damn that's a good deal
maybe you could make a piece and wood glue it in? I think it would be easier to just get a new neck tbh
Yea, he'll take $600 too
Currently I'm thinking sand it down, just a little, and then seal it clear. It'll probably still some color but hopefully less shitty looking and more "worn in" looking lol
You may as well just buy a new neck
Then you can get something that's better quality
Bolt on necks are a piece of piss to replace
It's why bands that do the smash guitar thing use those for that
they will be available somewhere
Please point me in the right direction then, I havent found anything and have been looking for couple days lol
Just bought 2 3mm Jazz IIIs and they feel amazing! A little small but i can get used to it
Cant pinch harmonic on them for some reason, but I also cant pinch harmonic on the prodigies either, only my JP Jazz IIIs
idk man you gotta try the Dunlop 3mm ones. They’re heavenly
too thick for me ngl
They’re my first pick thicker than 1.5
anything more than 1.5 just feels slow for me
I have the drop part
this very pedal is right next to me
I have the whammy without the drop and it's a very... fun pedal

still can't play Bleed but I can definitely understand what's actually going on now :0
what do you think of the JEMJRSP
anyone know of a decent stand like this for 10 guitars
so basically that exact one
Also Hercules do one
yeah i just saw that one
It's the one I have
how is it
It's a stand, it's fine. Does the job and easy to pack up if needed
I have 9 on it currently
did you just buy 2 of these and the expansion kit?
They supply 5 spacers and grips, you need to buy extras if you want more than 5
I just bought the 5/10 rack and a couple of expansion kits.
looks a bit like mine, but bigger
gotcha, thanks
if i wanted opinions on which neuraldsp to get would this be the place
Ye
depends on what genre you're using it for tbh
overall I really like the Mesa Boogie and Tim Henson ones
I use Parallax for bass stuff
There's a 14 day free trial on all of the plug-ins, test them all out and find out which ones you like
yeah i’ve been using the free trials it’s just that I like so many of them but can only afford one atm
i’m leaning mostly towards the Abasi suite, it’s got the clean and two distortion amps and all of them are really good
the Tim Henson one has better cleans and the NTS suite has better chugs but Abasi does it all
Plini is good for both too
nah Henson’s isn’t great for like the really heavy chugging stuff
nolly is also super versatile
basically i need something that can do what both NTS and Henson does
so Abasi is my pick atm unless y’all can recommend something better
i’d try nolly, i think it’s my fav archetype plugin.. it has rlly nice cleans, bt can also do rlly heavy stuff..
i really wanna try out Petrucci
i got the trial a while ago
and never used it
Abasi is the only one i got a good 9 string tone without it sounding all muddy
tim henson’s has the nicest ui i’ve seen w/ the archetype plugins tho i will say
i do really love thé UI for Henson
oh right, i’m on a seven string so that’s also factoring into my decision
need it to not sound like actual sludge when i play a note
yeah Abasi works the best for lower tuned stuff imo

Gojira is good too for that
i made this in the kiesel guitar builder before and its so beautiful
maybe one day ill spoil myself
one day
oh hey that was my first one, sort of
i rented that and a spider amp and that's how i started
That's awesome
@wind mauve IMO if you could only buy one, Gojira and Rabea are the best "do it all" plugins.
Heheh

i'll check them out
once the abasi trial ends imma pick up the nolly suite cause it does look super neat now that i've been introduced to it
and then i'll try rabea
Nice! And thank you for the compliment
np
you seen any of my things yet?
@nimble jungle take a look if you don’t mind
it was made in japan
And it was appearently illegally shipped over here
like its not at all supossed to be here
i just need to make everyone aware of this tab
lemme see this
that bpm is oddly high
i despise this
?????????????
WHAT THE FUCK IS A NEGATIVE NOTE
oh yeah one second fellas lemme get my pet daddy long legs on the fuckin fretboard????
Ahh yes the 26th fret
maybe it's a tab for one of those funky lookin harp guitar
alternatively you fret 24 and 2 to get a combined 26
and for 29 you fret 24 and 5
the negative notes still concern me
do i play 3 in reverse to get -3 or do i need the non-Euclidean strings everyone is raving about in order to reach through the temporal void and get the the negative side of the universe, thus allowing me to fret -3
also this
That's not a song fwiw
That's some guy being a doofus
Djent is more rhythmic
You watch too much Bernth
I know I just find it funny lol
that was my first guitar, i remember jamming bmth and trivium on it back in the day
And it was surprisingly cheap
yep
its so cheap for such a decent instrument
For real
My Bare Knuckle comes today
Gunna throw it in this
An epi LP i traded that schecter for, plus $200. So basically a net cost of.... free guitar 😁
Also ordered a matching knob and replacement pick guard.
do you guys suggest getting guitar pro?
musescore is super buggy for me, and i dont like tuxguitar's ui
Like Ultimate Guitar Tabs?
Nah, the application
If you're gonna use it I don't see why not. I think you might be able to get a trial for it. If not I don't think it's that expensive anyway
the things i would do for this guitar but with a 27 inch scale rather than 25.5 is insane
Me with most guitars tbh^
Slowly returning the free Less Paul to form
New strat, cause LP ergo. Bare knuckle in the bridge now, and a pick guard that is white, not ivory like the store said, and didn't include the bracket. Coming along though 😅
New knob and pickguard (with bracket lol) should be here tomorrow. Then just need the pro bucket for the neck and ill see what I can get for it
the one guitar i desperately want is either the custom one i made on the kiesel builder or something very very similar
alternatively a Kaizen but that's even more out of my budget somehow
somehow cheaper than a Kaizen, six or seven string
but obviously i want the seven
yeah same I made this

yes
that was what inspired me to check it out
i do really want a headless guitar and i love the Osiris body
i used to have like
a headless explorer 7 string in white
in teh builder
it was nice but i accidentally deleted it at some point
my guitar teacher's guitar, he built it himself, and it has the tuning pegs at the bottom for a whammy/headless
but it's not actually headless
and he can pull out the bottom tuners to instantly drop tune the string
so honestly? i think i may just have to forge my own guitar with the blood of my enemies
i actually only have two
my Les Paul i started with and my Ibanez Gio 7
debating whether I get a new amp or if i just stick to ASIOs and VSTs
cause like i can practice headphones on any sound i need and record it easy as hell but my actual amp is a spider v30 and it’s… not great
Oo. Yea. Id try to scoop up a used katana or something.
I started with a spyder too and the katana was a gamechanger

Any recommendations for a first 8-string guitar?
Hey guys, just joined the patreon, got the Starseeker GP files, anyone had issues with that one? Noticing that after measure 63 the solo is right but the rhythm is just either missing or wrong.
Also family photo for tax
sexy
i want a 7 bad
oh shit can i ask
how are mayones'?
i've played one aquila and loved it but im looking at saving up for a regius or duvell 7 second hand
Plays like a dream! I switched to them from Kiesel after having like maybe 6 or 7. Had Jeff screw up a build and did the bare minimum to correct after wasting a ton of time. Sold all my Kiesel's and started playing Mayones. The red one I had specced a couple years ago and it's hands down the best 6 string I've ever played and the 7 I just got is also the best 7 i've played. Highly recommend the Regius.
oh shit nice!
I wish I had known you were looking, I just sold a 2019 NAMM build that had a mastergrade maple burl top and was supernova green
ive seen kiesel but i really dislike jeff as a person, he seems like a stuckup asshole
think it went for 4500
ah yeah thats def above my budget haha, im more looking in the high 1k low 2k range
there's a few on reverb rn but saving up to get it for around my birthday
Jeff is def obnoxious and runs a lot of business off due to his attitude.
And his fans just eat it up and crap on anyone who's remotely critical of his talent.
He doesn't run business off per se, like business to business he's very generous. He does hefty endorsements etc
But yes, massive dick when it comes to customer service
And his guitars aren't worth the money
They have this cheapness to the vibe and feel
umm he does though
I'm proof of that.
And on top of that, there's entire subreddit threads dedicated to people saying they won't work with him due to his attitude.
I meant business to business wise
Not business to customer wise
Theres two different things right. So a business relationship which was what I thought you meant at first, is something like an endorsed artist, or a company that he buys components from
Especially with endorsed artists he treats them really well
That's why everyone and their mum has a kiesel endorsement
Customer service wise, different thing when it comes to a business, and with that he's awful
Just a weird thing to comment on because we know how he works with endorsements but his interactions is pretty much the same as other companies. Mark Holcomb worked with PRS and got the same level of attention Kiesel gives to their artists. That wouldn't mean generous it would mean standard. And no one really knows of the companies he buys components from but that would be the same standard reaction other companies have, so not generous, just, neutral.
I mean, first, I misread what you first put, but second mark is also in a big band. Kiesel give that treatment to artists that wouldn't even be looked at by other brands
And gives free guitars, which in 2023 is not as common as it used to be, most of the time it's just artist rates rather than freebies
That's relative to company. You're also kinda moving the goalposts in framing endorsements now to "endorsements to people other companies wouldn't consider" which is impossible to determine. Veil of Maya for instance is a pretty substantial band and right now roughly the same monthly listeners Periphery has, it isn't that Jeff is just "nice", Jeff knows he can get his money's worth with his artists otherwise he wouldn't endorse them, it's not "nice" it's "profitable".
Mark got his prototypes for free from PRS, I'm fairly certain Browne got all his Mayones for free from them, it's a lot more standard than you think. The ones that might not are maybe Gibson and Fender but even then I'm sure Slash didn't pay for his custom shop pieces, etc.
Anyways, that's still not Jeff is great to businesses or endorsements, Jeff is just the same as most other guitar companies and is in no way above and beyond. Which we've kinda circled around wasn't my issue, it was how he treats customers which runs off CUSTOMER business regularly, and people devote entire threads to discussing why they'd never work with him. Which, even with the QC is as spotty as it is, is just not a good look.
also yeah thats generally the vibe i got from him, he blocked me on instagram cause i made a joke in the kiesel comments section LMAO
but yeah i've heard mostly good about mayones
one of my friends calls them overpriced which i can kinda see why cause of how much they run for new, and ive seen a single video on a duvell complaining about the tuning stability
but besides that i've heard nothing but good
this is the one that caught my eye mainly, but since I won't be able to afford the guitar until december it'll probably be gone by then
so starting then im gonna keep more of an eye out on reverb on what mayo 7's are out there
Probably used Ibanez RG8 to see if you like it? Good solid guitar you can get without too much investmentm
i was also thinking about 8s but decided that a 7 is enough for me
if i really need to play an 8 string song ill just pitch shift
since the only bands i listen to who use all 8 strings are periphery and polyphia
with stuff like prompts and meshuggah it's just the bottom string lmao
Schecter omen 8 maybe as well
Yea i was in the same boat most of the 7 and 8 string songs i like i can just play on my baritone Jazzy. 30 in length so down to Drop E+ is no prob
they're def high priced, can't hide that, my red one was like 5400, the Camphor burl 7 string was like 4250 but I bought used, and the Purple Supernova I got coming in soon will be 7400-ish
daaaaang
yeah thats why im holding out for a second hand one, idm if its not as pretty
this is the guitar i skip ibanez though, 100%
the ibanez 7 strings ive seen just do nothing for me
The only one I ever liked was the JEM 7 string, they made a white one that I loved
any recommendations to get used stuff in canada
Reverb, Facebook marketplace, and I think there's a website that's called kijiji that's like Craigslist for Canada
yeah ik about kijiji
probably don't want facebook marketplace if i can avoid it
and i'll check out reverb
Have you guys seen this beauty?
Thankyou & much love tofor his confidence and trust to go all out on the absolute monster of a build 🥰

Carries a negative stigma but I've sold everything on there and its all been fine. Up to you though. May not hurt to look
i really like a few of them but they're all pretty hard to find
just the specs on them turn me off too
like i love the look of j.customs but i dont want a floating 7 yet
Just no
Got hurt early in the year and it halted my playing. Any advice? Back then i didnt have to think about picking up my bass or guitar but now i have no want to do it. But i also love playing so any advice?
Just make a conscious effort to pick it up even if for only 5 minutes. Run through stuff you know and enjoy, and hopefully it rekindles that spark
does someone know which tuning "Anhedonia" by silent planet has ? (pls ping me XD)
Drop G
well this cover on YT says drop G
yea just saw it and it sounds pretty accurate but thanks
I always check songsterr for that stuff
Songsterr or ultimate guitar
yea but ahnhedonia is not there also songsterrr is sometimes preeetty inacurate
Oooh I see, sorry then
and on ultimate guitar you have to pay for it i guess
nah nah no problem at all :)
AFAIK you can see the tabs for free, but maybe you're right
Dunno if chordify gives you the tuning either
yea but not all the tabs u know ? most of the tabs u have to get the pro edition or somthin idk XD
Oh fuck haha
but still thanks :)
Np dude, hope you find what you're looking for
Pedal-philes, anyone reckognize that pedal at the very top?
not the one on top of the SLO
https://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/pantera-pre-hibernation-tab-s41652t1 another cursed tab
guitar (dead :() is crazy
hello guys, what should I do to improve sweep picking?
I practice it for about 3 days and I can't play faster that 80 bpm
maybe I need some exercise for my fingers?
oh my god mayonnaise is an instrument
Anyone here own a 100w EVH 5150 III?
I wrote a riff and I need some ideas for a chorus and a bridge
Can I send it to someone?
Just hMu if it’s cool
if you ask me, just post it here. That´s kind of what this channel is for too
okau
This is the riff I wrote. Just need ideas for a chorus and a bridge. It's sorta kinda slipknoty so thats what I'm goin for
what made pinch harmonics click for you guys?
well, you see, you need to use proper technique to beat them out of your guitar.
well for me it was a video explaining how to do many type of harmonics on the guitar (natural/artificial/pinched etc...) and practiced on time of dying by three days grace (there is only 1 pinch in it but whatever needed to know how to do it even if it's only 1 note) and kept practicing my right hand to hit the string with my thumb just after picking and got a consistent result in about 3 or 5 days or at most a week i think
I didn’t get em till earlier this week lol. But it’s essentially hitting the string a bit harder with both the pick and your thumb/index finger. You have to experiment with different striking angles tho
I used Duality to practice it
Sad no one responded tho😵💫
I'm not too surprised tbh.
I'd pitch in but I a) cant make it out well enough, dont know the tuning and what not to help and b) have a severe lack of confidence in my playing and especially writing
Playing the main riff of Pantera - Cemetery gates until my fingers bleed lol
You have to punch the strings
oooh, that explains why I could barely hear the harmonics when I punch the body
🎸
Fair enough lol
But it was in drop B
I've been practicing sweep picking for a week. What can you say about it?
keep it up!

thanks
Anyone got experience with playing 7 string stuff on an 8? I´ve wanted to get a second 7 for a while now but because it´s still pretty hard to find decent lefty 7s I cant really find anything other than the one I already own and before I get doubles I thought about instead getting an 8. Got one that would suffice for my standards, I actually quite like the idea of getting an 8, but I just dont really need it that much compared to another 7.
Now the idea is to just get the 8 and play the 7 string stuff on it like usual, just playing everything a string down basically (or differently, depends on the song and tuning). Anyone got experiences to share regarding this?
I’ve tried stuff like it but 6 string stuff on a 7. It works fine for standard tunings but not for drop tunings because of the g string being a different interval
Hi! Can I ask guitar for recommendations here?
thats hysterical
returning? I have three LPS one of then is 20k and in a storage unit cause i’m afraid i might break it lol
ibanez, Les Pauls, i have a tele i play on and a $1,600 fender jag i play, but i would suggest ibanez mostly
For what level? Entry, Intermediate??
The general age of this Discord is quite low so recommending $1600 guitars is probably off limits to most
yeah you right i don’t really mean reccomending that guitar for stuff anyways
it really just depends on what i’m playing
I meant if here is the appropriate place for that 😅
I have a mexican SSS strat, it feels really great, but I want a separate guitar for heavier music. I wanted to try some BFMV, Killswitch Engage and A7F covers and it seems humbuckers and not tuning my guitar every yime would be cool.
I really dig a form and a color of Nick’s JP6, but not the price 🥲 And I kinda don’t like glossy leopard-like designs.
I also like rhe form of Tim Hanson’s white Ibanez, but not sure if this form is comfortable.
About active/passive and neck shape. I’m not sure. I think I will try everything you will recommend when I get to a store, but for now it’s not an option for me.
i got a cigar box from my uncle(im under 18 so i cant buy them) to make a new cigar box guitar
are there any cbg fans that know if 152mm is long enough for the body
?
(6 inches long)
or do i need a longer cigar box
Does anyone here have the JR cutlass?
the 3,800 dollar guitar?
The 930 dollar guitar
no, i have a fender jag thats 1,600$
So i take it that’s likely a no
probably
ight
who has sold and shipped a guitar?
cuz i wanna know how much it is to ship
aint no way Florida to Texas is gonna cost $100
the fuck is it $100 for? are they fighting off the Florida Men to make it here?
mb
it's all my fault
Could drive a guitar that far for less, what the hell
ikr and its a nice guitar
I mean if it's a decent guitar, if I had no responsibilities for a couple days, I would actually do that, drive it there instead... would make sure any company wouldn't decide to use the box as a target for kicking or something
Typically it’s also for insurance
Id assume
id never ship a guitar (over like $500) without insurance.
well its priced at 725
so it makes sense
but like
bro
a guy is shipping an 8 string headless legator for 50, and its 1000
shipped from Wyoming
Doubt it. If you're bothered by sound quality etc it'll sound small and boxy and miss out of detail
any other recommendation
if you want a mini amp those uhhh
What's your budget?
not available in india
ah
Your best bang for buck if you have a PC already is going to be an amp sim like a Neural DSP one or something.
audio interfaces are fairly cheap nowadays
a refurbished focusrite is probably well within that budget
Fair enough I'm just saying for the tone quality you can get an interface and amp sim for less than a decent practice amp.
lemme check for one
If you're not bothered by the audio too much and just want something for your electric guitar then try a Orange Mini out or something and see if you like the sound.
why does this country have so much tax
Yeah that's the downside to India and being a musician
I remember someone looking up a digitech WHAMMY DT and it was like almost $1000
ye
But yeah, the import tax they're passing on to customers is insane
and the cheap ones have bloatware
With those prices etc you'll just have to decide what's best. If all you can get is the Orange Crush Mini then fair enough. I suppose it's better than nothing.
It won't be perfect
I dread to think how much my collection of shit would cost in India.
you would be filthy rich
i mean half of the products arent even available here
orange crush mini has an option for external cab
i guess thats cool
Hey, I just got a new effects box, and I'm trying to get good tones and rig setups, but it's not going well... could somebody possibly help me out here?
is chelsea smile supposed to be hard or do i just suck
just go slow
it feels weird to play it slower ive already started learning it at full speed
will playing it fast make me better
https://open.spotify.com/track/5mWNiGLS2S3rYqETHT9Pb1?si=Jlt1yS9yRweKUfgszkOYkA anyone got an idea of what tuning this is in.
I got you bb
genuinely tho, going slowly is your best bet. it was tough for me too, but lookup tabs. A lot of the majority is just played on the low E string
i know ive been looking at tab and playing to a 100 bpm metronome this whole time
What part of the song are you trying to get through right now?
A great way to learn that part would be just practicing gallop picking. Ola Englund has a great vid about it
the 000 isnt that hard on its own its just tying it all together
i can play any one bar from that part no problem
mmmm I see. keep practicing bro you’ll get it down in no time
ive technically been working on this for over a month but i havent been practicing nearly enough cuz i got a job and im trying to finish up school
im back on it now tho
“this” being the 0s
just the 0s
i tend to do things that are too hard
after this im planning to buy a pitch shifter and learn talking heads
Such a good song
i started with linkin park and i wanna do djent so that one made sense as “linkin park but with more djent”
if you search yeet
you get all kinds of cursed tabs
NOT ANOTHER ONE
THE MUDVAYNE ONE ALREADY WAS BAD ENOUGH
it looks like random time signature changes but it's actually the guitarist not having a metronome
NO NO NO NO NO WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT
sounds trve kvlt to me
ANOTHER
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I just got myself a Whammy DT and holy shit, this thing is insane. One issue tho: I need stuff to practice timing and what not with it because as of now my brain just goes into ooga booga mode whenever I want to use it on specific notes.
Anyone got good practice routines or songs that make you get used to it?
would i b able to install active emg pickups in my guitar tht came stock w/ passive pickups? i’m not sure if the electronics would b compatible or if any of the knobs would lose their functionality..
i don’t rlly know of too many songs tht use whammy pedals, bt ik lots of ptv songs have sections w/ whammy pedal dive bombs + squeals..
Not without modifying your guitars body no. You'd need to route somewhere for the 9v battery to go as well as redo the pickup wiring
like with the last one, i will look at this tab till i see something cursed
ok that's kinda fucked up already but i'll keep going
yeah im done
anyone knows the tuning of Glass Hands by Crooked Royals ? (pls ping me)
Does anyone know where to put the trem block on a sterling modern tremolo bridge?
what the actual fuck
icarus lives --> icarus dies

i got amp
which

i really want a seven string
my ibanez gio was about $600 iirc
idk if there's gonna be cheaper than that, and if there is idk what the quality might be
grg7221?
not sure what that is
thats an ibanez model name
i just knew it was a seven string ibanez from the gio line
i didn't know the got dang number
The schecter C-7 deluxe is like 399 iirc. Pretty decent quality i enjoy mine. 26.5 inch too
i have a guitar with some scratches in the finish like this, anyone know how best to deal with them?
duct tape
how do people go about learning by ear when you literally cannot hear the guitar
depends what’s overpowering it in the mix
If it’s vocals I’ll often use a vocal removed
Otherwise i just try really hard

i think thats for an 8 string since the thing only supports upto 7
can you send the link here
So like dumb question but is there a pedal which increases the pitch of the guitar?
whammy dt
Is that like a full octave?
Was hoping there would be some magical device which is just the opposite of the digitech drop
i think you can
Been playing on 0.12 strings for so long that I can't get used to the thinner ones
pitch shifter
its less overpowering its just very quiet lmao

its mainly the chords in the left ear in the intro i cant get
i don't know about that
there's songs like
Neo Seoul
that have 9 string tunings
I may consider this then (:
there's a version that's just the pitch shifter up
without the drop
its cheaper
if you just want one
at least I think there is
yeah there is
its like $100 cheaper
forget
everything I just said
that's just whammy not pitch shift 👍
bruhhh
archetype tom morello has a pitch shifty thingy
i wonder how he'd feel to learn i used his neuraldsp to try and make a brand of sacrifice song
how do u keep your pick from sliding or moving when doing upstrokes?
how are you holding it
like, when i strum stuff my pick will tend to slip from my fingers; or slide almost sideways..
hard to explain
your grip looks fine
you might just like not be holding it tight enough?
i've never had this issue
6 or 7
9
im thinking of getting a new geetar sometime soon and im torn between 6 and 7 string (no floating bridge this time they make me cry)
cus it makes tuning to drop c/c# and D standard a little easier
7 makes things go chuchuchu much easier tho
the band im in don't do a lot of chugs tho cus 1. i don't have access to chugs 2. i am the only guitarist for now 3. we don't have a specific genre
it's more just a group of friends making sounds but we call it a band
i like the sound of 7s but 6s feel more familiar and for my level of guitar it feels like it would be better for progression maybe
but the chugs and djents can only truly be obtained from 7+ strings

nah
the heaviest bands are all 6 strings no exceptions
pupil slicer, emperor, vektor, the ocean, phinehas, norma jean, imperial circus dead decadence, a ghost of flare
vektor singlehandedly obliterate the notion of "downtuning = heavy"
because not only do they play in a 6 string tuning that's been around for decades, they play in F Standard
they literally tune UP
I mean hlb is technically played on a 6
im sure there are bands that are considered the heaviest that use 7 strings
carcosa

look i like my japanese metal too but c'mon
175hz the band
unbelievable amounts of mud on every carcosa song I've ever heard lmao
turn your ears on i guess
and yeah there's def heavy 7 string bands but it's not necessary
let's be real, most 7 string bands are not frontierer or car bomb
not even that
I believe their late stuff is c# but cowboys? all e standard
i would go as far as to say that there is only one frontierer or car bomb
domination is still like maybe the filthiest breakdown ever
they tuned like between C# and D standard
yeah no cowboys was definitely not E
it literally is tho
they tuned like 30-40 cents down but that really doesn't make a huge difference
I don't even think they did that on domination or cfh tho
I know they did on cemetery gates but I'm pretty sure it might just be that and maybe another track or two
cowboys in hell is 1/4 step down
yeah makes sense tbf
but even then that's like barely tuning down which is crazy
oh, anaal nathrakh too
they're like the epitome of heavy
Honestly E or Eb standard is where it's at.
(or their respective drop tunings)
I have wanted a 7-string for a while just to fuck around with it, but it's never been a must-have.
after getting i seven string i haven't touched my six string in a year
noob question,
wat does the parenthesis mean in the tabs? plus he's not fretting it in the 5th fret
parenthesis on notes is a harmonic
idk how it works, so the harmonics in the tabs is kinda useless?
i also saw some tabs with harmonics with the fret going to 18/19
one sec
open - 3 - (3)
and yes that was the only angle i could record at
i apologize
hello there

what are you guys doing
agreed
im big on the whole post hardcore thing that happened in the 2000s and holy fuck
so many good E/Drop D/Eb/Drop C# bands
ling tosite sigure, 9mm parabellum bullet, the fall of troy, hail the sun, dance gavin dance, eidola, tricot, la dispute, envy
sokoninaru too
Opeth and Cattle Decapitation are two of my favorite bands, and they use E and Eb standard, respectively.
E standard is very cool
why tune down to ridiculous tunings
megadeth has E standard aswell
I mean, it sounds good tho
was practicing a bit in the studio while my guitar teacher was taking a bio break between lessons, when he came back he told me "i was wondering who was teaching bass today but then i remembered it was just your seven string"
I have a custom E-II esp al in Drop C cause as the great one would say "DROP C FOR LIFE" which i run through a mesa boogie dual rectifier and for a speaker cab i use a Kustom KG412 120 W 4X12 speaker cab

ok real talk why does an actual tab have a negative number
wtf
tab makers are on some weird stuff rn

i mentioned the meme tabs to my guitar teacher
and even he looked shocked to hear the negative number thing
and bro is like a demigod of music specifically 80's shredding so like if he don't know then it ain't a thing
playing ST songs on a seven-string... hmmmm
ok granite is literally entirely on the 7th string so that's doable
thats 2, maybe 3 fingers you need
its not even that hard
listen putting my finger across the bottom 3 makes it touch the top one
it is if u suck lol
practice more then
no shit
i thought maybe there was a trick besides "just dont touch it" thanks genius
what song is that anyways
chelsea smile
someone told me it was singular string shit so i started it so i could learn how to go fast
Just ignore the 0's, I'm questioning that tab anyway because the B string should be muted if you're playing the high e string 0s
Also I don't know what tab you're using but all the other tabs I'm seeing are 0's for bar 18 and an entirely different rhythm
gonna keep practicing this of course, and i'm in a slightly different tuning, but i'm pretty happy so far
what song is that again
it's in the file name
anyways i got to play the 7 string epiphone matt heafy guitar at a music shop for a bit
and it is the sexiest tone i've ever heard on a guitar
buying that as soon as i can
Uh so I bought my first electric guitar and it's a 7 string

Feels so weird after 6 string acoustic
yeah it probably would
i have pretty much the same model just in a different colour, so my advice is to have the volume and tone knobs all the way on and the pickup switch set to all the way down (away from the neck)
songsterr
use your amp to set volume and adjust the tone as necessary
Really, you must be using a different tab then
Is what I figured too, been doing that

I use volume nob to just flip "on and off" the guitar
yeah basically
also some lower-end amps will muddy the fuck outta your seventh string especially at lower tunings just fyi
I thought about it so I got something that is probably a bit overkill for me
whatchu get
oooooh
yeah i have a slightly less advanced model myself
i recommend reaper as it's free trial works like the winrar free trial, and neuraldsp offers two week trials on all their products
Thats where I am rn, trying to figure out what to use for practice/record etc
👍 Will give it a try
Yeah, I like it so far, gonna stick with the Reaper for now

lol that nodding fits perfectly with LosT by BMTH
i use reaper and stl tones
grab your self some good irs and your set
and for interface i use a m-audio + since it was like 40$ at a pawn shop and works great
I got a beat up bc rich warlock for $100 that I’m gonna mod the crap out of any suggestions on what i should do
install a floyd rose floating bridge and regret it
Not too beat up bridge is fucked and paint chipped but somewhat fine other then that
can you send a pic at all
Yea not this second but I will
aight
Yea but im thinking of putting a new bridge in
And a locking nut
But im not sure what to do to it yet completely
best pickup i've ever used was the fishman heafy one
but they're fairly expensive
and i don't think you can buy em seperately
like you're gettin two pickups if you buy them
Yea i was looking at James Hetfield emgs
haven't heard those in action myself, but the name sounds alright
for strings i'll always recommend some ernie balls
DiMarzio Fusion Edge 😍

my new guitar
rate 1/10
0/10
yems
cool
Drop G on a 25.5 scale guitar? Nah or not a big issue?
wouldnt recommend it
Yeah, I thought so. Too bad...was eyeballing the Ibanez QX527PB
cant learn how to do a pinch harmonic, any help?
Just found this acoustic got it for $60 needs work but it plays good
Looks good too
Anyone here using Abasi Concepts guitars?
No sry
They all seem to be sold out
Wanted to check some pricing but dont know whats going on there
So guys what do you think, is this guitar worth buying? It's a J & D 905 HSS, and it sells for $150
Specs?
Here
Dont know man. Cheap trem systems will generally give you remorse to be honest
The reviews are pretty good for it
Even if you are starting out its generally better to spend a bit more and increase your joy
Im not reapky familiair with J and D so maybe my judgement is off
You basically need to pick the string and then lightly touch it (more of a tap) with your thumb in one motion. What has helped me learn it (still crap at it, tbh) is pick the string hard and position the thumb in a way that the string will hit it
It's a weird technique to do, learn and explain. But when you hit it, boy does it feel cool
Anyone got tips for doing sweep picking for the first time? Noticing myself not being able to do it even at 60bpm or below, kinda feel like I’m in a rut and I wanna get this skill Dow packed but everytime I try I just feel like it ain’t gonna happen
Up the bpm a tiny bit so its easier to roll the pick in a smooth motion across the strings. Start with less strings, take one shape/arpeggio and just commit to it until your right hand syncs up.
Theres no easy/quick route for these kind of things to be honest
think im gonna avoid getting an 8 string for a bit honestly
Unless you're competent with a 6/7 then there's no point attempting an 8
Just got a Jackson JS11 for a slick deal
Anyone know any good bass tones?
I got v man from Slipknot in archetype gojira but idk it’s not punchy enough for me
For hardcore
can anyone help me which amp to buy?
Drop g or drop f which is better
no such thing as one tuning being better over another
it all depends on what you want
tune to one, play a rif, tune to another, play the same riff
the one that sounds better is the one you want

the lower one lmao
anyone knows how to learn enter sandman? i'm struggling
whichever one you like
F is my threshold
i don't like writing modern metal in anything above it
and for "higher" tunings i just use E standard and drop A# (which is already quite low)
but i also don't really like writing modern metal
or just metal in general
G is goated for pisscore though
otherwise it doesn't matter what tuning you use, use whatever you like more
it only becomes principal when you work with vocalists id say, need to make sure that the key is in their range
Seven strimg guitor
hot
if your partner has these in their room - break up and get a restraining order
i was actually looking at this model the other day 💀
Ah nice yeah it was the first guitar i bought myself and i like it
RGA body style>>>>>
nice
i want a prs in the future
the Mark Holcumb model is awesome
6 string version at least
7 string is a little too thick for me
Ima get a kiesel custom guitar sometime like this
Yeah i made it in their custom builder
But this is when i have lits of money lol
Theres a 10 string at my local guitar shop, should i cop
Its 5k but goddammit she beautiful
I have a 9 string that I thought would be cool, it's too much and there's not a ton to learn with it
Unless you're interested in making your own music
Fucking Gaffy 🤣
The thall in me wants to

Is ur pfp a custom jay mask?
YO WTF THATS TERRIFYING
hey, I’m really new to guitar (only been playing 2-3 months) and I think it’s time to change my strings. I was wondering what type of strings I should use (ex. what factors should effect which ones i get?) like, I’m assuming someone who plays a lot of metal wouldn’t be using the same strings as someone who plays country. (also, i apologize if i sent this in the wrong channel, I didn’t know where else to put it lol)
You sent it in the correct one just wanted to say that idk shit about strings lol

alright so, rookie mistake, but i dont have an audio interface.. yet
I directly connect my guitar to my computer with a small quater inch jack (female) to 3.5mm jack (male)
I'm saving up for an audio interface, probably the Audient iD4 MKII
question: should i expect a better tone? latency?
apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this
Unless you're planning on doing a whole new set up, find the string gauge it came with and replace it with the same. If you change the gauge of the string you'll put more tension on the neck and it will require adjustment to sit right.
The issue you have if you get thicker strings is the nut will probably need modifying to ensure the thicker strings sit in the slots correctly, and the truss rod for the neck will need to be adjusted to compensate for the new tension. Your saddles might need tweaking to as the notes might be sharp or flat at the 12 fret (intonation).
Basically if you're new to guitar and have no idea what all of the above means, just replace with the same strings that it shipped with.
thank you lol ive been hearing different things from everyone ive talked to but since i dont understand any of it im just gonna find the original gauges 💀
as keyan houshmand said about squier owners: "you're either a beginner or completely insufferable and i hate you"
playing on strings is overrated
i only play with people's feelings
Real
Repainted my Ibanez GIO GRG7. The blue was chipping bad
Ooooo
It wasn’t without errors tho😂😅
ernie ball strings

that's your starting point, from there it's all gut & preference
Folks at the store where I bought my guitar less than a week ago were recommending these strings too, are they really that good?
yes, i've been using ernie ball since i got my first guitar
in fact that guitar still has ernie balls on it
once i replace the strings on my 7 im also going for ernie's balls
By recommending I meant I already got them and these are on my guitar lol

Got regular slinky 7 string pack
yeah
I keep misreading it as regular stinky
the slinkiness you want depends on whether you're more ernie or more ball
but after a while and some test runs you can usually tell what kinda slinky you need
These
I wanna try to get power slinky 7 string later
or the super slinky for drop a/b standard
these are my six string ones
can also recommend the Horizon Devices 9s for drop G# to B standard
mines in drop a with very dead strings
drop g might be better with 10s honestly
so my strings aren't in great condition either
my guitar centre offers a free full tune-up so long as i pay for strings/batteries etc
so i'm gonna go do that tomorrow
i have a juggernaut ht7 which sounds incredible in drop g# ans drop a so i tend to just keep it around there
fair, not too difficult to do by yourself though
fair
Yo bro i just got your tik tok about this on my for you
Lmao it blew up out of nowhere
Yeah i dropped you a follow tho
Appreciate it🤝🏻
they just do their work
cost alright, solid, last just as long as the strings should
ernie ball are mcdonald's but strings
i for the same ones just the other day, but i've put them on my 6 string lmao
ditched the 10 and 46, added a low 74
T H I C C
you’ll never need another string
Actually based?!
I love those strings fr
I have them on my Dean V for D standard to drop A#
Mainly for drop C tho
why are you putting question marks
i’m always based
this shouldn’t be a surprise
I don’t know who u are tho TwT
they put these bad boys on everything in GC! such a blast to play!
group chat? glaucus cauc-- er... general construction?
all you need to know is im always based
Guitar Center 💀
anyways the string talk convinced me to finally restring my 7
and my dumbass broke the highest string trying to tune it to e standard

which like i don't need it of course, only 0's, but i don't want to be some 6 stringed pleb
I’ve lost count how many times I snapped my high e on my 7 lmfao
i'm just gonna leave it at D cause i tune to drop G anyways
why break another string when i don't tune that high
Bass actually adds a lot to a song
Added bass to my song and without it the breakdown feels like a lil bitch
But when I added bass
About to get new pickups
bassed
was thinking of new pickups
but in the wise words of my guitar teacher, "sure you could probably put new pickups in, but is it gonna cost more than your actual guitar"
I’m getting new ones because they have a better sound and has a better dirty tone on them too
fair
do any of you guys know a good metal staarter guitar?
Besides that one, not exactly sure what you mean by metal guitar, but you might want to check out the pinned messages in #🎸-old-musician-talk , mainly: #🎸-old-musician-talk message
thanks man! ill have to try it once i settle on a decent low tuning for the 8 string
When you're double tracking pinch harmonics, how can you get them to line up near perfectly?
they're always just slightly off for me
something like an ibanez is pretty sweet i think
my ibanez gio 7 was about $300
it’s pretty sick i daresay but if you’re just starting out don’t get a 7
Are the headless ones Strandberg? Also what model is that white Ibanez?
Yes headless is strandbergs and the white is a RG8-WH
For me its an Abasi Guitar
Same with the strandergs and the kiesel
My fav stranberg us 4,5k
Lol
This is used right?
Nah
Ah damn I thought they’re in the 2.5k plus ballpark
Yeah the range is between 1600-3000
But Boden Standards go from 1600
Little more, but in that range.
Cool
But if you wanna go for the Boden Prog range it already goes more towards your price.
Lol why would I wanna pay more man I’m not rich
Actually trying to get a used PRS halcomb now
Noice
Strongly agree. I just hope I can land a higher paying job soon so I wouldn’t have to think of price so much lol
Yeah understandeable man. But its already good that you have a specific range in mind so you are not gonna spend that money on gear you dont really need. It will save you money in the end.
Ive been on both ends. Buying a lot of cheaper crap I dont use and saving for a big buy. The latter I never regretted in my life.
I get that. Investing in quality shit is always a good idea and it makes you wanna play more too!
Btw anyone here tried the tom morello neural dsp plugin?
Not yet. Not sure I will. I dont need anything else after purchasing the Petrucci one lol
Its probably quite good nonetheless.
I’ve just seen the Rabea video it sounds pretty sick. Gotta give the trial a spin
I have the Gojira one. It’s crazy how good these guys can make these archetypes now
Yeah the Gojira is my third favourite! First Archetype Petrucci, second Plini than Gojira.
But from the ones I tried most of them were quite good. Im just a Plini fanboy.
Haha plini is awesome
I for sure agree.
Saw him live a few years ago. Very chill dude
Yeah I saw him this year with Jakub Zytecki. Both great performances.
I love the abasi plug-in
I've gotten great tones for my 9 string with it
Most of the other plug-ins make it sound muddy
I liked the cleans of the Archetype Abasi a lot, but wasnt too big on the dirty tones
The fortin nameless bangs
i don't know what other chat to put this in but I'm new to guitar and i don't know where to start could anyone tell me a good place to begin?
I started learning guitar by focusing on learning scale shapes and chords, as well as the proper technique for how to hold the pick. I imagine it would be the same for quite a few people but that's just how i got started

woooooooooooooo they finally unveiled it
bout time
Could you answer a question about periphery it might be stupid?
go ahead
Do they still have a bassist it looks like there are 3 guitars now?
So they've always had three guitarists
but Nolly, the bassist left in uh
after 2016 i think
Oh so they had 3 guitars and and bass?
and i don't think there is one touring with them
yeah they did from P2, through Jugg, and i think for some of P3
he still helps the band though
he's like an unofficial member
he's the producer and whatnot
Thank you I was wondering what there members were
yeah so now it's
Misha, Jake, and Mark: Guitar
Matt: Drums
Spencer: Vocals
and then Nolly helps record
I hope I get to see them live at some point
i want to see them live so bad but ofc their only two shows planned rn are so far away from me
if they can play a headlining show like 2 hours away from me i hopefully could go
I think they had a show like a year ago so might be a minute
This is good advice @lofty marten
Dont know much about them, except that its a Japanese brand.
Classy guitar for a classy musician
i heard from some people a month or so ago that they were coming out with a tele model, so to see it finally revealed is pretty cool
Yeah...I mean...the man has deserved a signature for a while now so its about time.
The restock pace - or better yet the lack thereof - of Abasi Concepts is giving me anxiety.
Guys I have a confession to make: I normally play guitar but I bought a bass yesterday and I like it
