Honestly, it was one of the first games to make me stop playing, sit down, and enjoy the tranquility of the worlds' environments
I'd wouldn't say the story is bad. I'd say the story isn't finished. There's so much lore left to dish out and explore, they don't have the energy, time, people to achieve the grand dream they wanted Destiny to be.
Put it this way... I haven't played the game in a couple years, it's only been out for 4, but the memories and emotions I get thinking about it far overwhelms any feelings I've had for a game, except maybe the original Ratchet and Clanks.

well in many simple ways they couldve made the story itself more accessible, look at mass effect. they dont sit you down and explain every little thing. they have the codex so you can look into stuff. destiny 1 had the grimoire cards but youd have to look at them on a website, thats terrible design

i can understand your attechment to it but like really the story is overly simple and i think thats partly due to activision wanting the game to be easier for younger players to understand, notice they really pushed for a T rating. the light vs dark, the cheesy dialouge, its all too much

doesnt help that many of the base features they had planned to add in for launch were shipped as paid dlc, then then even the true expansions werent that great
