#NZXT Kraken 280 - B1 thermal dissipation concerns with Ryzen 7 5800x

Hi there. I just built a new PC for my partner. I put a Ryzen 7 5800x as the CPU, and a Kraken 280 for the AIO. (4070 GPU) Under load, the AIO seems like it’s not dissipating heat from the CPU enough. On the other hand, whenever the load ends, it cools down pretty fast.

I ran Cinebench 2024 and maxed the pump speed and rad fans. Under load the CPU reached temps as high at 92c. The only other game we managed to run was Ark, and cpu was hitting around 75-80.

I’ve seen the CPU boost to 4.7gz initially, but it appeared to throttle, lowering to 4.4 under load.

Before running these we had not put any thermal paste and just used the stock paste that was already on the AIO. I got weird idle temps then, so I assumed it was just the stock paste. I ended up buying and re-applying my own paste, and it make a difference for idle, but not much under load.

I’m not sure if this is the expected behavior from this AIO. I personally have a Ryzen 5 5600x with an air cooler, and under load it doesn’t reach these temps. It was just chilling around 80-5c when running Cinebech (I have forgotten the clock speeds)

Is this the expected temps with the AIO, and should I return the Kraken and buy an air cooler, or is there a better AIO?

92C is way to hot for 5800x with after market cooler

somthing worng with mount or AIO

#

AIO are bad they die lots

Agreed. I will have to double check mounting pressure. If nothing can fix it, I will probably get a noctua air cooler

Any opinions on this cooler? It’s within the same price range of the AIO
