#

maybe i am blind but i do not see your ram ?

#

what mainboard is it ? you should have debug lights, or a 8 digit display

#

thats how you find out what is keeping the pc from booting / getting signal

#

depends on what you mean with status light ?

#

best is to start with your pc specs

#

tell us exactly what board, what gpu, cpu

#

motherboard is the most important, that way i can check the manual to see where the debug light is

#

there should always be a manual

#

the old ones actually often have the 8 digit display still

#

but i cant see it on the board from this view

#

try find the mainboard name that would really help only asus is not enough

#

it has UEFI bios so its not THAT old πŸ™‚

#

nah thats just a feature

#

probably on the other side

#

ah good πŸ™‚

#

just send me model name

#

i will check

#

its on asus website

#

if you want to do it yourself

#

trying if that helps^^ lets see

#

might have found it

#

does that look like it ?=

#

okay, let me check manual real quick

#

okay thats shit πŸ˜„ it honestly does not have any debug lights

#

makes this harder

#

so lets start with the usual suspects. Your cpu does have integrated graphics, so take out your gpu and try pluging cable in the motherboard

#

that way you are using integrated graphics instead of gpu, so we can test if the gpu has a problem or its osmething else

#

well you should have 8 pin cpu connection

#

which according to your image you got in there

#

wdym it doesnt ?

#

the gpu^^ well then its a good thing πŸ˜„

#

still need to find out what the issue is, most of the time its something not inserted correctly, or seated correctly or plugged in correctly

#

so you dont get power at all ?

#

pcs run without graphics card, so it should turn on

#

so i personally would now try getting the whole thing out of the case

#

yeah i do that all the time thats fine

#

lets find out if there is a short

#

thats not good^^

#

damn how old is the pc

#

nah

#

so the gpu should not cause it to not turn on, but since you took it out and it stopped turning on, plug it back in and try πŸ˜„

#

why u using screwdriver btw ?

#

case io not working ?

#

i mean its fine, as long as you do not short the wrong thing

#

okay so there is a psu problem here, honestly you somehow have to get it out of the case

#

get the screw out, should replace that anyway

#

you dont

#

i did not say its broken tho

#

but we have to rule out a short

#

so we cant really check stuff if the board is in the case

#

you could technically test the psu without the mainboard

#

but that would not rule out a short on the board, unless it does not turn on on its own

#

Power supply unit

#

i dont think there is anything wrong with it. At this point i think there is a short on the board / case

#

which would make the power supply not turn the pc on for security

#

well unless it has a short

#

IE something on the board contacts the case where it shouldnt

#

you could test other parts, by removing them and testing, but honestly the usual way is to check the most likely stuff first.

#

you could check ofc all the cables

#

i usually assume wrongly that people correctly connected them

#

but seen problems there as well

#

yeah in which you could have pushed something somewhere

#

oh.. thats not good

#

like i said.. you kinda have to rule out things.. its hard to do with the mainboard in the case

#

the way you troubleshoot is to reduce the amount of stuff until it turns on basically

#

well at least its on now

#

with screen now ?

#

well you can try now with onboard gpu if you want

#

so gpu back out and try with onboard graphics

#

this is so weird AF

#

the gpu should have no effect on turning on or not i have a server running here without gpu and without onboard graphics

#

well for it to run without the gpu the gpu should be out of the pcie

#

technically it works with the card in the pcie, but we want to test without it in the slot ofc

#

nothing else, it should turn on

#

lets see if you post

#

okay at least you can rule out gpu now

#

so its basically a testing game now, reseat ram, test agaom

#

yeah

#

clearing cmos is a test you can do

#

lets see if you have cmos jumper

#

otherwise you need to remove battery and wait

#

okay

#

you use a jumper or battery ?

#

okay πŸ˜„

#

nvm^^

#

the battery

#

and put it back in ?

#

to reset cmos you usually wait 1-5 min^^

#

so weird it worked so fast

#

then again its an old board

#

but you post now yeah ?

#

nice, so its sorted πŸ˜„

#

what you gonna do with this old pc ? πŸ˜„

#

def good idea to mess around with

#

if i were you i would even install linux on it

#

have some fun πŸ˜‰

#

i dont wanna know what a toilet roll does on your desk πŸ˜‰

#

damn DDR3 1600

#

@dull jolt stop spying ! πŸ˜„

dull jolt
#

Lol, if someone's helping already i just read unless they look like they need more info

gleaming orchid
#

i am thinking of buying the 4070^^

#

but i think i should wait a month or two...

#

idk

dull jolt
#

What do you have now?

gleaming orchid
#

2070 super

#

works fine in most games, so i am not in a rush^^

#

but it would do DREAMS for MSFS

dull jolt
#

I don't think you will see second hand prices for a 4070 anytime soon lol

gleaming orchid
#

well i would not by second hand anyway

#

i am german^^ we like our security and our warranty

dull jolt
#

Yeah people are too scammy in my region to trust what they are selling. I only get refurbished/renewed items

gleaming orchid
#

depends on what you think it says ?

#

you mean the date ? πŸ˜„

dull jolt
#

I see a large white bright dot but not 91

gleaming orchid
#

i see only flash

#

i think its 91 Fahrenheit tho

dull jolt
#

If you run with an empty drive the farthest you will get is the bios

#

Get a drive with windows or install

gleaming orchid
#

yeah you need to put windows on a stick or linux πŸ™‚ or any other os

#

its just a matter of download and put on the stick, you dont need a key

#

yeah you will have to

#

thats why always keep a laptop or spare pc πŸ˜„

gleaming orchid
#

i have 3 here, and another 3 raspberry pis πŸ˜„ if you count them as computer

dull jolt
#

I have a lot of spares, i just can't use some or run too slow. I has a Nas that i found and got it for free but it has the ip of the previous owner and the manual doesn't tell you how to wipe so i gave up on it, that was like a year ago, it's still just sitting here lol

gleaming orchid
#

windows media creation tool

dull jolt
#

Plug usb first, click download, it will get u the creation tool then use that to install it to your flashdrive

gleaming orchid
#

once its then on the stick you put it in the new computer and then you can basically boot from it

dull jolt
#

But please don't be like my friend who clicked wipe instead of download to usb

gleaming orchid
#

only wipe with your toilet rolls !

dull jolt
#

What πŸ˜…

gleaming orchid
#

xD

#

LMAO

sage flax
#

do u have rgb keyboard

#

or mouse

#

does the rgb turn on

gleaming orchid
#

@dull jolt your turn, i am going on couch watching some tv πŸ˜„

dull jolt
#

Run the exe so you can download windows onto your usb

#

The exe is for the program used to get the windows files

gleaming orchid
#

what gpu is that btw ?

#

wondering if it might be higher pcie lane than the board

#

was it 6600 xt ?

#

different guy tho, not the one from the other thread πŸ˜„

#

i would try clearing cmos first with the card in the slot, it worked earlier as well.

lean lark
#

Also does the cpu have a power cable as well?

#

The 4 pin cable on the left top corner?

#

I don’t see a cable there

gleaming orchid
#

@lean lark i am going on couch, you take over πŸ™‚ we got it to post earlier with integrated gpu. So everything seems to work, gpu fans also spin.

#

he has the 8 pin connected

lean lark
#

For the gpu get dedicated cables for each pin and not 8 and the pigtail but seperated cables to the gpu

#

Also tried reseatting the gpu?

#

Also how much wattage has the psu?

lean lark
#

Ok how much wattage does your psu have?

#

Also image whoa
