I have a laptop that came with hdd so i installed an Nvme, windows was installed on Nvme now when I remove my hdd the BIOS does boot windows even though windows was installed on Nvme. The hdd is connected to the motherboard through a flat ribbon cable not via sata and power
When hdd and Nvme are both connected windows boot. When hdd is removed the laptop goes to BIOS on boot

it saw the uefi boot sector on the hdd and used that for booting. --- reinstall windows with just the nvme connected.

Can we change uefi boot selector without reinstalling?

its easier to reinstall, otherwise yeah you can create one and then point it to your windows install. I have no clue the full process but I am sure google will.
