You get gold from doing most missions. Find some Strangers on the map and get started, and you'll earn gold from those. You also get free gold via treasure maps on level up that you can get in the mail, so keep an eye out for those!

Just do dailies every day, they usually have simple ones. Complete awards and reset them for free gold. Do bounties to get gold easy and fast if you have spare to get the license, and stranger missions are good too

The volcanics are pretty good if you're a good shot with them, it ultimately depends on the kind of player you are and where you sit in balance of rate of fire and damage per shot
killed plenty of players with them with 2 or 3 shots to the chest
but if you're on console i wouldn't use them
since it's all about headshots on controller
