't know why you're limiting your snare but not compressing
Your 1176 is inactive
Yeah someonee told me 76 I too fast for snare
Oh are you using the FL limiter as a compr
Yessss
Very true
In this case it might not sound bad
1176 on snare can work on snares with a reaalllly loose transient
okay do this
and then send
remove low mid boost
remove soundgoodizer
Remove limiter
Add 3-5db of compresion on 1176 with slowest attack and release at like 5-6
Used 1176 here
whole mix is a bit overcompressed but yes the snare is better here
@halcyon holly
Generally speaking 1176 is too fast but here it kinda work
though there are still better choices
do all this for me and re render
M exporting a version without soundgoodizer aaand I goofed around comp
not particularly because i think it'd sound better but because i wanna hear what is doing what
Check thaattt
check this @halcyon holly
give your suggestion imma try all of that tomm now m so done for the day 😭😭😭
yeah you're right that it lacks low end without the boost
I think this is a redo moment
Just redo the mix
Redo the wholeeee snare mix?
sounds like a pain in the ass but i promise it's worth it
Your second mix will likely be better, and you'll learn more
If i remove everything the snare sounds light and dry
To remove the dryness I added a bit of reverb
To remove the lightness and make it more punchy what should I do
I'll look all of the msges tomm now
Peace out
Gang
I had to reser my pc
Bc it got bricked
It took me 3 hours
But i can finally once again load my mix
With nonissues
Shit sounds so good again
I’m so happy
I’m so tired
were you the one who sent me the snare bomb
i forgot who sent it
but i need it back
bc it wasn't on my external
so i lost it in the reset
3-5db boost at around 200hz and add a compressor
tighter q for the EQ boost, you want to basically just grab that tall peak when it hits
yeah the boost he had on 200hz was like 10db i think
.
16db actually 😭
that is more than just 200 im ngl
yeah that is more like a 150-600 boost
LOL
Morning gng
Have you ever tried putting a clipper on the snare?
Nup
Elaborate
@runic adder so I re did the eq
With almost 5db boost around 100 and 200
Imma send the track tell me if u find a diff in snare
@runic adder @vale vapor @halcyon holly
Clipping the snare can give it that 127 velocity impact that just cuts through everything
how do i clip it by decreasing threshold?
You just want to grab that 200hz
But off my phone speakers it sounds better
there wasnt much difference on just boosting 200 with comp a lil bit of 100 made it so much diff
Ehh not always
@shut igloo Tried something new mix wise. Not sure how it sounds outside of my headphones. Havent had time to do speaker or car test yet

also smoll suggestion u should make completely electronic synth pads etc etc typ intro that builds up to the part where the guitar and drums kick in
if u can do that
would sound kinda kewl
like a pre-intro?
this is pretty much a sequel track to Reservation for the Donner Party, so it's be a bit too close if we did that
yessir
Kinda the opposite
Much, much better. Nice one
Hmmm Idk, worked fine for me on my Snare for some reason🤷♂️
It can. But fundamentally clipping does the opposite
Context matters. If your snare was too quiet and clicky then yes, clipping will help. In this case, we have the opposite issue. So clipping will make things worse
I see
@halcyon holly could I get some thoughts on my .wav file by any chance?
Good to know ✌️
thanks for the tips mate 🫡🫡
As usual, I struggle to fit the vocals in. Probably gonna take 50 years before I'm somewhat satisfied with this one.
sounds good 👍🏻
The vocals are just very dark and everything is overcompressed. Ease up on the master/bus compression and boost (ideally good sounding) frequencies in the high end
What mic are you using?
SM7B is my guess
The vocals, yeah. I don't really know how to make them brighter, everything I've tried doesn't work. But I only have a limiter on the master track at -3. Do you mean putting an EQ on the master track too?
It's a Rode NT1 Signature Black
Right, whatever I do, I just always seem to never get it right
Lemme take a closer look
the mix is completely crushed, disable your limiter and repost so i can hear where you're at without it
Okay. I just have a limiter there so it makes the song louder.
Just repost for me
Could be the limiter on the master. Could be something else. Impossible to tell without knowing what's happening where
Makes sense
Could also be compression
can you send your master chain for me?
Or is it literally just the limiter
There's just a limiter on the master track, yes
I don't really use compressors either
What makes me think it's limiting or compression is that when your guitar is playing at the start, your mix is the same volume as when the kick and snare come in. Your guitars in solo shouldn't be the same volume as your full mix together
You can also see this in the waveform i attached above
Interesting
Okay, do me another favour: disable limiter, reduce volume by like 10db
Your mix is very, very dark overall. I'm boosting about 6-7db to get things to a normal level in the high end
Really, the problem seems to lay at around 3-5khz. Hole in the mix there, and far too much up in the 12khz range
here was my master eq to balance things out
Yeah, I'm completely self-taught and all my knowledge comes from YouTube, basically 😅
That looks really strange
Thats okay, so are most people and similarly, most people teach themselves through youtube (and then undo everything taught from there after they realise no one has any idea what they're on about)
Wth have I been doing xD
Yep, most likely only because i'm doing this on the master, and, undoing the stuff you've already done to the mix
For you, this would likely just look like a wide 3-6khz boost and a 14khz dip
Here's the new render
So this is without limiting and turned down a bit?
Yes
Sounds better, but still not quite there. I'm still hearing some pumping
From here, it's really hard to say what's going on over discord without knowing your processing chain for everything
Can you name the places that there are limiters/compressors on your mix?
busses, mixbusses, groups etc
Okay
So there's compressors on the vocal masters and bass, and I have a side chain on my drums (my plugin is EZdrummer with the death metal dlc) with a compressor too.
Take off every single compressor in this mix and resend
I mean every single one
i promise there's a point to this lmao
Sure thing
I understand where you're getting, don't worry 😅
The bass became REALLY loud when I threw off the compressor
But yes, it's rendering now. Just lowered the bass a bit
So are there any other ways of making a mix louder? @halcyon holly
louder doesn't necessarily mean better
but limiting helps with that
it's just that sometimes limiting too much will crush a mix
No no, just loud enough to reach the normal standard
the normal standard is that your track typically will get lowered in volume by most streaming services
Here's the new render @halcyon holly
if you've heard anything about -14lufs just ignore it lowk
Ross im sorry i dragged you into getting pinged 20 times a day lmao
when people see good advice its a magnet
but typically a limiter on the master will do that, just set the limit to 0db or smth (I set to -0.2 just bc thats how I was taught)
then just run the track into it, I typically have the highest peaks get limited by 2db so nothing extreme
Hm, I've had mine on -3 for a long time
Make a good mix
Yep, still something wrong going on here
yeah you can bump the limit up to 0 or -0.2 or smth
Can anyone else hear the absurd pumping or am i going insane lmao
but yea fix your mix first then limit
I don't really konw what you mean with "pumping"
Pumping comes from overactive dynamic range processing
Specifically it's the sound of gain reduction releasing
So what could be causing that
i hear it
do you have any channels clipping
Anything applying gain reduction
Some master tracks are, yes
This may be the problem
bruh
turn every track down until nothing is clipping anymore
There should be no clipping on your channels or master
Oh
So you're aware that tracks are clipping, but you don't see it as an issue?
I mean, I've always thought about it, but I've never really had anyone to ask about it
Okay, reduce the volume of all channels
For the record this is what i meant when i said
Will do 🫡
By the way, thank you so much for helping and sorry for being dogshit at this 😭 🙏
Thanks, it is indeed
I went through 22 iterations on this mix in the last 7 hours. What do y'all think? Any suggestions? Imagine that the vocals were actually good, and try to just judge the mix, not the abysmal performance on it please.
- guitars are very very dark
- infact, so is everything else
- guitars need to come up
- cymbals need to come down
- vocals need more compression
What compression settings are you currently using for vocals
120wpm vs 180 or whatever
180 on a bad day, yeah
Is this me or the other guy?
you
Overall the guitars just feel very washed and underdetailed in the mix, most likely a levelling issue between guitar and cymbals and similarly a frequency resposne problem
Well I have the lead vocals going into the Punch Vocals setting on Pro-C, threshold at -18, which goes into a VC 76, 4.5 attack, 3.8 release, 8 attack, into the JST BG-Vocals Bold, Loud, 76% compression
All of this is useless without the amount of compression being applied
Guess so
I'm letting you take care of this guy now, and I'll let the render to its thing. Nothing's clipping now at least. Like I said, I'm not great at this, only been making music for around a year. Thanks again!
if you're applying 0.2db of compression on each of those there's no point and you need more compression, if you're applying 20db on each you need to back it off and that might help
Funnily enough, too much compression can sound like not enough compression
personally im a fan of massive roomy drums but yea the close mics are pretty quiet
you gotta do big room drums correctly
I mostly just use Reaper's stock plugins for the mixing part, and I'm just 20 and my job applications keep getting denied, so can't really buy much lol
no reaper stock plugins will work just fine
They have so far
most of the plugins in my daily use are free or reaper stock
theres only like 2-5 paid plugins i use
Here's the new render, again @halcyon holly
Lmao sameeeeeee
yep, better
That means I'm doing something right 😅
today we have learnt: clipping your channels isn't a good idea
😂
Yeah
So can I enable the limiter now and if I want a track to be louder without clipping, could I use a limiter on it?
When you say everything else
You mean literally everything?
Like Vocals, cymbals, bass, perc, extra production sounds
Either way. This is all I'm doing for tonight. I need to sleep so I can operate today
Wdyt?
@halcyon holly @runic adder
I still think the drums are too roomy
guitar & bass could come up (slightly)
sounds clearer tho
bro
you said you gotta sleep 😭
kick sounds better fs
i get it
Welp
but also (TOMORROW) you should work on the snare and it's rooms
think the close mic could use some high end
dude go tf to sleep
Hey, So I was experimenting with some synths on this one. But mostly was trying to concentrate on the mix being clean. So, if anyone has any critique here, please, I'd love to hear it.

advice on the mix please @vale vapor
I'd love advice on my mix!
tf is a goodizer
yes, now just layer 13928342191283649218374921836419234872139482163948127394712364981236491283 serum tracks
@runic adder @halcyon holly Can't seem to get the vocals to sit nicely, I keep bouncing between over and undercompressed, and I have no real Idea what I'm doing to the vocals tbh
I'd lower the vocals a little bit
sounds cool otherwise
soundgoodizer is a plugin
baaaaasically a mb compressor from what I hear
and because of its name people like to slap it on a lot of things
question
what're you doing on your bass
Its a Maximus preset funnily enough
ABC and D you can all find in maximus
Fl studio stock compressor lol
Essentially, the left half applies a solid amount of distortion and saturation, whereas the right half brings out the natural sounding pick attack
Bass VST is UmanskyBass
The first Saturn 2 is my best approximation of a Darkglass pedal without using the actual VST
Yeah sounds like a ton of extra steps when you can just use parallax
I just wanted to try something different as an experiment
Even podfarm lol
and it stuck
Oh gotcha
Carry on then
We support experimentation here
Speaking of I've been trying to move as much of my workflow to free or stock plugins as possible
The few i haven't been able to replace are Saturn2 and Pro Q's EQ match feature
Saturn 2 I've never been able to find a worthwhile free alternative for
And afaik there isn't any good EQ match features in any free EQ
Oh also Ozone limiter, it's unbeatable
If anyone has suggestions lmk
Yeah Saturn is just really good
Fundamentally it's unique
Yep
It's a daily for me, for sure
I'm on reaper
Reaper has splitters but thats a headache compared to just one plugin
that's a step too far for me
Yeah exactly
I swapped from the NDSP plugins to Saturn because they were both saturators, but Saturn was easier on the CPU
If I have to replace 1 plugin with 4 it's not necessarily that efficient anymore
Lol yep
I just realized. What if the reason everything sounds like shit is because I'm not high-passing everything? Like all that sub-20Hz Frequencies might be slamming the limiter/clipper
or might just be flubbing everything
Well only highpass if it actually needs to be highpassed
There's a lot of bass-y sounds and elements in the mix. I'm gonna see what happens
So, I checked on my Clipper, and apparently I knocked off 1dB of GR from High Passing
Now that I have that headroom back maybe I can do something with it.
Problem is, I'm having a hard time hearing a single word if I drop it further
Just did the car check in like 3 different systems. It definitely fixed the low end rumble bullshit
Everything is way more discernable
Wasn’t talking to you
Doubt it, I looked at your track and saw a noticeable dip past like 300hz
Which is why I was asking about your bass setup 😭
Wait I'm blind
Well I high passed the Bass. I was able to undo some other EQ movements and bring the bass up a couple of dB without completely losing definition. hopefully I can do a bit more.
@vale vapor @runic adder
high passed the bass :/
the bass needs to come up
High passed the frequencies literally nobody's going to hear unless they're a literal whale
meaning?
I cut everything below 20Hz
turn it up or change my eq?
ok well that's not what i mean when I reference the low end dip in your track
turn it up
okok
also is it legal to have a second kick track with a less bassy kick but its more high end to add like more of a punch sound ias well as bassy
By high passing the bass I'm able to turn the bass up without slamming my clipper to hell and reintroduce some of those other frequencies, so maybe I can fix the dip
I'd say just choose a different kick if you can, but I used to do that
if ur highpassing ur bass for tone add a sub and chain them tg to add that bsas back in
I'm not getting rid of anything super important like the sub. Just the sub-20Hz info
i don't think that makes much of a difference. your issue isn't at 20hz, it's that everything below 150hz is only your kick
and that 150hz is your snare
Because I turned all those other bass frequencies down because I mistakenly thought those were the main issue, causing massive rumbling and clipper slamming
i really fw the kick sound i just feel like the way i have it mixed is fine just i want to hear it a little more as opposed to feeling so i just think i wanna add a clickier one on top
ahh
turn em back up then
That's what I said I did
your 100hz range needs some love from your bass
Now that I got rid of the useless frequencies, I was able to spare the lost headroom for those 20-160Hz frequencies
So I already turned that shit back up
Low-key tho
Might high pass the bass some more and add a square wave bass
Go all in on thr Northlane sound
there's nothing there to high pass big dawg
just add the square bass already 😭
red track is Deadvectors - Shrieker, level matched to the best of my ability
I'll first show you what it sounds like
Banger reference
cuz im running off this
this is the most recent version I have access to
I'm on 31
yeah I reference it for all my double drop C tracks
I'm also not at my desk rn
Fair
well then you're on 30 until 31 is available to be heard
preferably with a little more bass in it
No, YOU'RE on 30 until 31 is available
well i hear some weird frequencies in my chain and soothe makes it sound better
found this fop test in my renders
Tbh I thought 32 had too much bass so I dropped it a little, but wdyt?
@runic adder
Changed the mix a little more
I wrote this, ik the playing needs improving but I feel like there’s too much low end and the tapping isn’t loud enough (probable skill issue) it is recorded on phone tho and I am getting some parts of a recording setup. Just wanted thoughts
Shall reply soon ive been busy
Guitar tone is veeery harsh around the 3k range
Drums sound really good!
Snare could use a little more punch, maybe a tiny bit more compression and bring it up a smidge
bass could be a little louder as well
also, if you have a reverb on your overheads, turn it way down, it's a little too noticeable
guitars sound really buzzy
i would recommend using a better IR
kick and snare need to come way up imo
if you wouldnt mind, i could mix a section of it to demonstrate the kind of sound you could aim for
Not at all, go for it
Although I have to say. I'm going for a buzzy Guitar sound
Trying to make it sound good-ish
Looking for a new sound, kinda thing
If you wanna send me the raw stems as .wav files feel free to drop them in a google drive and pop it over in my dm
Do you have your kick, snare, toms, and cymbals all routed to separate channels?
Yeah
ok just select each of those channels and export via stems
turn off all processing except for the midi VST itself
hey can i get some vocal mixing tips, this is a draft of a song me and my friend wrote, i know the track is bleeding but this was recorded on an ipad
First tip is don't record on an ipad
you need to get the recording right at the source
you can try all the mixing tips you want but ultimately recording on an ipad is just a bad idea all around
I sent you a GDrive link on DM btw
Yeah once im finished listening to the new Adept album ill check it out
i dont have a mic dude
Then put priority into saving for one, or borrow one
it would be better to wait for you to get a mic than to try to fix an ipad recording
because it's not gonna sound very good
yeah but arnt all mics like 400$
bruh
have you googled any mics at all lol
wtf! what happed to everything being like 1000 and up
This is one I ordered
That was like, a long time ago dude
i dont think that ever was the case, ever
😭
lIke 20 years ago
1K on a mic is madness
Like i asked have you literally ever researched any prices at all
before DAWs and EDM
probably longer than that
Probably
Can’t wait
the year 2000 was 25 years ago now 😭
its insane
Me being born in 2005…
Tbf I was born in a peak metalcore year.
too young to enjoy it tho
hey your still lucky
i was born 12 years after it
you were born 2017????
I was born 2001, so I See Stars (when they were good lmao), and ERRA were my metalcore intro
no 2012
AYYY
MY G
end of the world party is one of my top albums of all time
it's so good
hybrid earth and rebirth r song id die to somehow learn to play
Oh and Northlane
3d is fire too but end of the world party is a little better
With Adrian
SET ME FREE
insert Drop F#
BU BUUM BU BUUUm
BUDUMBUM BUDUMBUM BA SET ME FREE
I used to listen to Escape the Fate religiously before I discovered Dream Theater, Tesseract, and Periphery
Yeah I love ETF
i pretty much only listen to risecore
I got into amity affliction pretty early too.
aka the mature version of crabcore lol
blackout, parkway drive, killing with a smile
Do old MMF count as rise core
like the sinner?
I saw PWD live recently
Wild eyes live…
damn
that's also risecore
best era of metal easily
havne heard it
post hardcore ish riff ig?
I just love all eras currently
Tbh, I really like what we have now.
i never could get into it honestly
i used to be into it actually, but it just all became super boring to me
i don't like low tunings anymore
at least for full songs
The lowest I’ve played is Drop F#
It's less like tuning thing and more like Timbre thing for me
i pitch shift down around all the time but i just prefer drop A-drop D
Idc
anything in that range
I low-key treat Guitar the same way as Serum
also shout out for today…
Just a sound to manipulate
insert spiritbox
I do rlly like em tbf
I think my fav modern metalcore band is probs Invent Animate tho
False Meridian is just
I've got a 7 turned to that, but I pretty much always have it digitally detuned lower nowadays
Mmh
My Schecter just about holds it well.
I just like the sound/timbre of super low tunings
idk im always in e standard
yeah i never liked it that much
bruh
I have a fanfret Ibanez and I got a low 80 on it
^^ tapping isn’t easy sob
get out of e standard LOL
E standard is kinda valid. Conclusion of an age by Sylosis…
What do you play, a Ukelele or something?
ah yes ill write indie rock in f#
Such a good guitar written album
or
even drop d is better
lol
haha
It's gotten to the point where Drop F# sounds like regular E standard to me
Me with drop A#
Like It used to sound deep and cool
BMTH, Amity Affliction, TIJ, PWD etc
Now it's literally the highest tuning I have
you cant play the same type of riffs in F# that you could in drop C
A# is heavy but also perfectly melodic
What…
My 8 is in Drop C
A# and A are both goated
DROP C1?
Ye
Jesus…
lol, my strings are way to thin and i cat be bothered to go to southport to buy new strings
I think my mum would ask if I stole a telephone pole
Well actually it's Drop F with low C but yeah
💀
its just kick noises
For my epiphone D standard to Drop A# is what I play.
on my 7 string A# standard to Drop F#
Is what I play
If it was enough for Whitechape, good enough for me
im mildly stupid, on my fender im in drop a, on my 7 string im in e standard or some retarted midwest emo tuning
???
How’d u get a 7 string to e standard
bro put 7 gauge strings.
Super light strings probably
I think my 7 has 10-68s
oh i just use it like a 6 string
Brother…
THE LOW STRING
IS THE MAIN ONE
yeah i just dont use it
??
u could legit play all of trivium’s shogun album
If u tuned it to a B..
That’s not even low
and that album is goated
one 8 string based band I rlly like is Allt
I think the deep blue silent is the song I listen to the most
i still mess with f#
Getting more into thall
xenon activated
?
haha
what
This is why I can’t wait to get my audio recording stuff
It sounds so clean.
I just use phone to record a EVH 5150 15W…
why is the bass insanely offbeat lol
i dont think it is?
ah i hear it noe
yeah i have an excuse
im dont play guitar
i suck
practice?
bass*
bass is literally just easier guitar (most of the time)
eh
i play both man lol
good for you
In Metal, sure
program? LOL
well that
I’m English and still almost failed it when I was in high school that says enough
💀
Brain cells did not brain
@kind trail did you write this, i miss clicked and dowladed this insted of another song and its been on my computer for like a year, any way it sounds amazing
holy pumping
Oh yeah, that was a long ass time ago. That was double drop A
kyle is my grandmas neighbour lol
I can’t find tabs for it anywhere tho :C
Huh, small world
Lower than my height god damn
IKR!
It was ADADGBE, but an octave lower
oh god what was the bass tuned to
I didn't bother going an octave lower for that
drop a -2
Was too much of a pain in the ass
mad
So I just did the Meshuggah thing
I love A# that much I wouldn’t mind hearing it an octave lower
Bass and Guitar in same octave
That frequency just hits
isnt it just like telephone cabes at that point
I used my Drop F# guitar
Tuned the 6th string down to B
And then digitally dropped it down 9 semitones
tuff
Generally, tuning low like that digitally can artefact and create some weird sounds but
How long have u played for
Sheesh
Imagine the natural harmonics…
Since I was in the 4th grade
I’ve only properly played for 3 years I wish I focused more when I was younger
So some 16 or so years?
Thing is, I'm not really that good at guitar lmao
Well, I'm not horrible but like
I love solos but the lack of skill in playing them makes me not try
I am more a riffage guy
I usually only know as much guitar as I need
Like, I don't use Sweep Picking so I don't know it
But I can do Thumping
and Selective Picking
Like that Tosin Abasi stuff
that’s sick
do it slow 10x with zero messups
then do it slightly faster 10x zero messups
Basically
Muay Thai style
pretty much
Weirdly enough, I know if I really sat down I could learn it
I just never really cared for Sweep Picking
Escape the fate guilltone II…
opposite of me
mmh
i have no use for thumping in the styles i write
I’ll never get bored of listening to that song
but sweeping is legit
That’s a no skip
also @kind trail i mixed your thing
I'm about to say the most poser shit ever but like, it's why I don't really listen to older metal like I do the modern thing
again literal opposite of me LOL
Only older band I listen to is probably Judas Priest cos ridiculous guitar work
I grew up around crab core and post hardcore tho.
Goated era
I think the only solo I really loved and learned was Tornado of Souls by Megadeth
I wish
Someday
I shall
August burns red have some phenomenal stuff
Paramount tapping bit
man…
Tornado Of Souls got me playing guitar more seriously but like
I could never really care for other solos
abr is so sick
The one riff I’ve really learnt is probably Martyr
cos it’s one of their easier ones
I wanna learn escape artist tho that song is UNDERRATED
and it had a filthy breakdown section
@kind trail yo what is that tapping part pitched to
the rhythm guitar is -5
is the tapping part also -5
Tempo is 183 my b
i dont need tempo, not working with midi
yeah those
ok zero
Rhythms are tuned down
On the leads yeah
@kind trail @vale vapor can i try? if thats all g with you i dont wanna overstep xenon or anything i just like mixing for fun
by far the best riff if written
nice song btw, i would recommend adding a secondary rhythm element like a hihat effect to keep the rhythm going strong because those overheads cymbals get a little drowned out
i hear a sick steady 16th note hihat rhythm in my head
riff is cool for sure
mix is pretty muddy
well how would you mix it
Those bursts mmm
No kidding
i meant better than my previous version, i changed a few things lol
Idk my prods keep sounding so weak
differently lol
Still applies tbh
ah yes great advice
it takes just tons of mixing things over and over getting stuff right
i offer lessons ;)
It just feels like I just end up cluttering up everything
yes however i is broke
if youre interested in mixing lessons i do that, i could breakdown what i did on that project file over a discord call
Honestly, might take you up on that sometime
its mostly about keeping each section sounding loud and clear without too much crazy overlap
shoot me a dm anytime and we can set that up!
Hell yeah
@kind trail hey, i am quite a beginner but if i could also try to mix it that would be amazing, ill do the full song just for fun i have no intrest in undercutting you xenon im just bored
Lol if hes cool with it go ahead, more practice mixing is always good
me?
Huh
usually LeGion with a tube screamer before it
fortin namless for metal or my cheap amp moddeler for my stuf (indie rock)
And then i EQ to taste, then use a good sounding IR or EQ-match from a song
or plini
honestly i could never get a good tone with paid amps
When it comes to Amp —> Interface —> DAW how do u post it on socials after? And how’d u record urself playing it when it’s on the PC?
you record takes into a daw lol
and then put that audio over a phone video
if youre trying to post a reel or something
For me, I always dreamt I'd be a proper touring musician one day, so I'm trying to keep everything as NDSP friendly as I can, in case it pans out so I can just get a single QC and use that for everything
which is the essence of counting my chickens before thy hatch but ye
I’m getting some stuff tomorrow so I was curious
i mean i play live with my band pretty often
for me i rrecomend interface---> daw-----> amp so if you get it mixed you can have di
IR makes up like 90% of tone so when we use our pedalboards we just load whatever IR we are using
Huh
yeah i would recommend using digital amps
unless your amp is crazy good and you have a crazy good mic setup
even then lol
at least record di into the daw, then reamp it through your actual amp and record the output via a good mic setup
but digital in 2025 is the way to go unless you have a crazy good mic setup
and know how to do that properly
That’s the stuff I’m getting. I have that amp with a TS808 and a noise gate.
nice
digital also means you can play at night
Yea that’s y I also wanna get Neural DSP
If you wanna mic up your amp, talk to people who do that often and know what they;re doing
watch alot of videos on it
fire
even tho when I bought my Interface it said it comes with 7 free plugins
I still want neural DSP
I'm not the tightest player and my hand finally got tired halfway through lol
sounds like A to me
I heard something lower
idky
It defo is A tho
That is sick af tho
The first thing ima do when I can record on PC is Drop A# chugs with a tapping lead…
Peak metal right there
based
My Mark Tremonti influence really took over for this.
Mostly all downpicking XD
Dunno what that is but I hope your arm is all good.
Oh
NDSP is great at a alot of things, but it can be a pain in the ass to mix. But the plugins are fun to use.
Hold up a second
I have windows 11 so I got reaper for now
MY favorite plugins are the Mark IIC+, Plini, Misha, Rabea, and Soldano.
Reaper's all you need quite frankly.
I’m using my gaming laptop for it lol

Nothin wrong with that. My PC is a jack of all trades master of none.
More than enough.
Also fuck me Matt Heafy makes my arm scared.
That's why we call him Mat BEAFY
One band I rlly wanna learn more of is periphery but
skill issue moment for me…
💀
Same brother man.
Same.
Supposedly there are easy Periphery songs (so Im told).
Lies…
They r all psychos
buttersnips, marigold and scarlet are like…
I’d shave my hair fully
To learn that
and I have bloody nice hair
i think i cut my fingers open lol
i could probably play it now but omg 😭 back then it was a pain
yeah my fingers have guitar callouses now
You’ll toughen up a lot once those go
if they do.
also one thing with fishmans is that it’s sometimes hard to tell when the battery starts to go
what lol
ive been playing guitar since i was a kid
I can tell when it’s dead but I replaced mine today and my guitars sounded so much better
they arent going anywhere
also i do construction so my hands are rough
I usually don't feel anything in my hands unless I play for way too long or a deliberately cut myself.
Getting my A licence for motorbikes soon too
Me when I tried to split frozen bacon…
Legit blood went everywhere my finger went blue and I had to go to the hospital💀
Jesus man.
I’ve had worse injuries
Frozen bacon is no joke.
Then again I have cats so.
Little bastards like to bite and scratch me a lot.
Love them
Second video my aunt recorded
They are adorable
That 2nd one seems like a handful
