If you can get within about 20 meters of deer you can use "paint it black" to mark several with the bolt action without the scope. Just gotta be quick enough and careful enough to just mark thier heads, bring the reticule down from above thier heads to mark them.

To pull out and try again just release the right mouse button.

When stalking to get close only move while thier heads are down eating.

the most important thing to do in rdo starts even during character creation

when you put points into lifestyle i’d leave stamina and deadeye at 5/10 and make health to 7/10 since that’s a bit more difficult to increase

in the beginning i’d do every story mission but instead of using your horse, run there to get your stamina to 10/10 since it’s the easiest thing to level up

when you open your map check the bottom left for the key bins or buttons depending if you’re on consoles/PC and press the one that says index

go over to locations and find the butcher label and that’s a bit easier
