I’ve tried everything, from trying to secure boot the pc, to removing all drivers except the driver with windows installed, to even removing all drivers - nothing is working

#

FYI I have zero knowledge on computers, I’ve sat here the entire morning watching videos and reading blogs to try and fix it,

#

When I run with just the 1 driver, this happens

Hey dude, don’t stress we can get this sorted. Are you able to get to the BIOS? Normally you can press Delete, F9 or F12 when you first power it on to get there

#

This can help us figure out what’s going on

hasty ferry
#

Yeah I’m on BIOS now

#

Can you send us a pic?

Okay that looks good. The order is showing your boot drive as priority 1

#

When did this start happening?

hasty ferry
#

Today, everything has been fine for months.

main fog
#

Can you double click on the drive that says Part:0 Boot at the end

hasty ferry
#

Click yes?

main fog
#

Yes continue

hasty ferry
#

Still same error

Send pic

What operating system did you have?

hasty ferry
#

I’ve got no clue lol , I know it was windows 10 if that’s what you mean. I’ve got zero idea about computers

main fog
#

Has the computer been moved or transported recently?

hasty ferry
#

Nope

#

Nothing has been touched inside it either

main fog
#

I’m just wondering if a cable could have come loose - but the drive is being detected so it’s a strange one

hasty ferry
#

Is it possibly a motherboard issue?

#

I know the motherboard is really old

main fog
#

It’s hard to say right now - do you have another computer and a USB stick? Even a laptop will do

hasty ferry
#

I don’t

main fog
#

How critical are the files on that drive?

hasty ferry
#

Not very critical

main fog
#

There’s a couple things that could be happening here:

  1. Windows 10 is corrupted somehow
  2. The drive has died
  3. The cables or connections have come loose inside the case
hasty ferry
#

Alright. I’ll make sure all cables inside are in their port correctly, and I can try send the PC to a store to see if they can do anything - worst case scenario, I get a new drive and install windows again

#

We could also try to reset your CMOS as a last ditch effort

hasty ferry
#

Sure

The cheapest and easiest thing to do, would be buy a usb stick on Amazon or eBay that comes preloaded with a Windows installer

hasty ferry
#

And reinstall windows?

#

From one of the videos I watched earlier that’s what the guy did so maybe that’s probably the best solution

Microsoft has a program you can download that puts a windows installer on any 8GB or larger usb stick you have, that's super easy. If yo can find anyone with a working pc to do that for you, that's the easy solution.

#

Program's name is media creation tool.

#

And usb sticks you can get from most electronics or department stores

hasty ferry
#

Thank you

#

I’ll order one now and I’ll find a laptop to download it on, I believe I know how to install it as I saw a video earlier

onyx aurora
#

This only works if just the windows installation got corrupted somehow and the drive itself didn't physically go bad.

#

There's also a repair option in the install menu somewhere, look for it and try that first, if it works you get to keep all your files.

#

Alright, good luck. I'll leave this open if you have more questions later. Let us know how it's going.

hasty ferry
#

Update: I’ve ordered a USB stick which will hopefully be here soon, I’m going to use an old laptop to download media creation tool and hopefully that should fix it

I'm attempting to install windows, I'm on the page where it is requesting me to select a drive for where I want to install windows - none of the drives are working.

#

It is stating 'Windows can not be installed on this drive' for every singular drive in the list, for the reason stating 'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks'

#

Repair also didn't work, as it aked me to go back and select an OS , I didn't have an option to select an OS

#

I've tried booting with UEFI, and tried diskpart commands

#

Neither worked.

I think to install on an MBR disk, you need an MBR version of the install media, it's a bit messy
