Hello there ! I rencently bought a tv and i'm now contemplating the possibility of playing some of my pc games on it. The thing is that I would like to keep the pc on the other room.

I saw linust go for this kind of setup at his house using those thunderbolt / optical fiber passive cables paired with a (very expensive) hub, which is not in my budget at all. Is there any other solution ?

I would need a cable between 10 to 12m ( 32ft to 40ft ) to go from the computer to the TV.

- Is a usb 3 solution possible ? Get a high quality cable from the pc to an active usb hub and go with a normal hdmi 2.1 from the hub to the tv and same for the keyboard and mouse ?

  • Is a long range Hdmi 2.1 is doable ? Monoprice or Cable matters for exemple just for the video signal and going for a cheap hub / usb cable for just the peripherals ?

- I also heard that maybe a solution using cat6 / rj45 might be possible ? No idea how

Basically, I’m looking for a « cheap » solution with the least delay possible considering that I ll mainly use it at 4K 120Hz and I’m a little lost between what the brands are claiming and the actual case application for my needs.

If someone has a good solution / idea, that would be lovely. ( don’t hesitate to provide brands or specific products as I don’t have much of an idea as to which is good or not )

Thanks for your time and sorry for my english, it's not my first language

a 15 meter hdmi lead is possible, not sure what version it will be at that distance, tough you could use a hdmi extender that uses ethernet cables, 4k 60 is usually the limit for most of the decent ones of these

use Ethernet and some kind of small Linux machine like a Raspberry Pi or NVIDIA Shield to run Steam Link.

Well, i would prefer a hardware solution not a software one considering that i might use it for other things than Steam.
I found Jtech 4K 120Hz 4:4:4 HDMI Over Ethernet Extender. Dunno if it is viable. I would rather have an all in one solution. With like a beefy usb3 going to a powered-up hub but i have no idea what to look for and it is even possible

thing is, the max length for usb 3 is 3 meters tbh

#

so for long distance it's either running via an ethernet extender or use a fibre optic setup

can i use a single ethernet cable from my pc to the hub for both the video signal and 3 peripherals for exemple ?

depends on what type of hub is used

#

i'd look at running the prepherials separately tbh

how then ? i don't mind having 2 cables but i still need to cover the 15meters for my peripherals too

run this next to the hdmi extender

you can then extend both, though i'd suggest using cat6/6e cable being used
