#is this a hard drive?

i am only used to using normal HDD hard drives the big metal ones but i am curious if this thingy is a similar hard drive
This is an SSD and it's using the M.2 format, which mounts directly to your motherboard if your motherboard has a slot for it
oh i see so its a newer version of the thing i am using
do you know if all motherboards accept the use of that?
All modern motherboards have at least one slot for an M.2 SSD. I would say that every motherboard since around Intel 8th gen has had one
let me look really fast if i can figure out what type or brand or name of board i have to see if mine has that^^
MSI H310M PRO-VDH MOTHERBOARD
is the name of the one i got
Looks like yours doesn't feature a slot for one, so you'll have to get a normal SATA SSD, which are much faster and will make Windows feel a lot more responsive than a HDD. It'll also start up quicker and won't make noise
that is good to know yup yup
