So i have a rtx 710 graphics card which is kind of old and decrepit and i want to make graphics run on my cpu instead, im using a htmi cable plugged into my nvidia gpu so im not sure if that needs to be swapped around too

My issue is that my pc is frequently crashing and i believe it to be because of the gpu, but do correct me if im wrong
bugs i find are: cursor & screen having lots of bugged lines and out of place graphics
applications crashing upon being run
errors being logged upon booting
being stuck in a log in screen and being forced back into it upon logging back on

note that i'm new to linux distributions and i am by default a windows user!
