What gen ram does your laptop accept? DDR3, DDR4, DDR5? Capacity is a good start but depending on CPU and ram generation (the 3/4/5 from my previous question), speed (Mega Transfers Per Second -- XXXXmhz) and latency/timing (Column Address Strobe or CAS -- CL16) become a bigger deal.

DDR4, you'll want to consider capacity and speed. latency is a problem for DDR5. The least amount of ram I'd consider is 16GB. I'd go for 32 but I do development stuff for work and dabble in a lot of other pro usecases in my free time. As for speed, i'd aim above 3000. Looking on amazon, it looks like 3200 would be the standard.
I'd point you in the direction of 16-32 gb ram at at least 3200mhz from a brand like kingston or corsair. I'd also point you at an option that provides two sticks rather than one to best take advantage bandwidth.
