#Question about clearances in my pc build

I am building a new computer and I have a few questions regarding clearances. On PCPartPicker it says that I might require a mounting adapter for my CPU cooler, the GPU might cover up some hard drive bays (which isn't a concern for me), and the RAM might not clear the CPU cooler. I am having trouble figuring out if this stuff is gonna fit, so could someone take a look at my build from the pcpartpicker link I attached and make sure it all works together? If there are other things I should know about this build that you might want to add that would also be much appreciated. It is the first time I have ever built a computer from scratch, so I understand some things might not work together.

noctua has pretty good documentation, https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15/specification the clearances listed here indicates that default config is likely to interfere with your ram slots but just barely. You should be able to shift that fan upward a few fins and be fine.

#

I've had my NH-D15 for years and years. I think it comes with a backplate for LGA1700. that mainboard does not seem to have one. If you do need a backplate for that socket it looks like there's a kit that can help. NM-M1-MP83 (listed under 'accessories' at the noctua link above)

#

if purchasing new that kit is what's included in the box.

If you're not mounting HDD, fractal north is pretty roomy and fits my beastly 7900xtx with no problem clearances listed at https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/north/north/charcoal-black/

North reimagines the gaming PC, introducing natural materials and bespoke details to make gaming a stylish addition to the living space. Fusing design and airflow engineering, the case features fine-patterned mesh ventilation and an open front with real walnut or oak panels. The design is complemented by sleek brass or steel details and an integ...

what I'm noooot so sure of is clearance of the heatspreader on m.2 slot vs backplate of your gpu. seeing if I can find specifics

#
#

might be fine, but if you intend to use the heat spreader in the top m.2 slot there might be conflict. Using the bottom m.2 will work around the issue but is likely to reduce your ssd performance considerably

thank you so much for all this info! i’ll see what i can do about all the fitting issues. in regard to where you said i can just shift the fan up a few fins, is that possible easily or do i need a special adapter/mount? i dont really know how that all works

no you just tug on the little wire clips that hold it in place and slide upward, they hook onto the fin-stack and are highly adjustable

#

Good luck with the build, my dude!

thanks again!

#

sorry to bother you again, but if i used a different mobo could i potentially have a higher chance of the gpu fitting with the m.2 heatsink?

#

maybe? if you had another in mind I can see if they list those specific dimensions

what if i used the second ssd slot that doesnt come with a heat sink but then just installed my own?
