Pump is more reliable and more effective in most situations. It has the tightest bloom sizes and quickest bloom shrink speeds making it more effective at confirming one shot kills. Lowers your chances at needing multiple shots to kill an enemy because of the pellet spread, and with it having 5 shots you can get more kills and not need to constantly reload.

@marsh dirge What’s your build? Knowing that would help with choosing one. Though you should use Strange Medicine over Cold Blooded. CB heals 10% of your health over 3 seconds when you kill something, whereas Strange Medicine heals you for 5% of your health when you deal damage, and 20% of your health when you get a headshot kill. It’s just more efficient than CB even though it halved your natural healing rate.

paint it black, iron lung, horseman, and something else that gives me more dmg based on stam

all rank 1 until i decide

been grinding out trader hard, so just hitting bandit camps, stranger events, hunting, npc kills, etc etc

A good all-round PvE Paint it Black Build uses some sustainable cards like Eye For An Eye, that restores 20% of your Dead Eye on a headshot and Strange Medicine, that restores 20% of your health on a headshot. Both pair very nicely with Paint it Blacks bloom removal. So long as you can line up headshots you’ll be able to top off your health and dead eye. Then the last card be really be anything you want, I’d personally go with something that reduces how much damage you take, like Iron Lung. Just a good flat damage reduction card.

All of those cards are versatile and don’t rely on niche things like being on a horse, and are all effective for what they do. There’s a lot of cards that are just simply too niche or don’t offer a strong enough boost to be worth the XP grind and cash investment.

It’s smaller, so it is a bit more agile

Yeah basically. Just go somewhere like the Heartlands or Big Valley where it’s just wide open land where you can roll around with the cart and place your camp. Find a pack of deer/pronghorn, store em and head back to your camp. But if you are doing it a little more passively yeah, just call the wagon if you happened to of come across some animals, store em, then bring back your horse and carry on

ya those areas prob best for wagon for sure - so overall youd say hell ya its worth being able to toss 5 animals on it?

Definitely. It just makes the process more convenient. Plus, you can store extra animals in it for when you don’t need to add any more materials. Stock up that way.

I use a Breton and American Standardbred.

Last I checked I was around 180 on my xbox account, would be closer to 250 if I didn’t have to start over.

Don’t sweat the horse stats all too much, just get one you like the look of. Testing has shown that the difference between a horse with minimal speed/acceleration and one with maxed stats is rather small, meaning you’ll save seconds off your travel times from town to town. Horse bravery is anecdotal. And health and stamina aren’t all that important either since stamina can be somewhat ignored by using a high level pair of stirrups and/or the Nocagdoches saddle. And as far as health goes... if someone wants to kill your horse, they’re going too, they’re just too big a target.

Hell, I used a Palomino Morgan for weeks even after having high tier horses, just throw a good saddle/stirrups on and they’re fine.
