I don't have enough room for my 2 extra fans so I bought a fan splitter. 2 have 3 pins with one pin spaced out while the other one has 4 pins. Does it matter which way I connect the fans into the splitter? like one connects to the 3 pin and the other on the 4 pin or do both have to be connected to the 3 pin.

It does matter. Start from the motherboard header and work your way up. There will only be 1 way to plug them in. The 3 pin ones are meant to be chained off the first fan as that one will be directly controlled, the others will follow along
