oh boi, 2 weeks since I've had a full trader wagon because fuckstar refuses to let me join trader routes the few times I'm not working at that time. Not only do they not let me join, they let the invite stay there for a split second when I pull up player menu just so I can see the fake invite before it goes. idk why it hasn't been fixed, clearly the support team are liars when they claimed it was fixed before. Bounty boards are glitched too, they were either grayed out or nothing came up, whichever lobby I jumped too

@pseudo kettle if you are going the Paint it Black route I’ll leave you with this:

Don’t rely on the tagging aspect of it. Aim at them, get their head lined up and then activate dead eye and shoot immediately. It grants perfect accuracy, and you don’t have to wait for a mark to kill them. It’s the most efficient way of using the ability outside of free aim.

As for the build, along with PiB use:

Strange Medicine, Eye For An Eye and Iron Lung for PvE content.

Never Without One, Iron Lung and Fool Me Once for PvP. Or Never Without One, Peak Condition and Winning Streak.

Be sure to use health tonics in PvP so you can survive fights if the enemy is able to survive a headshot via Never Without One or is using Slow and Steady.

I don’t suggest using Cold Blooded. It requires you to kill someone and only heals 10% of your health over 3 seconds. It’s too small. Strange Medicine is much more effective. SM restores 20% on a headshot (which you should be going for) and around 5% on body shots (can be more, depends on the amount of damage dealt) which will definitely heal you for more than 10% by the time you kill an enemy.

Unblinking Eye is also something I’d not suggest seeing how you are on console and at likely using lock on aiming. You don’t need the extra duration to stay in PiB. You should be using it like how I wrote above- turning it on just before shooting. Eye For An Eye restores 20% of your dead eye, which is much more than you consume by using that tactic.

Only the Dead Eye Ability called Paint it Black will do marking, and it is always automatic as you pass the reticle over the target.

Use a sniper, or a Springfield rifle with PiB (so it doesn’t do any extra marks and damage the quality) when hunting deer, Pronghorn, etc.

The sheer damage from snipers will kill them outright, and being able to only place one mark at a time with the Springfield, preferably on the head, won’t have you accidentally marking them multiple times and ruining them

@ruby laurel a good mix of speed, acceleration and bravery to a certain extent. I can recommend breeds such as Breton, Criollo and Turkoman (gender doesn't matter when it comes to stats)

Ah okay, well do be sure to start there so you can learn the basics of the game and how to do things.

#

As for online, basically save up as much Gold as you can. It’s the special currency you can earn by doing certain activities and by logging in each day and doing things called Dailies- a selection of random little tasks. Saving up gold is important since the main content of Red Dead Online are the Frontier Roles which can only be unlocked by Gold.

#

There is a $5 starter pack which gives you 25 gold, which is enough for one of the primary Roles- Bounty Hunter, Trader or Collector as they are 15 each.

#

Uh, there’s ability cards which are like special skills and upgrades. Like regaining health by dealing damage, taking reduced damage, dealing extra damage in a variety of ways, improving how long your dead eye ability lasts. And speaking of dead eye, there are 5 different types you can use, but Online will pretty much show you all this stuff when you start out and anything I could really say you are going to forget about by the time you get to a point where it matters honestly

#

Basically just:
-Grind and hoard gold for the Frontier Roles.
-Don’t get too fussed about horse stats in Online, speed and acceleration make very insignificant changes per bar.
-First big purchases should be weapons in my opinion, focus on getting the Bolt Action Rifle (solid longarm and necessary for hunting properly) and the Pump Action shotgun (most reliable shotgun) to round out your loadout.

I suppose just keep those in mind when you start out

The moonshiner is far easier to level than bounty hunter. 2 tips, do missions to get the mash cheaper, always complete rival moonshine camp missions and it'll will level pretty quick

major tip, if youre playing with mouse and keyboard on PC, make sure free aim is enabled (switch to free aim) under controller settings. EVEN if there is no controller plugged in. You will get 30 more XP per kill

strange thing i noticed with horses. so you ride and suddenly horse trips over something that deffo should have been jumped over. or hits a tree that should have been easily avoided. and then if you try to replicate that straight away, it doesn't work. horse doesn't trip or hit a tree. its like game sees you haven't hit a tree for a while, its time to drive a player in to a tree. and horse sometimes just turns without you in to a tree or a fence or whatever. once that happened, horse suddenly becomes smart and avoids shit. infuriating. although funny first..2 times..

You can get up to 0.48 gold from the strangers, the longer it takes you to do them.

Pump Action is the most accurate, which makes it the most reliable for one shot kills.
Repeating is just slightly less accurate, but shoots ever so slightly faster and holds 1 more shot.
Double Barrel has the highest damage, but poor accuracy. This makes it better for when you use Paint it Black, though all shotguns are made better with Paint it Black.
Semi-Auto has atrocious accuracy, and should only be used when using Paint it Black or Slippery Bastard.

Yeah the wrap improves durability by 11%.
The stock options are cosmetic, not sure why they included them in components rather than style

Best revolver/pistol?

Personally I think the Navy and LeMat are the best pistols.
Navy specifically for PvP and LeMat for PvE.

Navy has the best accuracy of the revolvers, great damage and a great rate of fire. This makes it easy to get headshots or just mow players down via body shots.
LeMat has a higher ammo capacity and shotgun altfire. Which is great since PvE is about dealing with multiple enemies at a time, and the shotgun alt fire can be useful.

The Semi-Auto and Mauser pistols are interchangeable.

Simply put the Mauser is better when you are not using Gunslingers Choice and the Semi-Auto is better when you do use Gunslingers Choice.

The Mauser holds more ammo, which is the primary reason it is better than the Semi when not using Gunslingers Choice.

The Semi is better than the Mauser when using Gunslingers Choice because it is 1 of 2 sidearms to receive a smaller bloom size after firing, which makes it extremely accurate for rapid fire
