You can have multiple roles. If you can only afford one, I would suggest Bounty Hunter for both. Bounty hunter pays little in terms of RDO$, but does give gold (which will allow you to get the other roles faster) and you'll both get role xp if you run bounties as a posse.

bounties are like free roam missions, you can do them as much as you want to but sometimes need to hop between boards

there’s three bounty posters on a board that refresh frequently, and you can do a legendary bounty that resets 48 minutes after completing/quitting the legendary

so it’s a good grinding role to make gold

trader takes more time, about 4 hours to get a full batch of 100 goods (you start with a wagon that only holds 25), but you get 625 money for long distance trade and you don’t have to be focused on it 100% of the time just bring in animal carcasses to keep the resources high and every 25 goods you need to do a mission

It's certainly harder to spot them. Even with the hunter vision, they won't glow like they're supposed to so they just blend in.
The spawning has been pretty typical in my experience.

so.. the other day i had a guy "afk" outside my camp, and a grizzly would spawn every couple min and attack him.. the first couple times i killed the bear, trying to save the guy.. but it kept happening, so i let the bear attack and eat this guys face for like 1 full minute..
