There are also more hair styles when you go to the barber in game

So you might want to get it best you can in there and then head on over to the barber when you can @real shell

You get like three meat for every deer you skin anf each piece of meat costs like 70c, plus the pelts, etc. So I think hunting is more effective

A perfect buck carcass is 10 bucks, with a 4 dollar pelt, 1 dollar antler, and 2 or 3 dollars worth of meat

So thats like 18 bucks for one kill

Planning a hunting route to a butcher is a very effective way to make money in my experience.
