PC Hardware Issue – Wi-Fi Missing and Most USB Ports Not Working (MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC)
Hello, I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue with my PC and would appreciate some help.
Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
Issue: Onboard Wi-Fi and most rear USB ports are not working.
Background:
- My RAM had been unstable for the past few weeks (randomly maxing out usage under no load).
- Recently the PC stopped detecting Wi-Fi and most USB ports stopped functioning.
- After troubleshooting, the system eventually stopped booting and the DRAM debug LED was lit.
Steps I’ve already taken:
- Replaced the RAM with a brand new stick.
- Cleared CMOS multiple times.
- Booted successfully into BIOS and Windows with the new RAM.
- Loaded BIOS optimized defaults.
- Checked BIOS Integrated Peripherals and ensured:
- USB controllers enabled
- Onboard LAN enabled
- Onboard WLAN enabled
- Installed latest AMD B450 chipset drivers.
- Installed Intel Wi-Fi drivers.
- Updated BIOS via M-FLASH.
- Tested multiple USB ports and configurations.
Current situation:
- PC now boots normally with new RAM.
- Onboard Wi-Fi does not appear in Windows or Device Manager.
- Most rear USB ports still do not work (only a couple function).
- Drivers and BIOS settings do not change the behavior.
Question:
Could this indicate a failed chipset or motherboard I/O controller, or is there another BIOS/driver fix I should try before replacing the board?
Any suggestions or additional diagnostics would be greatly appreciated.
