so i recently got a pc to start working but when i connected my headphones they did not work

i tried everything with the settings input and output but every time i did it, it said that the headphones were not connected

plus another thing that was happening is that it sounded static i could hear people talking but very low even with the sound all the way up. but when i tried to speak my mic would not activate
