I have a PC that got upgraded over time:

  • Ryzen 9 3900X
  • RX 7900XT
  • 2x16GB DDR4
  • Asus B350-Plus mobo (pretty much the last remaining part of the original PC aside from the case)
  • 850W PSU (UD850GM)
Stuff from the original build that I have collecting dust now (about 7/8+ years old):
  • Ryzen 5 1600
  • GTX 1060 6GB
  • 4x4GB DDR4
  • i think 500 or 550W old PSU
I intend to use the latter parts to complete a server to replace my ancient pentium/gt9500/4gb ddr2 server. My question is - is there a reason for me to go buy a replacement mobo for the "new" pc and reuse the old mobo in the server, or do i just look for a mobo specifically for the server? The B350 has 6xSATA3, 2 of them shared with the M.2 slot. Me likey SATA slots for more hdd's.
Also case suggestions welcome, preferably with good airflow, nothing fancy (no glass, no rgb), min size with max full size hdd slots to match the mobo (for NAS/backups).

Right, country is Poland, I'd be willing to toss at most 1k PLN (~$200-250) at this but I'd need a real good reason to spend that much - more moderate options are preferred.

Solved - decided to get a B550 board for the gaming pc and move the B350 to the server.
