#Slow PC

Or it's just running too many background tasks
Basically
Open Task Manager
See what's running in the Processes tab
That will not only tell you which app is using all the resources, but also which resources
...
Well, either way
What does "slow to respond" mean exactly?
And what exactly did you do right before this started happening?
And what exactly are your specs?
Thst sounds more like "the culprit" than "just that"
What exactly are the "regular apps" and games?
And how long have you been using the PC before it started happening?
Yeah, what exactly is "etc"?
Ah
I do have a suspicion or few
But before that, I need to know what exactly the slowdowns look like
Is it laggy cursor? Or buttons not reacting? Or just low FPS in games, or also in the desktop?
Okay, definitely look at Task Manager
What we want to look at is CPU usage, GPU usage and disk usage
What does the history graph show?
How high?
Got any games open?
Windows Update?
Steam or Epic downloading stuff?
No "Antimalware service executable" if you go to Processes and sort by CPU usage?
Yup
If it's using a lot of resources, wait till it's done and see if the responsivity goes back to normal
Otherwise... Check the disk usage
Unless you've got an NVMe SSD, that's most likely the culprit
Is it a SATA drive?
I mean, duh
You tell it to load a multi-GB game
That's what it's going to do, at the cost of performance to everything else
Your spec sheet probably?
Okay, riddle me this
Do the slowdowns happen in times other than a game or a big program running or loading?
Okay, in task manager
Go to Startup
Disable literally everything you don't need to run at startup
Discord, Steam and Epic included
And restart
Still slow?
Yeee
I guess you can
If it's fixed, the cause was probably a combo of "everything open" trying to steal resources
Discord especially is a pretty big hog in app form
It's why I use the web version instead
No problemo
