so I did the thing and bought a CPU with broken pins, a Ryzen 9 5900x for around 120$ USD, it arrived today and had no broken/bent pins but just some plastic bits in the pins so I cleaned that out.
I popped it in the only spare AM4 computer which was my OPNSense router (don't ask 😭 ) and it would crash about a few minutes after booting, or it would crash when the OS is trying to load in. But it would POST fine and show up in BIOS
I sobbed and was ready to return it as there's nothing else I could do, but thought to update the bios even though the bios version was relatively new. It has been working since then which was 20 minutes ago,. CPU is at 40C idle. I only have this one computer to test it on which sucks and it only has a 500W PSU.
thoughts?
