Honor can't be earned in passive mode, but it can be lost and a dishonorable action disables the ability to enable passive mode for an hour. Starting any kind of mission turns off passive mode. If you attack another player in passive mode you'll do no damage, you'll turn off passive mode and you will be unable to attack for 30 seconds. And maybe make it impossible to gain weight. Only maintain what you have.

So, basically, the only thing you can do is hunt, fish, and shop unmolested.
