Hi, my name is Mak and I like to build very strange and weird PCs The idea I have for you today is a keyboard with a computer built inside of it now I could just buy a raspberry pi 400 or an orange pi 800. However I like to do things differently, primarily I need help finding a keyboard one that's thick enough in the rear to support rear IO but new enough that it's wired via USB I need to find a keyboard most likely within the XP to Vista era That's when they were still thick but weren't powered by PS2 I don't care what type of keyboard it is whether it's membrane or mechanical The keyboard I had in mind is a little slim for this project but it is a Dell SK-8115 with a orange pi Zero 3 built inside of it I only need about six GPIO pins for in order to create an internal USB to power the keyboard and then two to create a power button somewhere on the keyboard surface. Please shoot me ideas or any keyboard models that you may know that would work for the project thank you.

Really though, IBM keyboards from the late 80s, early 90s were pretty chunky and were super rigid due to steel mid-plates. The internals from back then were much less compact though, and most of them were membrane instead of mechanical. I've been using a Das Keyboard as my daily driver and it's a joy to type on. Fast and accurate and not too obnoxiously clicky. If more space was needed under the keys it could probably be lifted by about an inch before the angle would become uncomfortable to type on (for me at least)
There even appears to be a cheap one on ebay to use as a mockup. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196523219600
