medium
30 inch scale if im not mistaken
the jazzmaster is 21 too but
im not sure if its the same scale length
lemme check
baritone is a longer scale so it's not the same scale length
it should be 25.5
on the standard one
yeah its 25.5
can i get any info out of knowing it's 4.5 inches shorter than the baritone?
keep in mind im not that well informed when it comes to guitar specs
i just kind of know how a guitar works D:D:
the scale length is the length the string ring with no fret used so it's from the nut to the bridge
and if the neck is not the same size the neck socket to the bridge size don't change
and because everything needs to be proportional the part from the neck socket to the bridge should be longer too
it's kinda like stretching an elastic rubber for example you put a mark on the 1/3 of the ruber strech it out a bit to make it longer the mark is still at 1/3 but the 1st 3rd is longer than before as well as the 2 other 3rds basically here the 1st 3rd is the body the neck socket to the bridge and the 2 others 3rds is the neck
i hope you understand what i mean
ohhhh ok
so i could experience some issues from the fact that
the neck is a bit out of proportion from the body
yes
so longer neck means bigger body too usaully
it's not really the body itself but the bridge placement on the body
longer the scale length further back the bridge will be on the body usally
to give a better example on a bass the bridge is almost all the time on the edge of the body due to the very long scale length compared to a guitar
ok so going back to the analogy of the elastic rubber
i need to stretch both ends not leaving one at the same place
yes
if one side is getting longer the other has to as well
alright got it
wait so
if i get a baritone neck
doesnt that mean i will
most definitely need to
change the place of the bridge
and probably give it to a luthier
it depends the place where the neck socket will be place relatively to the frets
but you most likely have to change the bridge's place
ohhhh ok this too
what if
what if the neck socket fits perfectly
i'd still have to change the place of the
bridge
or it doesnt matter if th eneck fits perfectly
the dimensions of the neck socket to put it on the body has nothing to with the scale length
yeah dumb of me to ask sorry haha
it changes if for example relatively to the fretboard if the neck socket is under the 21st fret or 20th or in between and stuff like this but you have like 99% chance stat taken out of a magician's hat you will have to change the bridge's place
sigh...
its so discouraging cause like
a jazzmaster baritone NECK is already out of stock everywhere
at the same time there's barely any jazzmaster baritone guitars on the market
AND they're relatively expensive
my buddy lent me his guitar… i think he just wants me to clean it for him
Any advice for a beginner guitar and amp?
Don’t overspend, chances are what you’ll get is gonna be pretty shit, but make sure it’s something you wanna do first
For the guitar, I’ve never owned one but a lot of people go for a fender squier strat
Fender also makes some decent cheap amps
Check the used market as well, you can find a lot of good equipment.
As well, depending on what you plan on doing with the guitar and amp and what style you plan on playing, try and find something that can suit your wants and needs. If you can go to a local guitar store and try out different amps and guitars, find something you like, and then look on the used market to see if you can find them cheaper.
Firstly you should know what genre you want to play then find a few products that fit your style and budget.
after that, go to a store and try those products and find the ones which speak to you
i as a beginner myself, am trying the same technique
budget products can be really hit or miss
i recently bought an open box 60$ guitar, aside from the 21 frets its very well built keeping the price in mind
also a similarly priced orange crush mini with only three control knobs is very versatile
dont knock anything until you try it
The orange crush mini is alright It doesn't have great projection when using its clean tone, do note I own one and I do enjoy it a lot and it is great for just messing around or just bringing it around with you
Idk how to play yet, so is there anything in particular I should be looking for?
oh thats not what i meant when i said that
what i mean by that is what type of genre you listen to
and want to learn to play
like for metal you need distortion and for that you would need a guitar with a humbucker rather than a single coil
Its distortion goes AKJHFIUAHJSJK though it has a solid amount of dirt
ye
i mean its literally a 9v powered 3w box
Ya
Sure is, my local store has some proper orange amps and I really want one the question is "do i need one?"
Ah
Noted
and if you want to play blues i would recommend a strat style guitar
for more versatility you can buy hss or hsh configured guitars
Ya I use all my guitars besides my acoustic as its more a history piece, I use already both my amps depending on what I'm playing then the little orange guy for busking and that sort.
hh configuration also works but sometimes the pickup selector is 3 way and is goes from neck - both - bridge position
once the amps battery ran out
so i bought a 9v
it didnt give any output
so i put in the old battery
and it worked
turns out it needs alkaline batteries
It sounds like garbage running on just a battery
dont crank up the distortion on low battery 😭
haha ya
the poor guy hates it
Aight
I think I have what I need
Thanks for the input y'all
make sure to do your research
any doubt you can ask me directly or message here
glad i could be of help
be a good buddy, clean it with water, dishwashing soap, and some vinegar to kill all the germs (ITS A JOKE DONT DO ANY OF IT)
amp: boss katana 100w or yamaha thr 10, green or beige one. Alternative: plugins
guitar: yamaha pacifica, squier affinity deluxe telecaster (just 250 euros, plays great, i own one)
and look into pins in #🎸-old-musician-talk where phrost gathered all needed information for beginners in one file
Honestly wouldnt use vinegar if you dont know what youre doing. It can cause severe oxidization on metal parts
Or even rust if there miniscule damaging
For bodywork, depending on the finish its fine
hmmm not sure
But would just use specified cleaners
do you know of people who did that or smth?
this
or only well proven fool proof solutions
You can use vinegar on some finishes as long as you rinse/wipe it of thoroughly afterwards
But Its just not necessary to use it
hahaha no i just used my nomad tool
got that dust right off
still reeks of cat hair, which the inside of the bag is covered in
not much i can do about that tho
plays incredibly tho 💯
strings definitely need changing but i'm not dealing with that either, just need it for the week to do a guitar solo for a competition in B standard
as an allergic person, i'd die
couldn't you play in e standard?
well the backing track is on a seven string in b standard
my guitar is in drop g
and he hasn’t even opened the case for his in six months, so he lent his
hm
drop g is just a tone lower if you use a 7 string
like definitely doable
it's doable in any tuning
but in this one it's extra easy
yeah it’s doable but like
bro offered
and now i have a slightly better guitar for a week or so
Guys I think I found the next purchase
The Harley Benton Amarok damn she’s a fine instrument I love that grey wood tone 🫠
Enjoy
Theres several with Gotoh locking tuners
Half of my guitars has locking tuners lmao
I know some in the AZ prestige line have locking tuners...
But only 2 had locking tuners stock
Also some iron label variants have em
check india region
No. Im not from India. But Ibanez does have a lot of models with locking tuners
importing guitars in india
yes bro i would rather set fire to all my money
the courier here
Well than look at their line up, see which ones have locking tuners than check which ones are sold in your country
But Ibanez have a lot of guitars with locking tuners is what Im saying
RGAIX6MQM
Apparently I don’t have a pic of the tuners
They’re the gotoh ones
Yeqh but theres also the AZ prestige line
Many of em also have gotoh tuners
I was just saying based on personal experience
Plus I like the RGA body style more than the AZ
gotoh MG-t locking tuners
Hey,
I'm completely new to the guitar world and I'm looking to get my first electric guitar and amp. For the amp I'm deciding between Blackstar ID:Core20 V3 and
Marshall Code 25. Which one do you think is better?
Try them both out in person. They may have sounds/frequencies you don't like. I'm not a fan of the Blackstar sound, but it might be up your ally, who knows.
Thanks for your advice, but that might not be possible for me. I didn't find a store that has both amps where I live.
new compulsive buy from me
Have you looked online trying to find demo videos?
Yeah, but I'm still undecided. Maybe I should just go for one. I can always switch later
Damn I wanna make my pedal board but it is not cheap for what I want
Would this be a better option?
The pod go is a good option
Lots of pedals and options
It’s also pretty expensive too 💀
Less expensive
Depends how much quality you want/expect
Maybe there’s one for a bit more with better quality
Maybe the Line 6 m9 or m13 which has pretty transparent fx
But its not an amp modeller
I just need something that’s gonna be good live for effects and stuff
I honestly wouldnt dare to spend 200 bucks on any amp modeller
But for fx the line 6 M series is pretty good
But you would need a seperate expression pedal I believe
Perhaps even the boss GT line
These ones
That is also an expensive modeler
But if it’s good then it would be worth it
I think its based on the Line 6 Helix, so its good for sure.
Yeah, I just read it has the same engine, and the Line 6 Helix has a lot of good effects, so if you gonna use a traditional set up with a tube amp and pedals this would definitely be a good pick I would say.
For the expression pedal you gonna need to check your impedances though. The Roland EV-5 might be mainly used for keyboars, but Im not entirely sure.
I have a fender twin reverb rn
I’m starting to look into gear because my band is planning on start playing in the fall
Thats a good amp. If you gonna play heavy stuff you gonna need a good distortion pedal though
based
I mean...it 'works' but imo its an unpleasant sounding distortion
I have a distortion pedal but it sounds like shit
Usually I just plug my laptop in through my focusrite and use archetype gojira
I looked and maybe I should get the horizon apex preamp
Thats good stuff for sure
I mean...you should also make a little calculation amd see if you cant just get a good tube amp thats more equipped for metal with the money you are willing to put down now. It depends on what your current priorities are of course
Yeah true but I wanna try to get something that’ll work with that rig if it’s possible
Maybe this but I’d probably still need a cab right
Yes but cabs dont need to be to expensive.
You could also check out Bugera amps/cabs. Massive sounding tube amps that are not that expensive
if you're going to get a modeler you won't need any distortion pedals
Maybe
Either way is gonna be expensive
Getting a new amp and cab setup or getting a modeler
This really depends. Most more budget modellers have crap digital distortion. So yes you wont need it, but even a boss metalzone is better than most
hmmm i don't think a metalzone would be better
in general amp distortion, either digital or analog, is better than pedals
pedals aren't really for metal
Pedals are an embellishment. Get 80% of your sound from the amp and use the pedals to shape it
Yeah but @bronze orbit has a twin verb and plays hardcore. So hes pretty dependant on something to drive that thing
Yes
Because it locks a good overdriven sound for it but its a great amp and you can get metaltones out of it with a transparent distortion pedal
So yes, best option is good amp for metal and use a tubescreamer/overdrive to taste but otherwise a good distortion pedal can do the job
get a modeler, use the twinverb as a cab
I’m gonna have a lot of explaining to do to my mom
She’s gonna be like why don’t you want to use your sisters amp
And I’m gonna be like I WANT to use it I just can’t use it for hardcore / a live setting unless I did exactly what I do now using archetype gojira through my laptop into the amp which still may not be that good
Also now the vocalist is telling me he’s trying to get us in for September 29th so like now I really figure it out
Is your sisters amp the twin verb?
Yeah
She use to play guitar at church which was like Christian rock / blues
But then she stopped playing guitar so I got it
Lmao my mum questions why I have 8 guitars when I can only play one at a time... So I asked why she has 30+ pairs of shoes when she can only wear one at a time
My fiance be like: its your money to waste
I need a new guitar it’s been 3 years since I got a new one
Lol dude...
FR = masterrace
Just put a wedge between bridge and body and restring per individual string if you lazy
Well and it has lock in tuning so it’s a little tricky
Its the same?
Also was my 2nd guitar so
Its a double locking system right?
I think so
If you do it per individual string and keep it in the same tuning its not much more work than a tune-o-matic style bridge
It was a waste tbh not even that but I took it to the guitar shop because it kept buzzing on the lead section and ye said he has no idea what it was cause the wiring was fine and stuff so
Fretbuzz?
Lesson learned try the guitar you pick out
Cause I just read the reviews and I was like well it says it’s good so I guess I’ll get it
Either action to low or neck isnt set up right. It can also be an issue with the nut
Just seems like a big chore rather just get like a pedal for whammy
Fretbuzz, if fretwiring itself is fine can only be a few things. Also the floating bridge needs to be level with the body
I haven’t really played it since like 2021
I got it at guitar center and it had issues already but they said they fixed them and they didn’t
Cause they took it for like a hour to “work on it” which they probably just took a break or something
Guitar center is the only place that sells modern guitars around here the other one is all vintage stuff which vintage stuff is cool but it’s not what I’m looking for
Seems like a bad set up job. Did you try yourself? Get a feeler gauge to measure neck relief and set the action right. 2.0-1.5 mm on low E string and 1.5-1.0 mm on high E for lowest action.
With the bridge levelled and guitar tuned
Neck relief about 0.28-0.3 mm from about the 7th fret with the first fret and last fret fretted
Ive dealt with plenty of badly set up guitars and those guidelines always tend to fix issues with any buzzing or bad playability
i stopped playing my 7 string ibby
used it for several years and almost everything i write was written with it but i'm past the point of using 7s
Probably just sell it back to guitar center or something
I think it was also a bad pick on my end too
I think it’s this one
Are you going to be adding more strings or taking one away?
Guys, can i find dimensions of Gibson Explorer's body somewhere?
Guys we need a bassist to our death metal/deathcore band. Feel free to text me
taking one away, already miss the range but for the style i'm writing in it's not that needed
Ya that's fair, you keeping your 7 around or selling/ sold it?
yeah i will keep it, it's priceless to me
New guitar and amp
im 13 yrs old intermediate guitar player. Any songs i should learn?
Depends on what u wanna play
I see Holcumb. I ask for Holcumb
Can I have Holcumb?
Tendinitis by Jason Richardson is pretty easy one
Didn't realize you were a jazz fan
djazz
idk i just like his music
Really? I think P00mbachoo would be easier
avenge sevenfold stuff, wage war stuff, we came as romans
Mmm no, I think polyrithmic pug would be even easier
Anyone know a good website to buy a used 7-string?
I still never tried to learn through the fire and flames
I know it’s a guitarist challenge but I’d rather try to learn a Lorna shore song because those are pretty tough
Reverb
You'll probably break your wrist tho
Ok thnx
I’ve already broken it before
Well I sprained it but close enough
Sprained wrist is so fucking painful
I fell off the top bunk of my friends bunk bed 10 years ago because as I was getting down the ladder fell
Damn
It was so bad cause I couldn’t play video games
That must have been rough😔
My guitar teacher last lesson told me to go learn into the hellfire -_-
helo
Hi
how are you doing
Good, how about yourself?
great
Good to hear
Is it normal practice to do guitar covers / vids where you record it in a daw then essentially play air guitar in the vid?
Yes.
As in mimicking the playthrough....yes it happens a lot. Its not nice, but its common practice.
I usually play over the recording and record my actual playthrough.
I make sure the guitars aren't too loud, but they are louder than in the release since it is a guitar playthrough.
That's what I did here.
The first song that was written for this project also gets the first playthrough!
Split it between the Rhythm guitar and the lead & Ambient guitar! Forgive the simplistic style, but video content is very new for me and so I have a lot to learn!
#metal #metalmusic #guitar #metalcore #melodicmetalcore #melodicmetal
Didn't want to have to do a whole new mix just for a vid, so just played along with the release version, recorded the playthrough in my daw and video, and mixed it so it sounded solid
So record then mime in the video
Yea! But I get what Judas was saying I like that way better, so in OBS I gotta mute the audio from my daw and have it only grab desktop sound and while that’s recording I gotta record in my daw simultaneously.. then in the video editor just sync it up.
I like that way better than miming the play though thanks @sharp raft !
I mean yeah that works, it's essentially what most people do with covers anyway. They play the track and record the audio in the DAW, while recording with their phone/camera. Then merge the two in Premiere/Resolve removing the camera audio when ready to render
If you do multiple playthroughs and move the camera for each you can also make it a lot more visually engaging than a single static cam. Plus if you mess up in a section you can just pan to the other take/angle
See I tried recording raw from the daw to obs while playing through and obs was lagging my guitar when it recorded so I momentarily thought I was playing out of time all my life haha
It was milliseconds off when I would watch it back was driving me nuts that’s what sent me down this hole
Yeah I'm omitting OBS entirely and talking of just doing DAW Playback & Recording combined with Camera footage
Okay gotcha!
You only use camera audio to help sync the two audios together
After that it's muted.
yes
what i used to do was prerecord the left guitar and live record right guitar on camera
Sweetwater and Reverb are pretty good
Sweetwater isn't an option for me cause I live in Europe but I'll check out reverb
I posted a vid in the feedback channel if anyone wants to give me some feedback! I recorded the guitar audio in a daw then synced up the audio in my editor, just a single angle for now to get a feel for it lol
should've told that right away, if you're in Germany/closeby i recommend ebay kleinanzeigen
if it's Poland by chance, then OLX is a good choice too
if you want a new and not used guitar then you can't go wrong with Thomann
anyone got good timing exercises or advice? I cant for the life of me play on tap with a metronome/on time. As well as I manage the songs I learn, I cant ever really get the timing quite right
Hate to say it, but just playing with a metronome
And slow the speed down
I'd go far as to say slow stuff down to around 50/60% of the original track speed and take your time playing it slowly and programming your fingers and building the association up with the timing. Then when you speed up your fingers will know the pattern and you can focus on speed then
I suggest playing at a slower speed and building up. The metronome is important to stay on beat. But if you can't play the tempo, then slowing down would be the next best option.
thats quite the piece
Metronome on a decently comfortable speed. Play through all subdivisions...so perhaps 4th notes first for a few measures, than 8th notes than 16th. Make sure you internalize those divisions in that comfortable speed. Than try triplets (16th triplets might be much depending on metronome speed and ability). Once you got this all down change it which each measure. For practicing seriously the best way to do it is inside your DAW while recording and read the transcients critically after you practiced
Its about internalizing the relation of the note groupings in relation to the click. Its basically muscle training.
If you can find other musicians to play with as well that will help
Personally that helped
not because its from a friend of mine
Bruh
Read it again
Are there any modern style t shaped body guitars with thin necks, Stainless Steel frets, and either a HSS/HS setup or even a hotrail bridge?
6 or 7 string is fine.
i am reading it again
and it’s not making too much more sense than the first time
No.
Because.
It's from.
A friend of mine.
i didn’t mean “how much” as in i wanted to buy it i meant it as in “how much did a guitar that fuckin slick cost”
i apologize for any confusion
I think MSRP would be around 4600$
Oh it is
does it djent
Ofc it does
I think I might be able to make my rig that I have sound good live
The only thing is that distortion pedal is a little fuzzy
Also yes I know bad cable management
Hears a little what it sounds like
That bottom fender looks like it survived ww2
I have no idea 😂
My uncle brings stuff to the practice room because he manages the place and if people leave stuff behind and don’t come back for it he keeps it
That's pretty cool
I think that could probably work for the first few gigs and then upgrade overtime
Not like we’re gonna be playing anything big so
I do wanna make a good impression but sometimes you gotta work with what you got
for some reason i just find out that buster use a kinda weird tuning
like it's drop E on the 4 low strings then the 2 highest ones are a dissonance to make those weird ambiance he does in HLB
the tuning is like E B E A G# A
Damn, that really is weird but as a fan of both dissonance and Drop E I love it. Might try that tbh
Been thinking about getting some HLB tabs anyway, these songs just seem way too fun to play
There is also a lot of whammy work in HLB lmao
but you can still find a few HLB tabs on songsterr
i'm using an app called perfect ear, look for it on google market or apple store
actually super slow speed might also be the reason for not being on time. Id say a good amount of between 110-130 bpm for beginners. Like for example counting 4ths for 70 bpm is hard since there's so much space between the hits it's almost impossible to just intuitively catch the rhythm. You can of course count in 70 bpm using 8ths or even 16ths but yeah, too slow isn't good
otherwise yes, it's the best advice out there
Oh yeah 60bpm is a decent speed for 8th notes and 16ths. It was more about being slow enough that you can correctly program your fingers on where they need to be, when they need to be there and not worry about the next beat catching you off guard/rushing it, which in turn probably contributes to being sloppy with it long term.
Gave it a quick look, that app is insane. Like wow, thanks a lot
Peavey are no stranger to controversy with FCC investigations and undercover boss gone wrong but recently it came to my attention that George Lynch of DOKKEN alleged in an interview that Peavey used prison labour to build some of their amps.

Has anybody here had their experience with muiltscale necks, in particular, with this kind of contour on the 1st fret? Is it just me who thinks this is a bit too extreme of a fanned fret? Because I can’t make a decent chord let alone play comfortably up there.
hey i need some serious advice, this has been going on everynow and then for like 3 years, because my fingers are small i tend to bend my wrist more than average guitar players to reach a good angle on lowers strings, and its making my wrist hurt ive been to a physician and they told me i have a ganglion cyst and that the solution is to wait untill the pain goes away
Is there anybody experiencing the same problem? Is there any tips to ease the pain? And to prevent it from happening again?
Seems like a normal contour for a multiscale neck tbh.
Just depends on the scale lengths...the more they deviate the more extreme the fanned fretting is which is logical.
How do you play? Sitting down? Standing up? How high do you put your guitar? When you sit down, do you play in a classical position?
To decrease tension in the wrist (besides good technique) all these things matter. And for preventing: just practice your stretches and stuff that tends to stress your hands more only for a couple of minutes a day (like 15 minutes) after a decent pre-stretching of your hands and fingers. Even with smaller fingers/hands its possible to still have decent stretches on the guitar, it just takes some care and practice.
I also have relatively smaller hands
it has always been an obstacle and insecurity for me lol
mainly sitting down classical position but when standing up i play with really high strap
thanks for the advice
Yeah, not much you can do besides taking care of a sensitive wrist and alleviate tension points.
A youtube guitar player that has close to perfect technique to get rid of any of that is Giuseppe Gillardi. Check how close he keeps his fingers to the fretboard. Once you practice that kind of finger control you will notice that it takes a way a lot of tension that seemed previously 'normal'.
thanks

I sometimes think about how it would be like making my own guitar... But I'm fairly sure it would not turn out this good xD
And I should probably learn to play on the one I have first.... so nvm xD
is there a close up of what the thumb position is in a pinch harmonic?
I watched a video on it before, when I was learning how to do it
I don’t remember who it was by, but it was very popular and it had pretty decent camera angles
Dammit I went climbing yesterday and now I can't play guitar cause my hands and arms are kinda exhausted
i can do pinch harmonics but i dont know if my technique is right lmao
if you can do them consistently on demand then the answer is yes
Yeah, I dont see how technically intricate a pinch harmonic can be. The toughest part is hitting the right position of the string in relation to the bridge to get the desired harmonic
id say keep trying
it took me a long time
but i just magically got it one day and it's been fine since then
it's not that hard, once you got it it shouldnt be a problem to just move your hand here and there
don't overthink it
i know it's frustrating but it's really not that complicated
Its not hard but its the hardest thing about a simple technique
Your reference points are relatively imprecise (pick up positions for me)
yeah, it's different for each guitar
my gretsch is pretty low output so it doesn't have much sustain on pinch harmonics
Yeah also im almost never a fan when they are played close to the bridge
Anyone find some of these vst’s sketchy? Like neural dsp with that separate iLok app, or how firewalls start yelling about splice? I hate to add bloatware on my pc and I fear that’s what a lot of these are
I like arturias suite it didn’t seem as bad
what 8 strings do people here use?
there's one ESP i really like the look of but there's also a pretty decent chance it might literally have just been discontinued
looking around the upper 1k lower 2k range
like 2500 max
which is why im not just ordering a skerve or aristides
idm if its multiscale or not, also ideally dont want fishman moderns
I use the Schecter Omen 8. I am thinking of selling it to get something nicer. It's still a great guitar, I'm not a fan of the pick-ups that come with it, and the scale length is a bit short for extended range nowadays.
Anyone else notice in the Darko teaser yesterday he was playing guitar upside down?? Is he left handed or is there a reason to this lol
I dont use 8 strings.
7 amd 6 strings good enough
he’s left handed and there’s not exactly an abundance of leftie 9-strings
you can see it in every darko video where he’s playing guitar
Yes he's left handed and maybe started with a right handed guitar played on lefty just like buster of HLB coming tomorrow on nik's stream
i personally would've said "like jimi hendrix"
Who is Jimi Hendrix?
That’s so dope!! I’m a lefty too so I totally understand haha I play upside down all the time currently rocking a re-strung righty
I feel so heard right now 🥲

I grew up on the Jimi!
To add onto this I might just be replacing my 8 string the the new RG9

NGD! I brought this baby home today!
Beauty!!
Woaaaah looks amazing dude!!
I love this thing 🖤🖤
I have it going through some G12’s fucking beautiful
Ok. .kO
I was thinking of picking up a good bass and guitar vst sampler thing. Ot seems like Eurobass 3 and Shreddage 3 Hydra are the go to?
I plan to mostly use them for songwriting, not so much the final product.
Tbh i use djinn bass and umansky bass because i'm more seeking the sound of a dingwall
should i buy a steinberger?
why or why not
I'm kinda baised cuz i have a Steinberg audio interface
steinberger guitar?
if so which one
Quick question for the more experienced guitarists because im like reaaally far in the beginning on my journey, does it get easier?
It can get easier. Whatever you practice starts becoming easier, I used to not be able to sweep pick for the life of me now I can pick up an 8 string and sweep on it, you can keep challenging yourself and pushing yourself to improve always keeping some level of difficulty.
I'm a big fan of music theory and too know how to apply that to the fret board makes things much easier.
spirit
honestly if u like them then id say get it steinberger makes great guitars
the trems r sick too
only issue is i have to import it
Depends...the techniques you are currently practicing get easier but eventually some newer ones can at times feel like you are starting guitar all over again. At the same time: it gets easier to get motivated imo because you know that you can do things you thought not possible previously
Also @lethal fractal is right...some music theory can make things a bit easier. For me knowing all the triads all over the fretboard significantly helped me
You can easily build chord voicings based on that without the need to use chord books and stuff, you know your arpeggios for improv and the intervallic relations all over the fretboard just by learning 1 (admittedly quite labor intensive) thing
Thank you both for the replies!! :D
This is my Tremonti PRS
Lovely guitar!
anyone got experience importing guitars
What you need to know?

Its not qny different than ordering something online except for the tax
Luckily no
thank you so much!
Eyes on anything special?
steinberger spirit
You from EU?
india
Ah yeah
courier is trash here
i wont even say a better word
i mean
I can always tell my relatives to bring it 💀
dont have the money rn sadly
What you'll find is some stuff will become easier - so you'll learn songs quicker as you spot patterns etc. Learning new techniques/patterns will always be tough. e.g. if you're used to playing in 4/4 playing 3/4 might be a challenge or quarter note triplets etc. Plus physically doing new techniques requires that back to basics approach, do it slow to train yourself, get it right, then increase speed.
Thank you :)
Quarter note triplets are awful.
does anyone know how to get a good disturbed tone?
Maybe with some wah wah wah? 🥁
Hello everyone! I was looking to buy a better amp and a 7 string guitar, but atm i can only choose one of them, and i'm not sure wich one, and i need some advice if someone can help me. I have a blackstar fly 3 mini and a stratocaster from encore. I was thinking to go for the 7 string because i want to learn songs from my favourite bands, but the amp would help me improve, hopefully :D, a little the sound. Which one would you guys choose?
so theres the smart answer and the short sighted answer
the smart answer is (if you really want to get new gear) go for the amp. Get super comfortable with the 6 string before moving to the 7 string. Going towards extended range too quickly can stunt your progress.
the short sighted answer (what I did) is get the seven string. It was really fun and I love playing my 7 strings, but I literally just bought a new 6 string because I wanted to go back to basics and get my fundamentals better without having to worry about the 7th string and the extra range
Whatever you do choose though, I suggest looking at the used route
I can't say that i'm even an intermediate player, but i think i'm close being one. I have my gear for 2 years now, and just this year i started learning more.
Thanks for advice!
No problem! Something else to think about is going the digital route and getting an interface + plugins instead of amps and pedals but i know that’s a personal preference thing
One more question is: what do you think of this amp: https://www.thomann.de/ro/harley_benton_mighty_15th_bundle_bundle.htm and this guitar: https://www.thomann.de/ro/harley_benton_r_457_wh_fanfret.htm
Bundle offer comprising Harley Benton Mighty-15TH Tube Head for Electric Guitar, 1 Channel, Power: 15 W with power reduction to 7 W, Class-A-circuit, Preamp tubes: 2x 12AX7, Power amp tubes: 2x EL84, Indicator tube: 1x 6E2, Controls: Gain, Bass,...
I’ve never tried any HB stuff, but from what i hear after some clean up they’re pretty good. Id ask someone who’s used their stuff though
that is a good looking guitar
is this website in romanian?
it is
oh it comes out to about $285 CAD
so about as much as i paid for my ibanez 7 string
can't say i've heard of the brand myself but you'll probably get as much mileage out of the guitar as i am mine. as for the amp, i dont know too much cause i pretty much went right to digital/plugins
yes, it is, maybe not the smartest move to give a link in a foreign language, my bad 😅
nah dont worry about it
what ibanez do you have?
gio 7
Are you just looking for something for noodling in the house? Than its fine, but if you looking for a studio/live workhorse Id opt out from harley benton
Quality control is sub par. But the stuff itself is alright for the price you pay
Not looking for playing at a studio or any gigs, just something to have fun with in my free time 🙂
Thanks for the opinion
Guys what are good string gages for playing at like drop E
I wanna get some new strings for my 7 string
I´m playing Drop E with .10, .13, .17, .30, .42, .54 and .74
Could probably go highter gauge with the high strings but I´m comfortable with that. Picked up an 8 string set, dropped the 7th and here I am.
But I´ve also been called a mad man for playing Drop E natively on a 26.5" scale length, so take my advice with a grain of salt, it might not be the most typical setup
My 7 string is in drop F# and the set is a 12-54 on the 1st 6 strings then a 74 on the F# on a 26.5" scale and found out its the right tension for me but for drop E i would use a different gauge cuz it has less tension than the F# and would also depend on the scale length as well
Hey, I just bought my first guitar and it's not making sound. It's plugged in properly and the amp is also plugged in properly. The cable and the amp don't seem to be the problem. Anybody have any suggestions what should i check?
What do y'all think of my new ibanez GRG121DX
Volume knob? Idk
Nope, tried that
Yeah. Wish I could help but not much I can do over discord
Thanks anyway. I'll probably just take it to a professional
If the guitar has active pickups, check the battery and also that the cable is the correct type (usually should only have 1 black ring on the plug/connector)
If the pickups are passive, I'm not sure what could be the cause besides faulty hardware
Yeah you might want to open it up and see if there are any broken connections. If there are it should just be a simple soldering job.
Thank you very much
Oh yeah bought a new guitar recently
(Ignore the gig bag that’s for the guitar next to it)
let the cat play a riff
ye
Tbh the cat's probably better than me
What is your guy’s favorite strings?
Ernie Ball slinkys obv
she Ernie on my Ball till i’m sl— actually nvm
Get a bass
Bruh
Send help. Bought a Throne Torcher off eBay, bypass sounds find, engaged 98% of my signal gets consumed by a long high pitched squeal. I paid $160 for this I hope it’s not fucked 😭
Update: issue resolved. I stuck it in the wrong hole (I’m a pedal virgin)
Anyone here owns a Quad Cortex? I want to use one live with a full band, running both the bass player and other guitar player through it. I want to switch sounds based on click track via midi. Is it possible to have a complete different sound for both guitar players? I read different things about this.
So for instance guitar player I (clean sound) + guitar player 2 (high gain)
Its supposed to be possible, but you are only tied to 8 'scenes' within each preset?
Cause the issue I have is that some songs use more than 8 'scene' changes and the preset changes have the latency issue.
i refuse to believe that syn can do these stretches consistently
the 7 9 12 is easy, and the 6 9 12 is like the farthest i can reach with like 80% accuracy but 3 5 9 is ridiculous
Use index on 5 and pinky on the 9. Especially considering this tab that little jump with the index is entirely doable in high speed.
I would even use my index on fret 9 of the D string and my pinky on the 12th of the G, and so forth.
omg thats so much easier i feel so dumb
Lol, its understandeable, considering the start of the phrase. No worries.
I was also playing a lot of floods a few months back so im in that mindset
something about that shape just makes brain go brrrrr
Yo guys, I have a question about tuning. So, I was thinking about buying a 7 string and using tunings from drop A to G, maybe F#. What string gauge would be good and do I need something else so the deep notes resonate good enough ? I'm not really aiming on producing in a higher meaning, just some doodling and maybe recording here and there.
my 7 string is in drop F# all the time and i use 12-54 on the highest 6 and a 74 for the low F#
and my 7 strings is 26.5" scale
I use 12-65 and it holds drop A fine and some drop F#
h o l c u m b
how do i know if i am ready for a 7 string guitar ?
What do you mean by ready? If you enjoy playing guitar and know the basics you can get used to a 7 quite easily.
like how do i know my progress
I dont think theres a specific point where youre 'ready'
Many guitarplayers who have 8 string guitars just chug
You mean in general? Good question. I think its hard for any guitar player to estimate how they progress because once your intermediate or advanced progress goes very unnoticed and gradual most of the time
Thats good. You know the names and how to play the same arpeggios over the entire neck?
only 1 shape though
I think your basic barre and open as well as pentatonic and major scale
If you know major scale its pretty easy
i know like 6 different scale shapes
Of the major scale?
yes
To be honest, Im not a big fan of scale shapes outside of the pentatonic, but its a good starting point for playing the scale over the entire neck
so i should be able to improvise somewhat?
What helped me progressing very fast is learning the intervals, mainly by learning triads and inversions and knowing what degree Im playing everytime. Its a bit boring but payoff is immense. Also for arpeggios and coming u with chords
I mean...you dont need to for a 7 string
hmm true
But I think knowing at least how to improvise over a 12 bar blues is part of the basics
Nice. Which one?
either schecter sgr c7
Or ibanez grg7221qa
siding towards the schecter though
never really tried their guitars
I havent tried them either
Ah, thats not good. Or at least...Im not a big fan of heavy guitars, especially for gigging.
if you get used to the weight
the other guitars will seem so light
i mean feature wise it was EPIC
ok its late
i go sleep
Schecters are my favorite. They play so nice
Sadly I don't own any
I have a 7 string Ibanez RG series that plays really nice though.
But whenever I get an 8 string I'm gonna get a schecter
I want the Rob Scallon signature
ooh
You'd probably need more than 1 QC for this if you're doing a lot of scene changes. The big problem with the QC is the way the lanes are divided. You might hit peak CPU usage on some lanes if you add in all the various blocks you need for all the changes.
Bass and guitar paths would need to be split out, so Guitar on lanes 1 and 2, Bass on lanes 3 and 4... and you only have 8 Scenes per preset. If you change presets there's a slight delay between the change so you might be able to change the preset between songs with an entirely different set of scenes for it. It just depends how you manage the CPU usage across the lanes.
Thanks @gritty garden! The 8 scenes per preset is my issue yeah (due to wanting to run 3 peoples through the unit). Would I be able to circumvent it by using another midi switch unit or by automation in the DAW or nah?
Sorry for the questions. Just getting a band together in my first 'solo' project and trying to get this streamlined
The QC as good as it is, also has it's limitations. I've had to do single guitar routing over 4 lanes because I maxed out the CPU on one lane.
Might be good to have one person use the QC and the other use AMP Sims
And that's just me messing about at home 🤣
Yeah thats an option or I might just use the fx return on the backline and let the rest of the band haul equipment
Well the QC has crazy capacities
But also these annoying limitations
Of course. TGI's entire rig is QC's. 3 main and 3 redunancy.
All midi programmed so all they have on stage is a tuning pedal
Yeah this is what I was trying to go for as well
Our drummer has in ears with a click and the backing tracks
Anyways thanks for the insight on the QC @gritty garden ! Im sure you know more about the unit than I. Im pretty new to it and havent used it besides very basic contexts
I've barely scratched the surface with it, but even with my limited playing about with it, I've exceeded the CPU % on a lane before, having to use up other lanes, which would be what the other instrument uses
I got two patches I use for when I get to play... but it was spend 1600 on a Rockerverb, or 1600 on something with more versitility and that I can take away with my when I see family and do silent playing etc.
Yeah and also the captures sre top notch
Ive only used 2 of myself but they are really really good. Hardly hear the difference from the real thing
Oh fuck
My band announced our first show
I’m excited and nervous it’s just gonna be a small gif so what I have should work for that
Damn, congrats. That´s huge!

Hell ye I’m nervous and excited
Good luck out there my dude
im on the guitar
So apparently the headliner is supplying equipment
Weird
So we just bring the instruments
the drums make me feel like i'm playing halo 2 and i can't explain it
Congratulations!!
Thanks 🤘
This is the show btw if anyone is in the area
3.5 hour drive for us but they asked us to play so
i don't even know where that would be lol
as a canadian i am aware of like six states and only like 2 geographically
im assuming ME is neither michigan nor minnesota?
Maine

my other guess would've been massechusetts
and i don't think there's any other m states
Which band are you in?
Awesome
Hell yeah
Ye that was my brother
Wait wich part when he was playing the rid or the hi hats
Hey congrats on your gig!
Usually thats how it goes. The venue and headlining act provide a basic backline (drums, cabinets, wedges, stage box), but bassguitar players can often bring their heads/combos and pedalboards.
the entire drum pattern is just really similar to the way that drum kits are used in songs for Bungie games
like, Halo and Destiny both
i don’t know how to explain it further than that sorry
Na na bro don't be sorry it's alright but do U have a way to contact Nik or is it like trying to contact the bloody American President in this joint
Hahahaha
It probably depends on what you are trying to contact him about.
...he is also another human roaming this earth, so for as much as a public figure he is, he still is a person, and most people don't just want everyone and their mothers trying to become friends with them.
Depending on what you are trying to contact him about, you either have a good chance of it or none at all, especially if you are looking to contact him about his car's extended warranty...
To add, Nik is a busy person and more often than not doesn't reply to myself when I reach out to him for clips/admin stuff. So it's nothing personal. Dude is a busy guy and gets hundreds of DMs a day on various platforms etc.
I wish to create a masterpiece of metal ,melodeath,
As a collab?
Yes and maybe working with him on an album
Well I'd recommend writing some songs and riffs, get a collection of ideas if they are good enough you might be able to get something to happen
Oh he is a human? My heart is broken
Oh good I was scared for a second

That was close
Sure was
it might be a lil bit shit but thats al i got for now
U reckon this alright for nik
And don't mean to hasl to much either
And trust me I was rushing coz I have to get ready to go out with my family so but I can do much better I just made that up
I would work on the premise it's unlikely he'll see it. He doesn't make a habit of checking out random tracks made for him on the internet, although there is the odd occasion where curiosity gets the better of him.
...wth
Would u be able to tell him I wish to work with him and ask Nik to listen to this one I made
Pls
And there's also more to it to but I haven't finalised it I'll do it tomorrow coz I live in Australia so different time to U guys
Not really, I stay out of potential business proposals etc because it's not my area to get involved in. Drop him a DM on insta, if he sees it and replies then winner, if not then he's clearly too busy
Ight sick thanks
I dont wanna come across as an a-hole, but I think it can be helpful to realise Nik is sort of an internet celebrity and (semi-)professional musician. Im sure many musicians would be eager to collab with him and Im sure he gets overwhelmed with these type of requests. To help with any dissapointment: Take a look in the 'Feedback Requests' channel and how many musicians in this discord channel are trying to perfect their craft, working on getting better at their instruments, mixing, compositional skills. Compare your work to theirs and ask yourself: are my expectations, based on my current work realistic?
And I write this, also because I feel requests like this make it harder for other musicians who actually put in the serious work to get noticed by music tastemakers/influencers.
It ight bro
And Ur not coming across as an a hole either I just really love his music and I just wanna create that again except with me but I see exactly where your coming from all g
But is there anyway now or in the future I'll be able to work with him
Nice...I love the RG series. I have a RG655 prestige myself. And an RGD 7 string model. Which one did you get?
I have an RG 7string I picked up a few months ago. Amazing guitar
Nice
Popping in a livestream on twitch is your best bet. That's his time to interact with the community
He may not acknowledge it as there's usually 700+ people in chat, but he will see it.
Also avoid the streams when he's focusing on other stuff like if we have a guest or he's writing music
This is my first electric and I think it's cool
Enjoy it.
I will thanks
Awesome
I want a Music Man Kaizen so bad
I've played them, they are absolutely amazing
Same here...I might crack open my savings vault at the end of this year.
And buy the indigo blue 7 string one.
I just love the idea of a functioning trem on a multi scale neck.
Normally it just doesnt work great.
Yeah that would be insane
Drop X is 👌
y´all suck, I play in Drop Omega
if your string tension is in the positive you aren´t low enough
bro's strings are just fuckin slinkies
No multiscale on an 8 string????
And honestly...very few guitars are worth that price
I didn’t buy it
I disagree
Ive yet to play a below 700 guitar that does not have some issues with the nut, bridge or bad fretwork
I guess each to their own. But those things bug me on an instrument which is still not cheap. Take quality control into account and a below 800 guitar is downright firewood
I got a 230 dollar Ibanez gio for my first electric and I still go back to it from time to time
Plays nicer than some 2000 guitars I've played
Yeah but I dont believe you when you say its a good guitar
Like?
I dont think you have to pay 2000 for a good guitar
But im not buying the idea that a 230 dollar indonesian plays, sounds or is constructed better than a 1500 japanese or 3000 american made guitar. Thats just cope
Any decent sounding pick up is worth that amount of money lol...
they are though (if you get a legitiamtely good one)
mine plays amazing, doesn't have fret issues, nothing too crazy overall
may have some kinda of slight electronics issue, but that happened since i've had it and it played amazing before and still does now
the neck on it is perfect too
I mean...Im sure it plays decemt, but Ive played many guitars in my life amd its hardly any competition. Esecially the bridge, nut amd fretwork
Cope bro
I thought my 2nd serious Indonesian made 600 dollar guitar was gods gift too
cope with the fact that cheap guitars can be good lol
They can be decent sure
But just enjoy what you enjoy
You like it, thats what matters
idfk why you categorize all sub 800 guitars as mid tho
they can be good
you just have to find the right one
Get lucky with quality control yes
Ibanez still not great but better than most granted
Especially in the 800 dollar range
But the difference between a prestige model and a standard model is not negligible
And people who claim otherwise are just coping
well if i was getting a guitar in the 800-1000 range id just get a prs
they have top tier qc
bro my dad has had so many prestiges and premiums with qc issues too
meh
prestiges are alr imo
maybe if there was an RGA prestige that i found that i really wanted i'd think about it
but the qc has been horrible on all the ones i've played, and every PRS i've played has been great
I have several ranging from £150 up to £3.5K and yeah you can get good guitars for under £800, but I think the QC jump from sub £800 to £1K and up is decent - not saying they don't happen, but there's less QC issues.
idk i've just seen a lot of qc issues in that $800-$1200 range
ibanez especially
which makes no sense to me
PRS has been the most consistent company of everything i've played though
My Fenders, ESP and Kiesel have less QC issues and feel better to play than my PRS, Gibson and Jackson - the Jackson having the most QC issues for an £800 guitar
those three make sense to me for having less QC issues imo
gibson and jackson def make sense for being there for most issues
Inconsistencies with the paint job, detailing around the bridge and truss rod cover could be a lot better,
yeah
i want a kiesel so bad
they're so dope but cost $4000000000000000000000000
Yep, a lot of people aren't interested in them since the whole Jeff drama. I got mine used so winner winner, no extra money to Jeff
Yeah, not hard to Google, just him not being pleasant to paying customers etc.
ah
Got a left handed guitar finally!
Schecter omen 7 I found used on market place for $300
Opposite for me. Ive never had issues with Japanese made guitars. QC was top notch. American made depending on brand ive had some glue remnants at the nut so nothing too bad
Indonesian/korean made LTD and Ibanez Standards ive had some poorly shaved down/sharp frets.
Also what I dont like in the mid price range is that they often dont give youany indication of how many pieces the body is gonna consist off. If its done right it doesnt matter, if not it just looks weird.
Just tracked today and somehow I tracked 4 guitar tracks in 2 hours while it took the bassist like 2 hours for 2 tracks
Guitarist be faster
I finished a song today too
Took me 4 hours for all the guitar
And about 30 minutes for bass 😂
We just gotta do vocal next week and re amp
Awesome
You all have never heard of drop P
Casual. I play in drop ï
Oh I am about to tune to drop I then after that drop 4#
oh yeah well i play in drop 死
That’s hard to beat
Well I play in drop _
my 4th and 3rd string ring when i palm mute my 7th and 6th, how do i fix that issue?
Try left hand muting everything else and maybe changing the angle of your right hand
I don’t play a 7 but it might work
Had a similar issue, especially on riffs with a lot of string skipping. It´s really a mix of angling your picking hand more towards the strings so you mute not just the ones you´re playing at the moment and also a matter of how you fret. Gotta find that sweetspot between not touching, muting and accidentally playing harmonics to get it cleanly
@acoustic cobalt @graceful socket thank you boys
yippee
anyone seen this before?
very nice
I hate not having enough money for a microphone 😭
Yea
Huh…learned something new today
this is expensive for that guitar
that's a weird looking guitar
What’s your guys go-to drum source for jamming and coming up with riffs?
I have splice but struggle to find relevant grooves. The SLK are great but I’m looking for others
Well i usually work the other way around i get a riff then i make the drums for it unless its a chug base riff where the kicks and the chugs match in rhythm
Yeah same
Question is it normal for all guitar cable ports to get lose or just me
yo
is there a bassist here who can do like fast stuff and complicated stuff, complicated time signatures and polyrhythms and shit
if so
let me know
and fuckin ping me so i see your message, k
cool
Imagine bending a string and this happen
Idk how i managed to break a fcking 74 gauge string while bending it with only 1 finger
and the funny thing is only the insde of the string broke, the wound around it didn't break for some reason
how old were they?
3 months i think
and most of the time i change them every like 5 months but mainly cuz it started to get muddy lmao
You're more of a man than me
I haven't changed mine in close to a year
Because I'm lazy lmaoooo
well i can have the same strings on my guitar for 9 months as well as for 3 just depends if one breaks or if i'm not lazy or if the guitar lost clarity
and for this one i got it in may so it can't be more than 3 months
how does your intonation just not die from having old strings?
Once my string starts changing texture/tarnishes and leaves residue on my fingers they are out... As well the intonation just goes to crap after a little bit of use.
I'm talking about 2 months of daily use when I say a little bit... My guitars aren't that unstable
Honestly look like something funny going on with the nut. Perhaps very slightly viling it and put on some graphite will prevent it from happening again
So, figured I'd come here to ask for some more experienced opinions on buying guitars online. Ive been checkin out these fernandes JG 55s, and liked em a lot, specifically the gun metal and purple ones
found a good deal for some on ebay, but either one or both are kinda sketchy
and
both shops have a lot of feedback, the one having suspicious reviews, and them having the same images just made me go oh the first one by the user jp2014tomin or whatever was a scam
but like I have no way of being sure both arent
and they're both in japan, so not exactly close to east coast US
just wanted to feel a little more sure if I were to pull the trigger on it
thanks for any advice yall can give
Lmao use a URL shortener
if i do that then how will i hide the Curse of Ra in my URLs
speaking of guitars tho i have found my own personal saving goal
same price as the Matt Heafy Origins 7 and the Axion Label
headless Ibanez, slanted frets, five-position pickup selector with an additional switch that can power tap pickups to give you a single coil sound that doesn't buzz, the only thing that makes me kind of not want it is the fact that the axion label comes with fishman modern fluence
i was really interested in that guitar but the 25.5 inch scale is kinda offputting
yeah, that’s the other thing i suppose
the aforementioned axion label has iirc a 27” scale with the fanned fretboard
so that plus the fishmans kinda has me split on which one i want more
but i don’t have $1200 to spend right now so i have plenty of time to worry about it
The Axion label is not 'fanned fretted' its a multiscale. Fanned fret guitars just have fanned frets for playing comfort.
If you mean the RGD71ALMS which I think you do (fishman fluence pickups and all)
Yeah, I dont really understand why they make 7 string guitars in that scale...even though the Kaizen 7 string multiscale has a 25.7 low be string scale length which seems to be fine....
i could've sworn it said fanned frets when i read it

maybe i'm just illiterate
but yes i do mean the one with the name that rolls right off the tongue
Lol, like any Ibanez guitar?

That RGD71 is a good one though.
me and my ibanez abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz69
yeah, the RDG71 and the QX527 are the ones i'm seriously considering
same price, so the saving goal is the same
i will say the RGD has one glowing review
Yeah, if you tune down Id go for the RDG71. The 25.5 scale of the QX527 will probably play like spaghetti when going lower than drop A or sound very muddy if you put on very heavy cables.
It doesnt say anything about the intonation problems that will you get from heavy downtuning on a small scale length 7 string.
Sure...its always easy to downtune on a headless guitar, because the tuners are brilliantly placed most of the time and a mono tune bridge definitely helps with the ringing out of the strings seperately from each other, but that doesnt say anything about the muddy tone + intonation issues you will get with downtuning.
I mean...you can do it, but you will need a very heavy low B string and the thicker that string gets the more muddy the tone will get.
It explains it a little bit why its not a great idea to have a 25.5 inch scale length for downtuning a 7 string.
i mean my current 7 is the ibanez gio 7, which i think also has a 25" scale at best
I think its 26.5 no?
Its personal of course, but objectively in drop G but drop F for sure, you need quite thick strings on a 25.5 inch scale length.
And thicker strings = more muddier the tone will get.
Another Ibanez 7 string which is in that price range.
With a scale length that also makes more sense than the 25.5
oh this one's neat
but the RGD71 with the fishmans would be my first pick tbh
the only reason i want the headless one is cause it's a headless one for the same price and it sounded really cool in the preview videos
and look man im a sucker for good lookin guitars and the headless one looks damn good
It is a goodlooking guitar.
Also has a cool switching system, but if you really wanna tune to drop G and you care about a decently intonated instrument my advice would be to stay away from 25.5 scale length guitars.

understandable
might have to go for the RGD with fishmans then
still looks cool, and it’ll sound exceptional, and it’s the same price, so there’s that
It plays well too.
Yeah sorry about the urls 😂
i have no doubt that both would play well, half the reason i’m picking an Ibanez over something like the Matt Heafy Origins is cause i prefer the neck wood on Ibanez guitars as well as the body shape
Yeah I have no doubt, but I havent really played on the QX527, so could only share my experience of the RGD which I did play for a bit.
ah fair enough. like i said i have plenty of time to deliberate, and the QX527 is newish so maybe by the time i can afford it they’ll have a newer model with features like multi scale or a finish that doesn’t make people immediately think of human skin
i mean seriously two other discords i sent the thing two were like “yooo human skin guitar”
Yeah I do feel they should make it multi scale but it will up the price a bit. I dont mind the finish but I do prefer painted finishes even though theyre often cheaper
honestly i like the finish but it could definitely be cooler
if they used like a lighter wood for more of an ashy grey colouring it would look insane imo
I'm looking at buying a baritone 7 string for Drop G.. 27" scale.. but the internet is all over the place when it comes to string recommendations. any thoughts on gauges here? my head hurts
I think you’ll be better off with these Ernie Ball strings if your going to be that low.
tbh i'm in drop F# so 1 semi tone lower on a 26.5" scale and i use 12-54 plus a 74 on the low F# but personaly i'd use like 11-52 plus a 70 for that tuning or mayabe a 68 due to the scale length
60-64 would be fine for G on a 27" baritone
what is schecters goal here
To try an be more relevant than the other brands is my guess if their doing something ridiculous as that
That looks awesome ngl
