I recently put together a new pc in early May. It was in preparation for the new FFXIV Expansion. Up until the expansion and for the last two weeks after launch, it’s been amazing. Then just two days ago it started dropping frames by about 50% every 10 seconds or so. I have the game set to match my monitor at 144. It’ll sit there for a few seconds then just tank down to about 70fps and then go back to 144. If I change to uncapped (usually around 270fps avg) it’ll drop down to 190-200 and then back.
This issue isn’t isolated to just FFXIV. I found it happens in OW2 and Diablo 4. I don’t use anything else graphic intensive to test (though things like YouTube and twitch don’t seem to have any issues). No change with lowering the settings but if I go to Fullscreen… the issue is gone. I generally play in Borderless window mode. I haven’t dived into swapping any hardware out yet but currently have done a complete wipe/format of my drive and a total fresh install. The issue started back up immediately. Assuming it’s hardware now… but looking for maybe an idea at what to target first I guess.
