So like 50-150hz

It'll tighten up your palm mutes

You don't really need any crazy plugins, just a dynamic eq band where there's frequencies that need to be reigned in

I use Odeholm Drums sometimes. I dont like the huge reverb and I typically layer a kick trig but if you pull back the sustain on the reverb and put a little sustain on the snare it can sound really good

Also chatgpt can genuinely be fun to talk to. It's always nice to get a human perspective because human's are so prone to bias it makes it hard to trust anyone

Yeah, it's an industry standard for a reason and it came free with my audio interface. (Pro Tools First, later replaced by a public updated free edition). It a good DAW for straight recording and mixing, though dated in design and flow. Out of the box Reaper is a lot like it, just modernized and super customizable which I enjoy coming from PT. I couldn't imagine a reason to get PT in the modern day considering it's stupid prices and other choices being cheaper and more accessible, but it is a good DAW all in all.

Its optimized for sound design and live audio (like running live tracks)

Obviously you can make any genre in any daw but some are more optimized for certain ones

Mid / low mid boost on the guitars would be nice. Guitar volume overall could come up if you wanted to keep the same tone, kinda feels like it's back seating in the mix slightly. Snare might be overprocessed, and you're lacking some room there. A heavily compressed room tone is essential for this genre. Paralell compression is your friend here too. Bass could come up with more mids too by the sounds of it from the breakdown with just the bass.

Song wise i'm really liking it. I have no comments about the songwriting, just the mixing - which is exactly where you wanna be lol.

Yah, I'm using a bunch of plugins on it though. I'm using Tonesuite Distant for gate and pre eq as well as to make the signal mono. Then it goes into Archetype Abasi which is the main part of the tone. And then I use the distortion plugin Thermal on pretty much everything cuz I've found that even when the mix is at zero as long as its on it adds a cool sound quality. Then its just overcompressed after that.

I use Thermal on everything kinda like the joke about using OTT on everything

it kinda makes the attack a little sharper and add a bit of prescence

As a general rule of thumb, if you don't know what it does, don't use it. You need to only be using plugins with intentionality
