weird folder problem

When i drag something out of a folder onto the desktop, instead of moving it it copies it. how do i fix it

The original folder is likely on a separate drive, like your (D:) drive

When you hove the file over the desktop, the cursor should say "Copy to desktop"

If you hold shift (I think, maybe Ctrl) that prompt should change to "Move to desktop"
