my specs:
i9-9880HK or summat
Radeon Pro 5500M - 8GB DDR6
64GB DDR4 RAM
Monitors
built in retina display
external lenovo tinkdesplay or something(i use it as my main display)
problems:
textures havent been loading properly since i began to use this monitor as my main display (in video games such as Apex Legends and Warthunder) if it helps to know my resolution is 1080p
when i used this display as an extended one, i saw that my VRAM usage went up bit by bit
audio:
this my well be just a warthunder issue but i keep hearing static over my headphones im pretty sure it the game audio BTW

and yes its a macbook pro 2019

My first diagnosis would be that maybe your GPU isn’t great for 1080p, another thing that would help is what kind of display cable you use (ex: hdmi, display port, dvi, vga)

HDMI

rugged pulsar
#

Hmm

#

Probably not that then, did you check display settings in windows?

meager cairn
#

Yes

rugged pulsar
#

Mac book? I didn’t read that bit

#

It may be because it’s a Mac book

meager cairn
#

Ok

#

If I changed the video profile in RP setting would that use VRAM

rugged pulsar
#

I’m unsure, sorry

meager cairn
#

Ok

#

My VRAM doesn’t seem to be full at all

#

3 GB is being used and textures aren’t loading

#

It could be an internet problème

#

My internet is quite slow

rugged pulsar
#

It could, but it’s a laptop right? Is it plugged into the wall? Mine has issues rendering things when not plugged in, although it’s a windows laptop it should work the same (essentially it’s easier for the GPU to run on outlet than battery)

meager cairn
#

Yh mine is plugged in

#

It gets quite hot could I have damaged the VRAM?

rugged pulsar
#

no likely, how hot exactly?

#

if the vram is over 100-ish Celsius for extended period of time, it is possible

meager cairn
#

Ok

#

I mean it does still get full up to 8GB when I’m using the monitor as an extended display

#

It usually stays around 80ish Celsius

#

Not too hot

#

I mean even if I ram out of VRAM it could use normal RAM

rugged pulsar
#

that's not exactly how it works, vram is specific, and normal ram when used is not nearly as good, if you go to the #build-a-pc channel, and see GuiltySpark, he will have a great explanation on it, and may even be able to help you better

#

It is not something that should be happening though
