Hey, so yestercay I build a new PC for my dad, and it never posted. Here are the specs:
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
MB - MSI B550 Gen 3 Gaming
RAM - 2x 8GB 2666mhz HyperX Fury
PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 750W 80+ Gold Ultra Quiet Modular
Storage - Samsung 970 evo 2tb m.2 ssd
GPU - GTX 1660 Super 6gb gddr6
CPU Cooler - noctua NH-D15
So I tried to turn on my pc yesterday and all lights when on and no POST.
all fans were spinning and what not.
So naturally I took it apart and made sure every connection was fitted properly. Still no post.
So I get worried thinking it might be a hardware issue. So I start troubleshooting. I put in my rtx 3080 from my personal PC. It didnt post, so it wasnt the gpu causing no display output. It also isnt the display cable as I used my working Dport cable from my main pc. I then tried turning it on without ram just so I could try and force a beep out of the speaker (keep in mind I wasnt getting any failed post beeps from the speaker) and it beeped so at least it was trying to post and not completely dead. I then tried to reset cmos. nothing. I used my screwdriver put it inbetween those 2 pins. Nothing.
Final resort was to flash bios to the latest version. I was never even able to. When i try and flash bios the red light doesnt go on. My usb is a sandisk, 64gb (partitioned down to 3gb). it is mdr, File system is FAT32, and the bios file is renamed to msi.rom. The only was im able to get a response from the motherboard after pressing the flash bios button is if I make the file system NTFS, if i do that I get 3 flashing lights then it stops. and reddit threads say to make it a FAT32, MDR, file type when this happpens but when I do that nothing happens at all. I even tried unplugging the reset switch because people said that fixed a failed post sometimes. Anything literally anything would help me atp.
Im not sure if the fact that the computer is actually trying to post means that its not the cpu or mobo, but im not quite sure.
