Dual sawed offs for pistols if you got slippery,
Lancaster, bolt action, or double barrel (double barrel is good for hard countering players who use dual sawed offs like you, since you can hang on the fringe of their effective distance and outrange them without losing killing power, and bolt action with pib to whup snipers),
Bow (More accurate than it seems, fire arrows and explosive arrows are sure kills, a great comeback weapon overall)
Oh, and just a tip; if it's convenient, wound the steeds of enemy posses so they have to use horse reviver and can't swarm you easily
Horses form the backbone of a posse. Without them they can only hunt you at a snail's pace, giving you breathing room. Be sure to shoo your own horse whenever you go on foot so it can be called back more easily and won't be susceptible to enemy fire all the time.

@steady mesa wounding their horse only works on the poor, assuming they only have one horse. Some posse tried it on me and I killed my own horse and called in my second horse. They tried it again and I called in my third. By the time they tried the same trick again, my 1st horse was already available to summon.

Though tbh, the horse thing is mainly for those who fight with slippery or defensive like me, where it's all about getting them on their feet and in shotgun range
Even if you can aimdodge one guy, the difficulty increases exponentially with multiple good players freeaiming you, so you need to abuse every advantage to make it as close to 1v1 as possible
Most posses suck too much to be a threat though

Also, if you don’t already you should do dailies. At least as many as possible. They give decent xp for them and most times they’re stooopid easy
If you have troubles with them you can go to the red dead reddit and someone will usually post a quick way to complete dailies
