@humble mason the special outfits are just made up of matching parts from the regular catalogue, so if you see an item on one of those outfits that you like, you can buy that on it's own. Just take a mental note of what it looks like and you should be able to find it. I managed to unlock a jacket with a special outfit that would have otherwise not been available until I was much higher level - that's the only use for special outfits imo, unlock all the stuff before you rank up and can get the single item.
