You don't have scissors in your house?
They aren't as good as small small wire cutters but still work.
At that if you don't have them just unwind the and thale them out.
Trying flat wounds for the first time and yea first impressions much better to my ears.
Hello everyone! I wanted to try out an audio interface, because my neighbours don't really seem to be keen on my playing, and this seems to be a good option. And i have a few questions
- I found Arturia MiniFuse 1 has some really good reviews, but has anyone tried it, is it at least decent or should i be looking for something else?
- If i buy, for example, a wah pedal can i connect my guitar into it than into the audio interface and than when i run it through a plug-in get the wah effect?
-
I have not tried the MiniFuse 1. Never even heard of it. Quite honestly it all depends on budget when it comes to audio interfaces and ease of use. Focusrite are good for both. Especially if it's your first one.
-
Yes you will get the wah effect. It's the same as running a wah pedal in front of the amp. It's just the audio interface is the stand in. This is also works the same for volume pedals as well.
thank you very much for your answer!
Your welcome!
I have to ask. Are you looking at any amp Sims in particular you want to use?
i was recommended by a guy from a guitar shop to use archtype: gojira
Archetype Gojira is pretty good. It's the one I use the most and you can make plenty of good hard rock and metal sounds with it.
Many amp sims have free trials (not just the ones from Neuraldsp), so when you get an audio interface, start by using those trials but I'd recommend not to activate all of them at once because then you spend less time getting to know all of what each one does best.
Also a really good free sim to check out called Amped Roots, it sounds pretty much the same as the 3rd amp in Archetype Gojira but it's free.
thank you very much for your advice!
oh, just remembered i have another question about this amp sim, what do you think of it when it comes to clean tones, are you satisfied with it?
Archetype gojira has good cleans in my opinion, but it’s not the main focus (it’s primarily for metal).
Deoends on the type of gain you want, but the Plini one has a lot to offer
The cleans are fine, it depends what you want.
Try out, Gojira, Plini, and Nolly they all have a lot to offer.
I bought a RAT distortion pedal but I'm not really happy with the sound. Are there any tips on how to improve it or which pedal to buy instead?
Which Rat did you buy?
What do you dislike about the current sound you have and what are you trying to achieve with your tone?
Does anyone know if My Own Summer is played with a pick on bass? I looked it up and it just gave me covers where they used fingers, but it sounds a lot closer to the actual bass line to me when I use a pick
I swear to god every tab for Sixpounder by CoB I can find has the solo wrong
like what
even I figured it out and im shit
It sounds more like overdrive than distortion. in particular low notes and palm Mutes. I'd like just a regular distortion sound
You do have the distortion cranked to the max.
I'm assuming you have played with the nob but having it at max is going to be pretty crushing
What kind of style do you play?
Though Gojira is very good sometimes people are in search of specific tones.
hey guys, should i get a flying v, im a metalcore artist
Anyone know how to get close to the tone of Jim Root on this video: https://youtu.be/H4XsQLpzg9s?si=PrO0sNlxt1ACPJjf
Jim Root: The Sound and The Story - .5: The Gray Chapter. Get all the tutorials and the full story behind the record at https://frettwelve.com/collections/the-sound-and-the-story
I have archetype gojira x if someone has like a preset or something
Get whatever you like
Archetype: Gojira X is too tight to get a tone like that. The two gain amps are based on the 5153's blue and red channels and a lot of eq work would need to be done to get it to sound like an Orange amp.
There are Orange amp sims you can use, like from ML Sound Lab.
STL Tones has one too.
https://ml-sound-lab.com/pages/amped-oracle
https://www.stltones.com/products/stl-amphub-origin-rocker-mki-model
They're very cheap too in comparison to the Neural stuff.
As Conic said, Get whatever you like. Flying V is just a body shape... It's not as popular in metalcore but if you like the style and feels good to play then get one (But if you want to look more modern then I'd recommend something newer and pointier than a vintage spec gibson/epiphone... once again though, who cares as long as you like it 🤷♂️ )
You could even rock with a hello kitty guitar
Nothing more metal than a hello kitty guitar. It's got that "Didn't ask your opinion, I'll play what I want" type energy.
Yeah haha
I think it instantly makes you 10% better at playing too
Because of the confidence boost
I just bought this here FM3 mkII Turbo from Fractal and thought I would turn on a camera while I create a high gain patch with it!

I hope i get your question right. So i m mostly into metal music i enjoy it the most playing on guitar, the reason i asked about the clean tone is that i want to experiment some other genres that require such tone, i haven t experiment other genres because i was never satisfied with what my blackstar fly 3 mini has to offer, and that s other reason i want an improvement, i m no longer satisfied with what that mini amp can offer me
I see...any particular influences that you take inspiration from be it tone wise or playing wise? These things all help when looking for what you want in an amp sim.
Ugh, nothing in particular, really... when i learn a new song i try to make a similar tone to the original (never actually managed to do so), i never wrote anything on my own but i'm looking forward to do so.
Hmm....since you were looking into Neural DSP, you might want to really consider Archetype Nolly X or Plini X. Reason being is that while Gojira is VERY good for metal, since you're also looking into clean tones, as good as Gojira is, the clean amp can break up very quickly and the FX really lend themselves to Gojira being heavy af. Plus both the lead and crunch amps have ridiculous amount of gain on tap.
As for why Nolly, well it's extremely versatile. It does a lot of things really well. Although it's Peavey 5150 and Marshall JCM800 are sort of the main attractions for your high gain and crunch, the Bogner Shiva (it's clean amp) is no slouch and is pretty good for cleans. The Victory V30 Countess which is the 4th amp is also surprising good for leads. You will get a LOT out of this plugin, even if it's a bit more basic than Gojira, it's a bit more versatile in my opinion. Plus you have so many options for the built in IRs that you can't really go wrong with it.
As for for why Plini, although Nolly is extremely versatile and sounds awesome, Plini has this sweetness to it. The Dumble (clean amp) is even BETTER than Nolly's Bogner in my opinion. Although the other two amps are Friedmans (which are essentially modded Marshalls) one being the high gain HBE the other being the really nice and crunchy BE, there's a lot you can get out of them. Arc Plini was my first plugin and I haven't gotten rid of it. The FX are also really really nice too. They are pretty subtle at first but you can get crazy with them the more you crank em. The FX section doesn't get as crazy as Gojira, Petrucci, or even Rabea, but it feels good. Unfortunately you're stuck with one cab, but if you use external IRs then that's not an issue.
This is the gear I use for recording, I also use a Universal Audio Volt-2 as my interface.
Nice
Fortunately neural dsp gives free trials to their plugins, and i'll give a first chance to nolly, than plini and just for fun gojira. Thank you very much for your answers and your time!
What's that black one, 3rd from the left?
It’s a 2006 Schecter hellraiser c-7 with Emg’s
Very cool, Guess I should've paid more attention to that classic Shecter abalone binding lol.
Your welcome!
what is a good interface for a intermediate player?
im looking to buy one but i have no idea which one i should buy and i dont want to waste my money
Either a scarlett solo or scarlett 2i2 (both can be either 3rd or 4th gen)
They’re most popular for a reason (that being they’re good and don’t cost alot)… there’s probably better options out there but you can’t go wrong wrong with either of those
The two just listed are the best overall plus lots of knowledge out there on how to use them because of that.
Make sure you get the right ASIO software for whatever interface you end up getting
Anyone got experience with Harley Benton? Been thinking about scoring a cheap and easy 8 string but not flush my money down the drain
For the price quite decent, but its still a cheap guitar.
If you really want the most bang for your buck, I agree with YoThePro, go with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2, be it Gen 3 or Gen 4.
Another REALLY good one is the SSL2+. You can get em for relatively similar prices. Take a look at both and see which one you like more. Good luck!
what good drop D songs are there for a mid tier guitarist to try and do a cover of
wanna start doing covers but don't have the strings to droptune and have it sound good in recording lol
Creed
any 6 string trivium song
i recommend Rain
grazie
Laid to rest by Lamb of god... So fun to play and I reckon is intermediate skill. If you haven't done pinch harmonics before, it's also a good one to start learning how to do them.
Everlong
Tool - The Pot, Sober, 46 & 2
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Alter Bridge - Ghosts of Days Gone By (kind of a weird D tuning)
Projected Twin - How She Makes Me
First song I ever learned
There's been a few guitarists that have helped my playing massively.
Pete Loeffler - Chevelle
Clint Lowery - Sevendust, Ex-Dark New Day
Adam Jones - Tool
Shaun Holton - Projected Twin, Solar Soma, Southern Empire
Rabea Massaad - Ex-Dorje, Ex-Toska, The Totemist, Vower,
Mark Tremonti - Creed, Alter Bridge, Tremonti
Jun Senoue - Crush 40
Thanks guys
3D Printed?
Yes
Very cool. I take it's also quite light...
Interesting
I just got a sterling, 7 string jp70 guutar
Gonna be the asshole and say get a Rockerverb Mk 3, and an Orange 2x12

i need this
Why does my whammy pedal sound like this?
is sleep token the summoning in double drop D#?
Because it sounds much lower than normal D#
or is it because it's just a 7/8 string
8 string drop D#
is it the string gauges that make it sound heavier then?
it's the mix
fair
D#1 I think
At least it sounds right to my ears, it's what most covers use and gives IV a reason to have his 30" guitar other than it being ridiculous and fun
I tryed making the old school blues sound drop a# and heavy
What should I add?
The riff is simple but I think it works fine
Idk, edit your tone

got a question about guitar tabs, can anyone help?
sure
what is this and how do i do it
it is yes
send it
ok
pick the first note, hammer onto the second note and pull off again to the first note
you should only pick the string once
and obviously do it to thr right rythm
yes exactly
cool
thanks
np
Yummy legato
And this is why I own a tab book
Because without looking at the book
I would have no idea what the fuck that means
💀 thats fair yeah
And im still bad at reading tab
it takes time
Pulls out sheet music
It's nice my school has a classical guitar class helpful for reading sheet music
Polytune 3 or TU-3 I can't decide there's so many mixed opinions
i'm leaning towards polytune because I feel like durability shouldn't be too much of an issuer because I don't slam my foot into the switches
why is there so many polytunes what one do I get 😭
Makes no difference. Both are fine options
ive chosen polytune for the visibility and the ability to tune all the strings at once which'll be good for my floyd
Ok so trying to play the baseline from my favorite video game, and I’m stupid at tab what do these symbols mean? I know 0 but I don’t get anything else I’m new
Hey anyone got a full tab transcription for 4 string bass from Mac Miller's tiny desk performance of What's The Use?
The squiggle is a quarter rest, the rectangle is a half rest (if it was the other way around it would be a whole rest), the line with dot in the 4th bar is an eighth rest, 4/4 is the time signature the line that goes from the zero to the line is just a tie so let the note contine to play until the next beat...
Ok so it’s just zero, let it ring zero zero let it ring?
Thankyou
So Chapman guitars have announced that they are making some very big changes for the brand. Model name changes, factory changes, lineup changes and distribution changes. I think some of these changes could be good for Chapman, though I have my doubts with others.

I play since october last year and I would say I am decent at techniques and everything. But the biggest thing that is holding me back from learning full songs is being able to play well to a metronome. If it's just 0s I can play 4th-8th until 180+ bpm but as soon as it comes to adding notes I have to play agonisingly slow, are there any workouts that you could recommend?
New arrival for the store, nerds
Hehe, keep practicing with a metronome. A comfortable speed isnt fast but also not too slow. Eventually its about internalizing the click and feel the on and offbeats
I mostly have the onbeats
You are struggling now, but it seems like you are properly practicing so you are doing nothing wrong here
but if it's an easy chorus without many note changes I can still do it well to the click, on and offbeats
Ok yes you have to practice off beats as well
So your problem seems to be in the fretting hand
Or at least coordination between the 2 hands?
wait let me give two examples
this is from slipknot AOV
This I can do well to the click + the offbeats
but this, typical metalcore "in dying days"
I find impossible to do it well to a click
Hmm they are straight 8th notes
when every beat/offbeat is switching a note I struggle
I might misunderstood what offbeat is so
Theres the same space between each not3
I mean like the note where you don't hear the click
So off beat is the notes between the clicks basically
yea
but yeah, whenever I have to switch notes a lot my brain doesn't pay attention to the click anymore
I even put it at 50 bpm
Ah yes
You have to just built muscle memory first
50 is too low
80 bpm or even 90 bpm is perfect for practicing this stuff and getting it consistent
50 bpm is harder than faster tempos
Not necessarily songs. I think exercises are better
In which you play to a click and interchange 4th notes with 8th notes and 16th notes
Once you get that down only accent the off beat
And dont play the 'onbeat'
These kind of exercises really help
I can already that
To a click?
Than I dont really know why playing the stuff shown is difficult for you except perhaps the tempo
Which is normal in the beginning of learning a new song
Do you alternate or downpick this?
Down
As blood runs black is deathcore?
Equal 8th notes apart
Didn't know
Especially their first album lol
Rabea sig
Yum
indeed
Yo man, a few weeks ago you spoke about your EP coming out. When you finally gonna share something?
Once the EP is done I'll be sharing it.
Time-lines on that don't have one set as it's just something fun to work on as I work on other projects for other bands over my solo stuff.
Could someone please help me put this well to a metronome? it's messing with my head rn
it's in 4/4
the 4th note is it the duration of a click but in between the clicks
3 8th notes into a dotted half note to 3 8th notes?
Then the count doesn’t seem to add up to 4/4
exactly my point
So it’s 10/8? Or something
same symbol so it's for sure not dotted
https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/slipknot-dead-memories-tab-s22111
starting at bar 34
I think it does count well but it's just a weird placement
It’s not
It’s a 4th note not a half note
4th note is just two 8th notes no? 6 + 2 = 8
They release Randy Rhodes signature distortion pedal
i know, we sold 8 of them in a day and we should've gotten more

Kemper
do i play the 7 like 12 on the previous string cause there is no way i can do that
Bad tab
Also why write it as 5/16
Its probably 15/16
One 16th note less than a regular 4/4
Theres no 3 measures of 5/16?
wait ill send you the whole part
I mean, you can divide it as such but I doubt its written as such
So 12/16 would make more sense probably, but the tab seems wrong either way
No matter how good Petrucci thats nonsense
You can leave out the 17th fret
yea there is just no way
btw it is 5/16 and 7/16
i saw the official time signature they used
there is a video of mike counting it
Ok no clue why they spell it out like that
Perhaps Meshuggah ruined my mind. I would just look in the song where it adds up to 4/4
And than say its just 4/4 even tho it takes 32 bars
yea they say its 4/4 cause tomas plays the crash in 4/4
and then the snare comes also in like beat 3 or wherever
guys anyone ever used kammerton to tune?
A what?
Point taken
Means concert pitch I believe lol
Not sure what you mean by that to tune... concert pitch is just what A is equal to, often used in orchestral performances to tune depending on the time period of the music concert pitch can change.
What you are asking doesn't really make any sense.
Technically no matter what you tune to that would be your concert pitch...
Most common western modern tunings are A=440 though so that's what most people tune to
May I ask a question for all the bassists here?
What brand of amps do you guys use on gigs and at home?
Dark glass all the way for me
For doing legato on 3 notes with whole step in between, what fingers do you prefer
say, 12p10p8h10h12
Higher up fretboard I tend to use my pointy, ring and pinky
Lower pointy, middle and pinky
oh nice
is the plek option worth it in sweetwater
im about to order ibanez rgixl7 and later ibanez rg8520 j custom
Dying to get my hands on a gio 🙏
Im currently using 10-52 strings on my 24.75″ (628mm) guitar for drop B and its bit too floppy, im thinking about either 11-56 or 12-56 strings, im simply not sure about the higher string gauges, would the jump from 10 to 11's be barely noticable, im guessing, so 12s would be better?
11-56 is a bit light still 12-56 is around the sweet spot tension zone for that tuning on that scale length
You can always try both see what you prefer
You have mixed sets. Light top heavy bottom
11's are fine for the high E imo but you do need something closer to 56 indeed
For drop B you dont need 12's per se.
yeah, im fairly sure 56 is the sweet gauge for lower strings but im just going back and forth thinking about either 12s or 11s, as I also sometimes play drop C and drop D and even drop A# (the pain of owning a single decent guitar)
Higher strings are a bit up to taste
I especially because its a low tuning but also not 'too' low to get specifically need a very heavy set
He said drop B I'm thinking it's a 6 string tuned to C standard then to drop B?
Could be very wrong though I am literally getting my eyes checked in 2 minutes
Yea
C standard + low B
Basically Mastodon tuning
B F# B E G# C#
Yep
🤝
yea
11s would probably be decent for that job
especially regarding the fact i might sometimes go up or down 1 step
Yeah theyd be fine
cheers man!
It does feel a bit more slinky, but you are not chugging on your high e
Yeah for solos a bit slinky is even nice
it actually makes it easier to ring out with hammer ons, legato, tapping etc
just gotta make sure its not that slinky that it buzzes from 1st fret lol
Or that it gets out of tune by fretting it because its get bend with the slightest touch
I once drop tuned to drop A with 10's and it gets a bit icky
Oh yeah i once did the same with 11-49s, it was absolutely disgusting
And then tried out drop G# as well with the samw gauge 💀💀
And if 11s dont work ghat well on B then i cans simply go for 12s no issue
I'm currently trying 10-46 for E standard (mostly to fix my neck bowing issue) I don't know why I've always liked heavier gauges
I mean heavier are way nicer for those fat chugs and gallops
But 10-46 on e standard is kind of the perfect one probably for thst tuning
Maybe even smth like 10-49 if these types of sets are made
You can get them made
As ik james hetfield uses 11-49 i think
Yea
I even like them for bending I find tighter strings feel like they bend faster and more stable but could just be me tripping
Orobably more accurately and way more stable yeah but im p sure lighter ones bend way mpre easily and faster ofc
Lighter strings are harder to control while bending
But if you can, you have more and faster bending options available
I have to think about Vai and Bonamassa that use a lot microbends but also bend huge intervals
Yea, I jump between them and I have different guitars setup heavy and light depending on my needs.
I'm just waiting to buy a new neck so my string height doesn't need to be 2.5mm 0_0
I want to try to do some sort of humidity treatment on my current neck to bend it back to something good but don't have the gear to try and do that.
this was my first electric guitar
loved it
can anyone ID this guitar

My ears have stopped working
I was just wondering what did musicians of 20xx century use, before tuners we know were invented. I mean there's piano, but piano is an acoustic instrument that has an ability to detune. Guitar and bass can be tuned by Octaves, but only if there's at least one string in tune, so we have to have something, that never detunes - kammerton
Am i still wrong somewhere?

People mostly used tuning forks to tune using relative pitch before our tuners.
What did people tune to before tuning forks and all of that. They just tuned to their instrument and those around them using relative pitch.
Concert pitch after 1939 is just that A above middle C is equal to 440Hz which is now just referred to as concert pitch.
Before that tuning was make sound and have a pitch everything tunes relative to that pitch.
Still in many cultures tuning is just relative to everyone around them and they don't follow a 12 tone scale which to many western listeners sounds awful because of the harmonic structure tending to have a lot of tension and harmonies that don't fit what we have always heard.
The tuning fork is called kammerton. That's the thing i meant the first time
Turns out i took a right guess
Can we get any of the Germans to translate "Kámmerton" to English please.
My German isn't great but it doesn't translate to tuning fork right and more to like chamber tone which was close enough to concert pitch.
I'm 99% sure that tuning fork is called Stimmgabel
That's a synonym. In russian the word for it is "kammerton" (idk why, maybe it's because of prussian influence)
Russian google doesn't see any difference between stimmgabel and kammerton
Russian?
The Russian word for tunning fork is камертона which in rough translation into English pronunciation is like... kamertona.
that’s not German
It is... It's also definitely not Russian.
This is all German
I typed the a wrong...
I have a possible project for any bored guitarists that might take like 10-30 minutes
What is it?
Could you possibly turn this into a metal riff? Take a few liberties if you need just wondering
What genre?
That rythm is already pretty bouncy fun djent type thing but it can be smoothened out for something else...
I like the idea of that bouncy djent type thing because when my friend made the original song it was super bouncy light pop
Cool, well once I'm home I can take a look care if I DM you as well?
I don’t mind
Do you want to keep it in Gb major?
Tuning can go to whatever, but preferably somewhat close
I'll keep the key as is then.
Which j custom should I get
Blue
Def the blue.
green
if i knew how to read
no chance that could be converted into tabs?
I’ll see
Super easily
I lean more with the green just because I'm more used to the electronics (2 humbuckers with option to split coils). Colours look great on both guitars but sometimes they can look slightly different in person so I'm wondering how light/dark that green would be (I like how dark it looks in the photo).
Yea alot of people I have asked said they prefer the Green so it might be the one
It's pretty unique in the 3 way switch and split coil switch
I much prefer HSH config but the two humbucker with the split is still very nice
Prefer HSH as well
@short basalt Here is an idea for that thing let me know if this fits what you are looking for or not...
With the bass to just bridge the gap.
Any1 know what guitars Sylosis use?
Esp, mayo, LTD I bet others...
ESP/LTD and Jackson
Mayo is for the other architects guitarist. And Josh ain’t apart of architects anymore
Josh mainly tours with his Ltd signature and Alex plays mainly his Jackson Mick Thomson signature

I’ve seen em use a Gibson too in the video for Teras walkthrough
That was from before Josh signed with esp
I see
Their current line up is esp and Jackson’s

Does anyone have any suggestions for 7-string humbucker pickups?
I have a factory set that just doesn't get the chunk than I'd like as my 6-string with the same amp settings
Fishman fluence modern
Is there a difference between ceramic or metal
do you want active or passive

what does your guitar have rn
if you know
if you don’t just tell me the guitar model and I’ll find out for you
could I make an alternative suggestion
Sure
a $300 pickup set in a $200 guitar isn’t gonna be a good investment
^
exchange it for what exactly
I like Ibanez guitars a lot so I'm gonna search for one around €400-500
Any recommendations for 7-strings
any Ibanez in that range will be good
try and avoid Gios they’re around the same level as your current guitar
i.e. not bad but not good
I personally play a Jackson but it’s a bit more expensive
as in pickups, etc?
oh my bad
misinterpreted
the fishmans as mentioned above are very good however active pickups will require a battery slot
some wiring
I was literally just looking at Ibanez GRG7221 Gio Black Flat
could be more money than you expect
ye like
gios are fine
but they’re a budget guitar and you’re trying to upgrade your budget guitar
anyways fishmans are also what just about everyone uses so yeah they have that modern metalcore sound
and I myself do want a pair of Matt heafy sigs
but you also can’t go wrong with Seymour Duncan
their Blackouts are in some respects better than the Fishmans
and I do want a pair of Corey Beaulieu sigs
still active tho
for passive pickups I recommend Bare Knuckle, DiMarzio, and Seymour Duncan again
Mmm bareknucklepickups
this one also has passive pickups
dunno, google it
don’t eat the pickups
It's by Ibanez
hm
Ibanez Quantum Humbucker
I'm going to go for the Ibanez RGA742FM Transparent Gray Flat
:D
It looks awesome
Guys
Do any of you have an 8 string Harley Benton? How do you like it?
No and I love it
#thall #djent #metal #mandolin
You don't need to tune low for heavy riffs.
The mandolin was made by a company founded in 1904, Alex-Sergo Muusikariistade Tööstus. It originally had 12 strings (4 tripled) but only five remain.
Tuning: C# G# C# F# A (tuned by ear)
Gauges: idfk
this qualifies as bass right
also here's the original riff, every instrument is programmed
Hey all, I’m looking at learning the guitar but I need help figuring out which bits of kit I need, I’ve tried google but it’s about as useful as asking a wall. Would anyone be willing to spare 10 or so minutes to give a hand?
You will need to first choose what kind of guitar you want to learn.
If you want to learn acoustic or classical then you have to buy one.
If you are looking for electric guitar, you will need to buy one of those then an amplifier and a guitar cable with some guitar picks.
Yeah I’ve chosen out an electric guitar with all the extra accessories, I was wondering what specific bits of kit I’d need to play the audio through my pc into my headphones as opposed to a speaker

Just need an audio interface and amp plugins, I'd recommend scarlett 2i2 3rd/4th generation both are will do whatever you will throw at them. For the plugins nueral dsp is generally the biggest name but they aren't free.
There are others out there that are free and still solid.
What do you mean by the plugins? Can you link me an example?
I need one of those to play through my computer?
There are other ways and some specific amps you can run into a interface but I've never done it myself.
What 90% of guitarist that play through a computer use are plugins though.
What amp do you currently have?
If you are looking to play through headphones your amp may already allow for that
I don’t currently have any of the gear
All I’m currently looking for is the bare minimum to play through my pc and expand from there
Would the Scarlett 2i2 not be enough to get that working?
You will need the interface and a plugin.
If your headphone jack is 1/8th then you will need a 1/4 adapter, and just need a guitar cable to be able to plug into the interface
Right I’ll look into getting some, thanks a lot for the info ❤️
No worries, as well there are a few free plugins as well.
Plenty of reviews on YouTube
Do you have any links to the free ones?
FREE AMP SIM! Amped Roots Free is our first amp sim release and it comes with a free amp. We want everyone to experience our amp modeling quality and plug'n'play design. Just like with real amps you will not spend a lot of time tweaking. This plugin is made in collaboration with our good friend Ryan "Fluff" Bruce and t
Beat me too it lmao just copied the link
Lol
I'd share the Nalex stuff but it's gone.
The blog ain't there anymore.
Which is the better one?
That's up to you and what you will do with them
What genres are you planning to play?
Why not try both see what you end up liking the most.
What Conic said. Though if you want an all in one thing without the need for an external IR loader (which thankfully the Emissary will give you when you DL it) including built in fx, Amped Roots is the way to go, though the quality of the FX are mid.
If you don't care about all that and prefer to use the FX in your DAW and load up an external loader then Emissary is the way to go.
Tone wise it's a coin flip.
So I’ve downloaded emissary and it’s saying to restart my favourite AAX/AU/VST/VST3 host, what would that be?
That would be your DAW.
What do you use?
Oh yeah right sorry you missed the earlier conversation, so I’m new, looking to get the basic gear to run a guitars audio through my pc rather than a speaker
So currently I don’t have any of the gear, I have the Scarlett 3rd gen and that emissary so far
Well you need a DAW to load the Emissary in. I would suggest Reaper since it's free.
Do they not have standalone?
I don't believe Emissary has a standalone.

This^
Reapers no longer free, but I can always buy it, would you say it’s worth it?
Or would you recommend something else now it costs
It's free, you can download it you don't need to pay
It offers for you to buy it but you don't need to...
Right I’ll download it now
Sorry if I’m being dumb asf with this, it’s so daunting with there being so much stuff
Reaper allows you to customize it too to your liking.
It is definitely at first I think many of us felt the same way
Trust me, when I first started like 5 years ago, I was scared shitless cuz I had no idea what I was doing. Nobody taught me how to do shit. I had watch videos to learn because I wasn't in a discord server with anyone knowledgeable on the subject.
Yeah I was going to try soloing it but google was driving me insane, so I thought Niks community has always seemed good, glad you guys can help me out
Anyways, I’ve got reaper installed now
So are the only things I need to buy the focusrite Scarlett and the jack wires/adapters?
Most Scarletts are USB powered from your computer so you don't gotta worry. Just need the cable to connect to the computer. As well as a 1/4 inch cable to plug your guitar into the interface.
Oh right that’s great then
So I don’t really need to worry about anything else until the guitars/equipment has arrived
Pretty much.
If you don't like the Emissary that's fine because ML has a standalone.
You can actually get fancy like me and plug in an expression pedal like a wah or volume pedal in front of the interface.
Just plug the guitar into the pedal then the pedal into the interface. The only reason I have real pedals was due to my time in a band lol.
I don’t think I’m quite ready for fancy stuff
I do appreciate all the help though
I’ll get this stuff sorted and probably get back to you
Thanks for all of this ❤️
This is correct, right?
No no no. You can use a standard guitar cable.
Sorry my production brain kicked in XD
I’m confused now
That's a quarter inch to XLR cable.
Treat me like an idiot, it’ll be easier xD
Basically it's a guitar cable one end, and a microphone cable on the other.
You want something like this.
Right got one
So that’ll connect the guitar to whatever the Scarlett thing is?
Yessiiirrr
Brilliant, thank you
Np :3

God don’t get me looking at more guitars Ive suffered enough trauma for today
Lol what did you get?
Not bad. I personally wouldn't go with a GIO but hey for a cheap guitar you could do worse.
It's just one to learn on, once I'm deep in it down the line I'll probably make a much worse financial decision xD
My concern is if it's comfortable for you. GIOs have a.....reputation
Hey man I'm just lookin out for ya.
If you don't like the guitar I have a few suggestions for ye.
Well the guitar comes with a 30 day money back guarentee provided i don't annihilate it
So if it's not to my liking I can always send it back and get some recommendations
Aristides guitars have entered the chat
Thanks anyways guys, it is appreciated ^^
im just playing around so dont mind the bad playing but can anyone tell me how to make this tone better, if it helps im using a custom preset on archetype gojira.
What guitar are you using? What do you want the tone to be like?
using an epiphone les paul. Im looking for a tone that is a mix of post hardcore bands of the early 2000s and Chevelle's Sci-FI Crimes. Its hard to hear the higher strings for some reason. My main issue is that the tone hurts my ears for some reason and im not sure why
for some reason my fourth stringhas always sounded funky
Is A# G C F A D a real tuning?
any tuning is a real tuning if you try hard enough.
It's an interesting one for sure
I use C# G# C# F# A on this shi
First 8 string. Just picked her up a day ago
What a beauty
Thanks!
awesome!!
Probably picking up a 5150 today to go with her
I ordered an Ibanez RGA742FM Transparent Gray Flat 7-string today. Can't wait to play it
Hell yeah! Those are sick!
I'll say it again and again, there's nothing better than a 7 string
Have fun with it dude!
I'm trying to decide if I want my 7 string to have an evertune or a trem.
I like doing trem effects but I don't think I'd use them on the 7th string and I can just use my modded strat for all my trem work.
As well for live shows I think the evertune is just going to be the best.
I'd argue that depends a lot on your style. I never use nor wish I had a trem, but then there's people like Adam DeMicco who couldnt play a single song without one so yeah.
Depends on what you wanna play live I guess and what you're writing
Prog metal stuff.
I use my trem often but I think anything that needs a trem I can just use my strat...
I use my trem for probably 35-40% of my writing I like flutters and just light stuff...
5150 acquired
That's quite a lot if you ask me, but that's only a decision you can make. If you think you can handle only having the 6 and not needing it on the 7 that's good, but ultimately you know best what you want/need
As in 40% of my songs use a trem not my playing haha
Oh okay, that's quite a different thing then
Ya lol
real
serious question here. im new to this whole amp modeling concept. does anyone in here have a line 6 HX and mind showing a noob how to dial it?
please ping when replying
and is it viable?
I didn’t feel like I had a lot to add to the conversation, not much of an expert on guitars yk
Probably, especially for proggier stuff
Power chords/tritones are gonna be weird to play
i thought powere chords would be same as a regular standard tuning
unless im usiong the wrong tuning
can i use it in grindcore?
Power chords (on two strings) are p much two notes 5 whole tones apart, e.g A# F
Standard tunings start at 4 whole tones apart
So pretty much if you drop the first string from standard by a whole tone you can play power chords with one finger, which is the idea of drop d/other drop tunings
Probably would sound interesting, maybe not perfect if you wanna play basic grindcore tho
As I said it’s very prog
Very cool. I got the white one 15w (:
What is that guitar. It looks sick 😱
It’s a Legator
The white one looks so sick!

Sup guys
I'm searching for orchestral, piano and synth vst plugins
Do you have any recommendations?
check out Spitfire Labs, they´ve got a shit ton of pretty much anything. Though a fair bit is paywalled, there´s a good few nice ones for free iirc
hey guys, is cubase 13 pro worth getting on this 50% sale?
cuz im rly torn between buying that or airpods pro 2 ,w, and in incredibly indecisive
Will you use it and is it better then what you have for your application?
i will definately use it, cuz atm i have ableton live lite
which is very limiting
only 8 tracks
If you will be using it get it and do yourself and favor and get something better then airpods latter down the line
i mean i wont use them on my pc
but rahter my phone
on my pc i have the DT 770 pros
and studio monitors
the airpods would juist be for day to day use
when im omw to work and stuff likethat
but i think ill get that next month
I'd recommend something better for EDC still but if you want them get them.
if you have recomandations i am welcoming any :3
but
im getting cubase rn
isnt that the daw that nik uses?
what’s wrong with AirPods for everyday use?
if it’s just for having music in like
if it fits in your ear and won’t fall out then it works
yeah thats rly the only thing i need it for, cuz taking a busy bus everyday at least twice without music is a torment i dont wish upon anyone
XD
cubase 13 pro has been added to the inventory
They are just expensive for the quality you are getting, often can spend less and get the same quality...
They are fine just think there are better options for the same price or the same for less.
After school I can share other options if you want to compare.
sure :3
Its a good DAW but for a fraction of the price you can get Studio One 6 pro
Cubase is a bit too oldschool and when it comes to workflow amd organization of screen clutter Studio One is way better imo. I also like Ableton
You got me hooked on studio one... Definitely my favorite out of the ones I had tried.
Anyone tried the axe fx 3. I been eyeing it alot I have kemper but the axe fx is very tempting
Yeah, it has some great vst's included, but the interface is what truly makes it a gem imo. With many DAWs the screen clutter stresses me out
axe fx is a ton better than the kemper imo.
a lot goes on in there but boi does it sound better
also the only modeller that can do volume swells actually well
Yea that's why I been interested you can really go in depth with ur tone. And also it has mesa mark amps that I like and it seems to respond similar to one. I like the mark 5 and 2c+
2+ºC -> 35.6ºF
Is there a difference between fm3 and axe fx 3. I know one would be the cpu space which I do not know if fm3 has enough space or not.
New guitar
Nice orange color
you can really smell the orange
what case do ya'll recommend for a Schecter Omen Elite-8?
1620 SGR-1C C-Shape Hardcase
-1ºC -> 30.2ºF
Nuh uh

Hella sloppy take but I’m trying to dial my AJFA tone in lol
Whoa, both those guitars look awesome. I’ve never seen a coloured, quilted fretboard like the one on that prs before. (Also, Buckethead 🙌)
Tune the a# to an A and yes then you have a periphery tuning
guys there's a school talent show in a weeks time. What should I play
lowest I can go is drop C
and i'm ass so don't gimme a hard solo
I said drop C but I was thinking something more standdard based 😭
D standard+
idk
I can't go too heavy either
because the people in my school are pussies
fucken go for it vro
bro if I started playing something hevay i'd get blank stares and i'd look like an idiot
do standard tuning but with like dissonant chugs and shit
like first three strings respectively going g# a d#
fuck load of distortion
at this point i should just play Counting Worms in E standard
that is 5th fret, 0, 1st fret respectively
yuh ik
wait
fourth fret low string
more dissonance
eaz
fuck i meant 4th i don't have stringed instruments nearby and im stoned as shit
real tvh
fr
Play Absolomb it's a super fun song
ITS 7 MINUTES LONG I HAVE A WEEK
A week for a single song is super doable hour or two a day and you will have it.
I got tabs if needed
It's 4 pages long of tab so it may be a long song but a lot of repeating rythms.
For any song focus on the rythm and the feel first then worry about the notes.
Play the rythm on even just an open string and then work into the notes.
thanks
If you want to do it, it's a groovy af song and not the typical thrash you see all the time might get a crowd really moving with it...
im thinking of doing Live Wire by Motley Curue but idk
I'd say if you had more time learn the clean vocal parts they are so good lol.
i cant sing
Ah
Nice
I now want to listen to periphery
lol
I want to write a song with peripherys groves and Aaron Marshall's lead playing
do it rthen
Someday I'm just to damn busy.
fair
I've always liked the intro basic and fun.
Playing for a talent show is one of the best feelings
im not good at playing infront of people
Learning how to tune them out and be in the music is hard but once you do it it's the best
fr
I'm planning to write a 6/8 drum Grove under a 4/4 guitar part and have a cool polymeter going on love how they feel together
i'm assuming so
If you know what song you’re doing i could cook up a backing track for ya
thanks a lot man!
This one I’m assuming
probably
Expect it in 2-3h
i'm giving it a solo 💀
Does axe fx 3 not come with a foot controller already?😭
attempted to get the drums, really confusing shit tbh
kinda ass but I think it will do ok for a school talent show
what drum library are you using and are you aware that krimh drums has a free version
My fucken edrums in slicex lmfao
I’ll check your suggestion out later
bro go get the free krimh drums lmao
treat yo self
.
this isn't the krimh drums, but it's a product by the same company that uses the same engine
it just happens to be the trivium drums
so that should tell you how good their drum libraries are
In my defense though this is p much as good as the samples I use can get
(All instruments programmes obv)
like granted it's not bad
it just
sounds like harm.icu and you don't always need to sound like that
What’s that
what your library sounds like

it does
I need help deciding so I recently got into the sound of an axe fx from seeing many reviews. Do I get an axe fx 3 turbo or ibanez rg8520 j custom first? I could go either way as I currently have a kemper and guitars I have ibanez az2402 amd rg genesis.
figured if I was gonna get Jazz III picks i might as well go with the Heafys
Nice
lukewarm on them so far
My fingernails eroding after learning hybrid picking for 2 days
Hell ya
I use the jason richardson jazz 3s in general jazz 3 goated
I use Jazz 3 xl. Perfect shape and point and I like the more regular size of the xl.
Strings are gonna get unbearably floppy
i feel like i'd like the XLs more too
as cool as it is to have the golden pick with the kiichi in japanese on it
Ladies
Gentlemen
And my often forgotten, but certainly, not by me, bassists.
We have a new SOON from Neural.
PLACE YA BETS
Have you tried Rabea's picks?
They are more of a regular shape but come to a point at the very end rather then more rounded.
I haven't tried Rabea's picks but it looks just like a regular Dunlop flow which I do have, but I don't think i've used that much so maybe i'll give them another go. Still comes to a pint but is more round than the jazz 3.
I think you get get used to the jazz 3's, I used one for a day and by the end the xl felt, for lack of better words, large. The xl is really useful if you want the jazz 3 shape without geting used the small size.

Dragons Heart Guitar Picks are pretty unique and their 'Pure' pick is extremely durable. They're quite thick but very comfortable an...
I've definitely seen that pick in a youtube video somewhere but I'm just a hobby player and I can buy a bunch of jazz 3 xl for cheap and not worry about loosing them and they work fine so I've never tried any boutique guitar picks before (those do have a picture of a dragon on them though...).
I want to get some purple plectrums to try
my previous pick was the ernie ball prodigy 2mm
so
these are definitely a lot smaller
G.C.’s near me stopped carrying those so I thought they got discontinued. I now must order some. They’re my favorite picks
i liked them
but i have really short nails so the one advantage of the jazz iiis is that i can pinch a lot easier
Completely fair
Riff for a song I'm working on
very cool
I like the guitar and tone very nice
thanks!
djent
i wanna get it, so badly
Maybe, I'm curious on the features first and how it works.
Should be fun little thing, I don't think it's going to be as powerful so maybe not so many things going on but should be fun
i think it will
at least from watchinf the video from andrew on it
so far seems amazing
So the Nano is all about captures. Basically you can dl or create or your own captures. Any and all modeling stuff is left on the bigger brother.
yeah but you can download different captures on it, and use it onboard
i think-
or am i wrong
You're correct. But any of the modeling stuff the bigger QC does is now omitted.
This focuses strictly on captures. Which in my opinion is somewhat of a missed opportunity.
Okay, I've watched Baena's and Keyan Houshmand's videos and am still uncertain what exactly this does and doesnt do and I'm already irked by no one mentioning the price of the thing
Andertons did a video on it and they clearly lay out what it does.
And the price.
It's €500 which is like 550 or something USD.
Gotta check out more about it before I make up my mind, I'm kind of uncertain what to think of it at this moment
Considering Neural that aint too bad at first glance
It's basically a glorified Kemper without the fx blocks.
Oh, okay
around 600 euro
at least for me
As it stands it seems pretty neat but not like anything I'd desperately need. Especially not for that price
I know the price aint too exceptional given what similar things cost but anyway
I need to look into captures and stuff more... it looks fun might get it to mess around with and gig with friends until I get the QC
You can't use the plugins with it correct?
Nope
Alright, it probably will be neat something fun to have anyway
apparently you can do captures of plugins somehow
Lots of ways
id love to know how, cuz id be stoaked to capture my archetype gojira stuff
Google it a lot of videos and forums explaining it
i see
I think I’ve got my AJFA tone dialed in, could use a tad more gain but I like it
Just picked up this guy
Enjoy
Anyone got good recommendations for a set of strings for a 6 string, wanting to tune it to Drop E. would i be looking at a 8 string set and disregarding the 2 higher strings?
Picked up a couple more Ibanez’s
Ya you could do that, what's the scale length on that thing?
A few companies let you order costume Guage sets you could look into as well.
25.5, old jackson jinky js11
https://stringjoy.com will let you order custom gauges
Drop E on a 25.5 is rough
Probably be looking for around a 90 Guage string for the low string
90-85
i mean, its held out so far but the strings are hella loose. i bellieve its a 12 to 62 guage currently? i cant really remember. normal 12 gauge strings
its been 2 years since i changed them, stopped playing for a while
alright i see, il defo take a look then. il prob take it to the shop because when i got my old stirngs fitted they had to shave the nut a little for the string to fit, i imagine theyd have to do something like that for the 90
62???? Damn that's super flubby, if you like higher tension get 90s if you want typical around like 15lbs of force the 85s
Yea, probably need to drill the tuners and shave the nut...
back when the lowest i tuned was drop C yeah 😂
Ohhhh.... lmfao I thought that for Drop E I was like what. (I'm tired)
Oh i mean thats whats on my current guitar, ive played drop E with it. The lowest ive ever tuned is double Drop D haha, super super loose so thats why i was asking if there was suitable thicker strings
It barely holds out, tuners normally freak the fuck out. 12-60 is perfect for drop c but sorta wants to die after A imo
Drop D down the octave on 25.5 is wild
Ya
the most suprising thing is that ive never had any issues with the strings themselves. being tuned from Drop B all the way down to drop D1. even after 2 years
As in no rust?
yeah that, and no strings snapping with the constant changes in tension
The constant change shouldn't snap the strings.
No rust is unbelievable though, even if the strings are coated... Non coated strings last me about 5 days till they leave enough residue on my fingers after playing that I don't want to touch em.
You probably got the least acidic sweat and the best climate ever.
oh really? i was under the impression that constantly changing the tension and cause the strings to snap. or at least give out
i keep them in the cornor of my room away from sunlight, i havent used them in a long ass time so that might be why
I mean it can... But the likely hood of it is low, we stretch our strings when putting them on which I feel puts more stress on the string then moving tunings.
Thinner strings like 9s or 8s would be when maybe it could have an effect, sharp edges at string contact points (bridge, nut, tuners, saddles) are the real killer when tuning.
I could put on new strings not touch them and they be dead in 2 weeks from the climate 😭
oh dam what climate is that? 😭
A basement in Canada haha. The winters it's much better as it's a lot dryer, my wood necks take a big hit as well
oh wow, you know what i honestly never took into account that stuff could effect guitars and such
For sure, probably good you never have shows you probably never had any big issues with it.
I also work on guitars and fix them for fun and it's a big part of playing guitar for me so I'm very picky on that stuff...
12-60 for drop c is lowkey insane for me
i think thats what i have on my drop a# guitar?
i usually go 11s for drop c, sometimes 10s
hotttt
Yummy
For a lot of rythm playing it can be nice
Although it still is on the tighter end...
It’s a lot for drop c
I’d personally grab an 10-48 set and use a 52 for the low c
Yea, I sometimes like really tight strings they have that weird twang sound I sometimes like.
That's strictly for really fast and heavy rythm picking though only time I'll use them that tight.
If I’m playing fast rhythm I’d still go light with what I do cuz it adds more brightness. But at that point I’m picking extremely efficiency based since I can always add power if it’s necessary
Yea for sure, I like my lower strings around 18lbs and my higher strings around 14lbs
I really like deep heavy picking on heavy low strings because they sound dark but have that tight twang.... It's not an efficient picking style it's purely just for the weird tone.
14 or less
It depends on the guitar... I want to play around more with guages and sonic stuff but don't have the time at all.
recently made a fresh install of Windows, now somehow all my plugins and drivers dont work anymore....
I really hate my computer recently dude.
mood
ngl, this is seriously fkin me up rn
like why the fuck does my Gojira standalone take 2 minutes before it properly boots and why does it make my Reaper crash when opening it there? Why does the same shit happen with STL tones? Why the heck do I have latency issues that I didnt have before with the same settings? I´m going nuts
:
Have you tried reinstalling them again and it's just been not working?
did that for Gojira, didnt do shit. Might try re-installing all audio shit, but if that doesnt work I´m done and also all of this just robs me of all motivation
For sure, reinstalling the audio drivers might be the best bet and just try and get a fresh restart with the new windows. Though to have the motivation to do all of that is super hard after how demotivating this has already been...
I really hope you can get the motivation to just be able to setup a fresh start as it has to work.
I´ll certainly try. I just want to get back to jamming and practicing but just cant do it like this. I´mma go ahead and try my best until I´ve solved it or give up
Like having a fresh start can feel super fun but you really gotta be in the mood for it.
Hopefully you can try and it works if not just take 15 minutes go for a walk around breath in the air and bring yourself to the excitement of getting a new fresh slate that you can have setup perfectly how you want.
Yeah, I reset everything for one because I had issues with my computer on the technical side (which I hopefully solved, fingers crossed) and took the opportunity to get a fresh start.
Now my hard drive is nice and clean, but nothing works anymore. I´mma de-install everything, update all drivers, re-install shit, and try again, hopefully that´ll do it. Might have to get some adapters for my audio interface as well, so far I´ve always circumvented ASIO outputs because my speakers dont have the proper 6,25mm cables to make it work directly. Let´s see. Thanks for the motivation dude
Yea that's the issue with a fresh start gotta build back up that goes for anything in life...
But make the best of it and focus on that fact you get to have everything you want now and you get to make it exactly how you want it.
Goodluck on the cables.
Keep us updated on how it goes, make this your new perfect rig.
What's a decent amp to start with in the $300-500 range?
What kind of music do you want to play?
Just getting into the metal scene, coming from the indie scene.
Been really into Archspire and Rings of Saturn recently. Specifically RoS's Ultu Ulla album and Archspires Relentless Mutation
Already picked up a Schecter omen- 8 elite multiscale as my first electric guitar, third overall.
Indie to archspire and rings of Saturn damn
Hitting 30 does shit to ya
Fair enough, ugh I'll look. Do you want just an amp head or a combo amp?
As well USD?
Yeah, USD
Either or. Think I've found one?
Get just the amp not the bundle... The that amp definitely could work for ya. If you can go to a store and try them out first see if you like them.
I'd also recommend you could look into blackstars catalog of amps, get an amp and a distortion pedal probably a good starter setup
Update, apparently NDSP Gojira is fucked. Dont ask me why, but it takes 3,5 minutes to load/boot, standalone and in Reaper. Shit´s fucked, reinstalling didnt help, now lets see what the support has to say cuz the internet isnt helpful either.
Nuerals support is honestly amazing, never had one issue with them.
They have spent hours working with me on my computer to sort out problems like that.
100%
I'm friends with some of the beta testers and stuff for the QCs as well, really great group.
They should be able to sort it out.
If looking for all in one boss katana is the most versatile
I'll check out the guitar shop after work 🙏
Any sort of distortion pedal would do?
I've only ever had a lute and a flamenco 😅
They all will sound different so I'd try out a few different ones with the amp you plan to get to see what you like.
🙏
the amp also has software support to tweak tones
i fouind 12 and 60 was the best for me, held really really tightly and played so so nice. perfect for Soad
QC’s
Nom nom
Cute lil revv
Don't need it, got the big boi version 🤣
luckyy, ill be getting it cuz i cant afford the quad
Dunno why but guitar amps are pleasing to look at
They are aren’t they
I want the rockerverb head just so the cab and head match, even tho it's unlikely I'd ever use the tube amp lmao
I'm kind of regretting getting the black version tho considering their signature is that colour but oh well.
They’re too good together ngl
for a beginner bedroom guitarist (like me) i feel like getting a quad would be a waste of money, cuz i can get a nano cortex, have all those captures to play with, and get something like the digitech whammy
but now if i did more serious stuff like play live or do genuine songs and not just my lil instrumental projects, then yeah id prolly get the quad
I mean you could also just use the Neural plug ins too and save yourself a heap of money
Especially as now they've started integrating plug-ins on the QC you could use them on that when you upgade lol
i already do. the gojira x and fortin nameless x, but i wanna experience the captures of something like rare expensive amps
tru that
Go to guitar shops and try out the fancy amps haha
none near me
im currently working in the tourist hotspot of croatia, Dubrovnik
and there isnt a single music related store here
;-;
That sucks
Having the screen is so much of a game changer, and a big complaint that the nano doesn't have one
so if i wanna buy anything music related, Germany and thomann are my best friends
Yea... I luckily just started a savings for a QC still down the line of things to pay off and save for but it's officially started
Yea...
id do the same, but im just not sure if im ready to spend that much money
the most money i ever spent in one go is on my schecter sunset 7 extreme
and that was 1k
Save up PAST what you need. It makes things easier when you're not blowing your "life savings". I aim for 3x the list price that way if another emergency comes up, or there's a fault etc you have money to cover it and aren't left short.
That's fair, I also only have to pay for 50% of one as I got support from a parent who is going to match whatever I put towards one.
I don't think a QC is worth it for just recording at home as well. So if you aren't playing live or with groups often I don't see a reason for one.
Case and point, I just bought a 9 month old car, spent a decent chunk on the deposit... Less than 3 months later someone has already scuffed the bumper so I need to get that repaired. Thankfully I did the 3x the value so I can cover the cost of the repair without substantial hardship
smart
thats why im like, ehhhhh thats expensive-
cuz the most i ever got from my pay check is 1.5k euro a month
and it varries each month
Obviously tweak to taste/requirements. I don't expect to have 3x the value of a house to put a deposit down
But on a £1500 piece of kit, you want at least £3000 saved up, £2000 at a push
I just have to many wants, currently saving for my first fursuit partial, a custom outfit and a used car.
Once those are done QC is on its way.
Put 10%-15% aside towards something slowly save up.
same here-
gotta try for a drivers license soon
the nano cortex
a vr headset
i need to lower my expectations
xD
Yep, find a method that suits you. I have about 15 bank accounts 🤣 and just do a standing order at the start of each month and work out what everything costs annually, then split that down by periods, and then just "bill" myself that
I just work my butt off because I want so much so mine as well work as much as I can when I have the energy and time so I can get what I want later be happy and have the free time to enjoy them.
same here
this is my first job, right after school started working fulltime at one of the biggest tourist spots in croatia
xD
You live at home with parents?
Yea working out costs and budgeting has been a big help.
I have my monthly costs always layed out.
As well meal prep can't stress that enough batch cook food for each week and eating out as little as possible has saved me a lot...
Nice
nop, moved to my aunt's place to get this job, literally the other side of the country
OK, what I meant was, you're not having to foot a full rent bill, gas and electric etc. So while you can, throw as much in savings, preferably a tax wrapper savings account
^
Nixe
I'm earning upwards of 2K a year just from interest alone, and because it's in a tax free savings account I don't have to pay tax on it
I just took on a manufacturing job doing custom metal work and installing windows for buildings.
First full time gig, then weekends and free time I tend to my knife sharpening business and any other work needed.
Yummy, what is it with musical people knowing this stuff?
My trumpet teacher has been teaching me a lot about this stuff as well lol.
No idea, I just looked into it all when I started building substantial savings and wanted to make sure I was getting maximum retuns from it
For sure, maybe because our gigs are so expensive lol
