My red Arab can take fairly sharp turn while still going really quick, the less you slow down the less you need to accelerate again, the different horses seem to change thier gait at different times as well, ie, a foxtrotter has a fast trot so will change to canter later in the speed curve.
Basically it's "horses for courses".

I find reload time is a bit of a thing in itself, so not sure if the navies will be better than the schofields. In reality the real navies you need to either reload the chambers in the gun one by one or change to a loaded cylinder. Grease in the projectile end of the cylinders was common practice to prevent "chain fire", I guess the time is ok for a cylinder change, about right.

@solid moon I'd say when it's comes to being skittish, the Arabian is OK not that bad depending.. , but if that trait is the bigger concern for you choosing a horse. , Perhaps you want a bigger, taller horse. So that when YOU get afraid of what's freakin the horse out, then you can easily escape over large barriers or forest/swamp what ever it is

For me.. There's for sure a difference with the taller horses traversing areas.. But also some horses are beefier as well for knocking into trees.. So take the Breton short legs it's constantly tripping over things my others jump, but even though not as tall its tankier than the other tall racier ones, so the Breton fairs well when catching a few trees..

I think we're forgetting if course this youtube quoting but Rockstar like a bunch of other stuff in the game (gun familiarity, weight loss and gain) added horse familiarity with different terrors and probably other things too... So I kind of believe that it is a feature.. Also that females and males are somewhat different. so I personally feel like you can train to some degree the fears out by pushing the calm button when nears scary things and by forcing the horse to do this often.. It seems like the horses I bought and neglected to ride often are all kind of skittish the ones I've put the time into and had to run I to these things don't react as badly/are more under my control (all bonded level 4,so that's not it) .
