When I listen to a band I dissect them into a recipe of what I've listened to for 20+ years and immediately determine if I like em or not. It's just the way I've always been.

I'm sure they're gaining attention right now because metal is pretty dead right now unless you listen to the hipster doom-metal and overly pretentious depressive black-metal. Otherwise all the genres are extremely saturated and it's like everyone sounds like each other. My preference is and always will be to first find a sound I like and then study the roots. The pioneers will blow it out of the water and you'll notice how watered down whatever you thought was cool really is. There's some stuff out there that will forever stand the test of time.

There are some songs that I think are just stupid because they either have no real story behind it, or the vocals or instruments sound like trash.
