I was thinking about buying a 4k monitor, nothing flashy 27' inch 100+hz, Samsung Odyssey G7 LS27DG702EUXEN i saw this one that fits but i have not decided yet.
I use my pc mainly for school / movies / media but i do game also, mostly single player games / some comp shooters. my gpu is unable to give me the performance i need for comp shooters but my question is would it be stupid for me to buy a 4k monitor to downscale it in the games to 1080p or 1440p?
#4K monitor downscale to 1440p for gaming

You’d be spending more than necessary
nearly every 4k monitor has a 1440p counterpart for less
My idea is that a lot of the things i do on the pc is not gaming related more media consumption wich would benefit from 4k
I know its a downgraded version of 1440p if i downscale from 4k but i wanted to hear some peoples thoughts around it
1440p won’t look great, it’d have to be only part of the monitor since it isn’t an integer scaling
1080p would work since it’d just use 2x2 pixels as a single pixel
you could use dlss to render at 1440p and upscale to 4k
You can use super scaling or whatever it’s called
